Geekiviews: JR Watkins Sampler

My good friends at Brill Communications send me the JR Watkins Sampler which consists of: All-Natural Lavender Hand & Cuticle Salve All-Natural Lemon Body Oil All-Natural Lemon Hand & Cuticle Salve Aloe & Green Tea Hand & Body Lotion Lemon Cream Shea Butter Mango Shea Butter Peppermint Foot Cream Vanilla Hand & Body Lotion 100% all-natural botanicals, essential oils and other natural ingredients are the foundation for all of our personal care products and remedies. In order to maintain the optimum freshness and efficacy of our natural ingredients, we use the smallest amount necessary of safe, time-tested preservatives to maintain the integrity of our natural products. All daily use, personal care products must contain some form of preservation. I haven’t tried the body oil yet, but everything else smells amazing. The creams and body butters aren’t greasy. Good alternative to Burt’s Bees in my mind.

Geekiviews: Skin MD Natural

I agreed to review a skin shielding lotion called Skin MD Natural. “Shielding lotion is a lotion that forms a protective barrier on the skin and keeps out irritants and chemicals. It also allows the natural oils and moisture to remain in the skin so it can heal better. It is a big advantage that shielding lotions are light and go on without a greasy mess, ” says Dr. Brian Zogg, a dermatologist in Albert Lea, MN. Shielding lotions are more effective in the treatment of dry skin than moisturizing lotions or protective creams. I had really dry hands this winter and started to use the Body Shop Hemp hand protector to deal with it. Trying out Skin MD Natural sounded like a good idea. I received the 120ml bottle in the mail. I’m told that a little goes a long way. The instructions are vague, apply a small amount every 2 – 8 hours, then 12 – 24 hours. The lotion is absorbed very quickly and doesn’t leave a greasy residue, or residue of …

Geekiview: Would you wear this?

I get some funny submissions at times. Yesterday, I received information about the CPC STRAPâ„¢ which claims to be a hip and stylish way to wear your cellphone. I have a couple of issues with this: 1. I don’t want to wear my cellphone and I think those that do have a serious problem, it’s a tool dammit. 2. These things are neither hip nor stylish. I would use the word ugly, tacky even. You can tell this person didn’t read my blog because then he would know that I have something called taste. Adding tacky jewelery off a cellphone holder is not something I would endorse as hip and stylish. Normally I would just ignore this stuff, but this was good blog post fodder. image: www.htl-wireless.com

KRZRblogging

I’ve been meaning to do another post about my adventures with the KRZR for a while, but things would come up. Fashion and the Mobile Phone I’m going to start with a response to the question posed by my KRZRblogging friend Sonja from TorontoStreetFashion.com. She asks “Are mobile phones a fashion or in fashion? Do you think people notice your phone at all?” When it comes to mobile phones I’m a function over fashion girl. It’s a tool not a dress. People do notice mobile phones even in Canada, I’m guilty of it too, but it’s usually more from a technology standpoint than a design one. Software I made a comment about the KRZR software that is totally incorrect. It truly sucks. It’s beginning to remind me of my battles with my Sony MD player software back in the day. I have a couple questions for the software designers. 1. Every time I connect the phone to my computer I’m prompted to install the Motorola USB Modem software. Why is this? 2. Why must you …

geekiviews: The Slanket

Gary Clegg sent me a message and asked me to review his product, The Slanket. I was surprised at first. Why would someone want my opinion. So I decided to give Gary what he asked for, my opinion on the Slanket. He had the decency to ask and he was the first to do so. First off, what the hell is a Slanket? Basically, it’s a blanket with sleeves. It’s not a cuddle wrap. There are no buttons and zippers. It’s dubbed “The best blanket ever”. I have to agree. I fell in love with the Slanket at first sight, it hadn’t even arrived at my house yet. I have a cuddle wrap. It’s broken because the snaps have come off. No snaps, no arms. The Slanket didn’t have the limitation and the arm holes are much more advanced than the crude cuddle wrap. Gary had me sold. All he needed to do was delivery on the quality side of the equation. The blanket is made from 300gsm (grams per square meter) polar fleece. It’s …
