Jeeves & Wooster Pendant Lights by Jake Phipps

THIS. THIS. THIS. What else is there to say about these amazing pendant lights. They would make a great addition to any sartorially inspired home. Love.

The Jeeves & Wooster pendant lights were designed as a playful take on lighting with a real sense of cultural identity. The hat is an object that often associates its wearer with a particular society, heritage or race. The bowler and top hat are classic British cultural icons reflecting a bygone era of imperialism, class divide, and eccentricity.

Burberry Prorsum Resort 2010

Burberry Prorsum Resort 2010

It was all about the pants for me at Burberry Prorsum Resort 2010. I want them all. You can also see the strong shoulder is permeating through all designers.

Burberry Prorsum Resort 2010

I really liked new style of trench dress that Christopher Bailey presented this season. There is just enough minimal use of trench details for the idea of a trench in the dress to come across.

Calvin Klein Resort 2010

Calvin Klein Resort 2010

Calvin Klein is usually a minimalist’s dream and that didn’t change with Resort 2010. There was a lot of sheer in this collection, pants, skirts, tops. It was endless. It was quiet lovely even if it has to be worn in layers.

Fashion Weekly Fashion Camp 2009

Fashion Weekly Fashion CampAbout a month and a half ago I was asked to speak at Fashion Weekly Fashion Camp. I had just come off of the Building Relationships with Word of Mouth and PR Practitioners While Maintaining Credibility with Your Audience panel at PodCamp Toronto and I thought I should take the opportunity to continue to work on my public speaking. I don’t have a problem speaking in front of people as many who know me can attest. I enjoy it and I don’t feel any anxiety about speaking to an audience staring back at you. My only worry is that people take away something from my blatherings and that there is a little bit of value there. 🙂

Then again, maybe I just like to hear myself talk.

Fashion Weekly Fashion Camp A jam packed day seminar event hosted by special guest speakers from our very own fashion and entertainment industry! Be sure to meet and greet with industry’s top fashion designers, specialists, photographers, accessory designers, entrepreneurs and many more!

FW’s main focus for the event is to keep promoting Toronto as an innovative fashion city, and help educate new and upcoming talents about all the various paths that fashion can take them, various job avenues, realities of the industry and opportunities to work in fun workshops all in one day.

There are a lot of things going on in that one day and I’m not the only speaker. Check out the Fashion Weekly Fashion Camp webpage for all the details and ticket purchase.

Prada Ready to Wear – Resort 2010

Prada Ready to Wear - Resort 2010

I wasn’t a fan of the Fall 2009 – 2010 collection. It wasn’t for me with the waders and boxy cuts. For Resort, it’s a much softer Prada. Miuccia showed a collection influenced by the beach. It was a much simpler collection, relying more on colour combination and prints for the wow factor. The shoes look walkable, also in contrast to the disaster that was Spring Summer 2009. I loved the print work from the Spring 2009 collection, so it was nice to see prints making a comeback.

geekiviews: Lancôme Paris Perfecting and Setting Mineral Powder

Lancôme Paris Perfecting and Setting Mineral Powdericon

Lancôme Paris Perfecting and Setting Mineral Powder

My friends at Lancôme Canada sent me two of the latest additions to their makeup line, Skin-Transforming Mineral Powder Foundation and Perfecting and Setting Mineral Powder.

Ageless Minérale, the brand’s first brightening mineral foundation that brushes away the signs of aging. Ageless Minérale includes White Sapphire Complex, the newest innovation from the Lancôme Laboratories. The complex is comprised of a special combination of ingredients including Bismuth Oxychloride, Mica, Alumina, Aloe and Vitamin E. Working in conjunction, these ingredients help blur wrinkles, cover imperfections and visibly erase pores and lines. The SPF 21 keeps skin protected from the sun’s harmful rays.

The ultra-fine loose Mineral Powder Foundation can be used alone or with the Setting And Perfecting Mineral Powder, which gently absorbs excess oil and further minimizes imperfections for a shine-free, soft-focus finish. Talc-free and never cakey, the powders wear beautifully for hours without irritating the skin. The modern packaging features a sliding cap ensuring an easy and clean application. Used with the ultra luxurious Powder Foundation Brush, the powder effortlessly fuses with the skin with a velvety soft touch. Made of 100 percent synthetic bristles designed to work in conjunction with the product, this revolutionary brush is one of the highest quality synthetic mineral brushes on the market.

I didn’t get a chance to try the Skin-Transforming Mineral Powder Foundation because the sample wasn’t for my complexion. I would have liked to try out just because of the SPF protection, but like most make up products that I acquire it’s never for my complexion.

I was able to use the Perfecting and Setting Mineral Powder, it was translucent. It wasn’t something that I would put on in the morning, but I would use in a similar fashion to blotting paper. It was perfect when I didn’t have time to prep between work and an event. Perfecting and Setting Mineral Powder would take the shine away and give my face a more matte look. The powder didn’t irritate my skin either, which is always concerns me. Some products makes my skin breakout and I’m very cautious with skincare products. Currently I’m using Care by Stella McCartney, but I also like Dermalogica. As for the brush, I couldn’t tell you if it’s revolutionary or not. It gets the product on my face and distributes it’s evenly and that’s enough for me.

Skin-Transforming Mineral Powder Foundation in 9 shades at $46/10g, Perfecting and Setting Mineral Powder, $41/10g and Mineral Powder Foundation Brush $30 are all available at Lancome.ca and a Lancôme beauty counter near you.
