Watch It: Philippe Dubuc Fall Winter 2010 – 2011 by Jason Last

I was trolling around vimeo while uploading LAX videos and I found this video for the Philippe Dubuc Fall Winter 2010 – 2011 collection. I heard his fashion show was held on a boat. I love that idea. You can see some pictures of the location on Fashion Television. The video is by Jason Last. I enjoy his fashion films. He made videos for Complex Geometries that I’ve featured before. It’s a fun video, moody and brooding. Of course the clothing looks great. You can find Philippe Dubuc in their Montréal retail location or online at www.dubucstyle.com/shop. Tavan & Mitto Fall Winter 2010 – 2011

Tavan & Mitto is Payam Tavan and Mike Mitto from Montréal. They have been designing together since 1995 where they first catered to private clients with their made to measure business. In spring 2001 they started a ready to wear collection due to the demand they were seeing. Payam Tavan has a Master’s degree from Domus Academy in Milan and worked with the head stylist at Gianfranco Ferré. Mike Mitto studied in Paris at La Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture and worked for Chanel for several seasons. This was my first exposure to the brand in person. I had heard the name before in passing but never did do any follow-up to learn more. I think they make beautiful clothing.  As an office worker, I could see myself in a lot of these pieces.  I love the draping and contrast of the structured pieces with sheer chiffon. All garments are made in Montreal (yes, even the beaded pieces). The construction is impeccable. They manage to keep their prices very reasonable even though there are …

Dsquared2 Fall Winter 2010 – 2011 Shoes

I think Rocky Horror and Dr. Frankenfurter when I see the Open Toe Frank N Furter Pumps by Dsquared2 for Fall Winter 2010 – 2011. I’m sure that why they chose the name. It’s a no brainer. They were the talk of the internet after the World Cup opening ceremonies thanks to Alicia Keys. I emailed Todd at Dsquared2 for some high res photos and he sent me another four images. I’m totally blown away. Tommy Ton has photos on his blog and Bryanboy tweeted some pics of him in Florence wearing them. All the styles will be available online starting in August 2010 at Dsquared2.com.  Alicia Keys wore the Open Toe Frank N Furter Pumps that retail for $1,275.00 USD. Amanda Lew Kee Fall Winter 2010 - 2011

Amanda Lew Kee Fall Winter 2010 – 2011

“Who are those scenester kids?”, I wondered. I was at Derek Blasberg event. A group of four people all dressed in black arrived. Now don’t get me wrong, I love the scenester kids. Someone has to take this stuff seriously because I know it’s not me. I recognized the guy in the group. It was Trash Helder. The women were wearing clothing with a similar style. This wasn’t random chance, it smelled calculated to me. Carefully planned to produce the following reaction: who are you and who are you wearing? The photographers ate it up and the quartet received a lot of attention. They commanded the room, it was amazing to watch. I loved every second of it. I would later find out that later that Amanda Lew Kee, a recent graduate of Ryerson’s School of Fashion orchestrated the scenester kids scene was . I went to the Fall Winter 2010 preview of her namesake woman’s line. I got to meet Amanda and I gushed over her stunt and its brilliance.  It was perfect because …

Todd Lynn Fall Winter 2010 - 2011

Playing with the Todd Lynn Fall Winter 2010 – 2011 Collection

Work kept me from catching the tail end of the Todd Lynn trunk show and personal appearance. I was a little bummed as I really wanted to meet Todd. He looks so cute in his photos. He also reminds me of Rick Owens so I’m drooling a little.  I think it’s the long black hair, le sigh. I missed the designer but I got to play in his designs.  On Saturday I made a quick trip to the private shopping area at Holt Renfrew and played dress up.  Every leather jacket made my waist look tiny.  They totally fit like a glove.  The fur was outrageous.  I like the androgyny of both the mens and womens lines. Todd Lynn price points are relatively cheaper than other brands doing leather with the same aesthetic. I even was recruited to model Todd Lynn for a customer. She was trying to decide what items to pick up from the trunk show.

Jenny Bird Pouchettes

i want: Jenny Bird Pouchettes

I saw the Jenny Bird Pouchettes at Holt Renfrew on the weekend. I have that bucket handbag preoccupation that also includes small cross body bags. There is a trend moving to smaller bags and I see a lot of cute ones like this around. Holts Renfrew is carrying the following combos: The black with stud, nude with grommets and Leopard with grommet. The Leopard style is exclusive to Holts. The handbag retails for $250 CAD.

Complexgeometries – Fall Winter 2010 – 2011

Complexgeometries Fall Winter 2010 – 2011

Yes, the Complexgeometries Fall Winter 2010 – 2011 looks are out. I’m always excited to see what Clayton comes up with season to season. I’m a big fan and I’m enjoying watching the evolution of shapes and fabrics. Fall 2010 looks great and I’m liking the sheer layers.  I love the grey tank wrap (middle look top photo) and I can see it easily being the next complex piece in my wardrobe. images: complexgeometries.com
