Going to NYC

I’m a fucking lucky person. I’m going to New York City this weekend and I’ll be checking out some fashion shows. Can you believe it? This lowly Toronto fashion blogger is actually going to be at Bryant Park. I’m hoping to see Anna Wintour and ALT in the flesh. Throw in some Anna Piaggi and Carine Roitfeld, I’m in heaven. I’m not going to reveal the shows that I should have access to in order not to jinx them. Watch this space on Tuesday for NYC Fashion Week updates. Danielle from Final Fashion will be there. She’s covering Jeremy Laing, the lucky bastard. I arrive the day after. If I can get my ass to Brooklyn Saturday morning I might meet up with some other fashion bloggers.

Hello Gucci Knockoff

Looks who’s totally copied the silver Gucci boots I spend the summer pining over, Franco Sarto available at Town Shoes. I first saw this book in the latest Lou Lou Magazine. I literally had to do a double take. I thought there was a mistake in the advertisement; they don’t carry Gucci at Town. These look identical. I tried on the Gucci’s at Holt’s, if they only had a 39. I’m going to try on these knockoffs and compare when I see them in the stores. image: townshoes.com

i got: Susie Love Jewelry

Susie Love Jewelry This weekend I had the pleasure of meeting uber-personality Susie. She opened her blue bag of goodies and pulled out all kinds of jewelry. I picked up 2 rings. Her jewelry can be found at Melanie’s Closet (829 Dundas St West), Model Citizen (913 Dundas St West), Mink (550 College), Grateful Head (1006 Dundas St West) in Toronto.

i got: Maria Serrano Shoes

Maria Serrano Shoes My black gladiator sandals bit the dust early this summer. I replaced them with these white ones. They should last much longer because of the quality upgrade. Maria Serrano shoes is a Toronto based company that sells shoes made in Argentina. Our intention is to feature new and different lines of shoes that are beautifully wearable. Every one of our shoes is made in Argentina and exclusive to Canada alone. We will carry limited quantities of each style so running into someone on the street with “your” shoes won’t happen. I also got these red girly flat shoes, which is a little unusual for me. If I’m wearing flats they are running shoes, so this is a departure. I purchased them at a small sample sale I was invited to. You can also get her stuff online or at the small number of events she attends. Watch her space for details.

Fashiontainment

Fashiontainment. I’m hearing this word all over the place now. Fashionainment. I hate it. I hate the way it sounds. I hate the way it feels when I say it. It rubs me the wrong the same way as Fashionista. Please, don’t call me a Fashionista. I don’t rip your head off when you do because I’m polite. Believe me, in my head, I’m playing out the Roy-Tyrell scene and you’re Tryell. I understand what Fashionainment is suppose to convey; but it’s an ugly and lazy word.
