I have to admit I’m a bit surprised that I’m writing about Manitobah Mukluks. I’m not a fan of Mukluks and I usually cringe whenever I see people wearing them around the city. They are very popular and the Manitobah Mukluks company is as close to the genuine article as you are going to get.
I’m a huge fan of Louie Gong though and he’s partnered with Manitobah Mukluks to create a boot even I can love.

Louie Gong x Manitobah Mukluks Gatherer Boot is described by Louie:

The eagle is a cross-cultural symbol of strength, leadership, and long-term vision. By portraying the eagle on a women’s mukluck with a diving posture, oversized claws, and open mouth, I offer symbolic acknowledgment of strong women of all backgrounds. When wearing this eagle design, each step represents bold movement towards your life goals and leading our families into the next generation.

North Star x Geoff Mcfetridge Collection – Hoodies and Tshirts

North Star + Geoff Mcfetridge Pop-up Shop runs from June 22 – 28, 2012 at Magic Pony. I attended the launch party because I was dying to get a look at the collection. I wasn’t disappointed, it’s pretty damn cute.

i want: Chanel Fall 2012 Nail Polish

Chanel Fall 2012 Nail Polish – Frenzy, Suspicious, Vertigo

Chanel is one of my all time favourite nail polish brands. It looks great, applies easily and lasts long. When I saw Janine post a sneak peak at the Chanel Fall 2012 Makeup and Nail Polish collection I freaked out.

The three new Chanel Nail colours are Frenzy (milky greige, with a hint of lavender), Suspicious (bright fuchsia red) and my favourite Vertigo (black with a shimmery red undertone).

This beautiful trio will be hitting Chanel counters across the country on August 27, 2012.

Line Knitwear x Roots City Sweaters

Line Knitwear x Roots – Banff

My heart fills with Canadian pride when looking at the Line Knitwear and Root sweater collaboration. Line and Roots teamed up to create a capsule collection of four sweaters all based on iconic cities in Canada. The collection uses Line Knitwear’s top selling sweater styles with a bit of Roots Canadiana.

Line Knitwear x Roots – Vancouver

I’m a fan of all the styles and I think it’s fitting that Toronto’s is the most bland for some reason. I think it’s because I work in the financial district and all I see is shades of white, grey, navy and black. These sweaters will be available at Roots in the fall.

NKPR 10th Anniversary, Holy Petite & Sweet!

NKPR 10th Anniversary, Holy Petite & Sweet!

I was lucky enough to attend the NKPR 10th anniversary party. It was held at Natasha Koifman’s (Owner, NKPR) absolutely stunning home in Toronto. I know from previous NKPR parties that the sweets are usually out of this world. This party lived up to those expectations thanks to the amazing sweet table created by Petite & Sweet.

NKPR 10th Anniversary, Holy Petite & Sweet!

The theme of the night was “Love & Candy”, and I have to say, you could really feel the love! Although we had over 250 guests, the atmosphere felt intimate. Looking around my backyard was like looking into an NKPR time capsule. Everyone that attended has made NKPR into what it is today and impacted my life in so many ways.

As for the candy portion of the night, my favourite store Petite & Sweet – now featured on the Food Network’s “Sugar Stars” – created a stunning sweet table for the event. Not only did it feature some amazing treats like brownies, cupcakes, chocolate and candy, it also displayed my favourite quotes about love, written in chalk above the sweets. The table was the focal point of the party and Petite & Sweet did an amazing job of capturing the theme! – Natasha Koifman (source)

The table was so beautiful I almost didn’t want to eat anything. Beauty didn’t stop me though and I tucked into the sweets as soon as I took these photos. Everything was just as good as it looks. I never expected to like chocolate covered red liquorice or sour keys (one of my favourite candies of all time). Petite & Sweet did such an amazing job I felt like sharing these photos with you.

Proenza Schouler Resort 2013

Proenza Schouler Resort 2013

Ahh, Proenza Schouler, a brand I could dress head to toe in and be completely satisfied. If only I had the money to make that a reality. The Proenza Schouler Resort 2013 collection isn’t about gimmick and features fresh, wearable shapes and colours.

The resort collection introduces a new handbag to the PS line. The PS13 is a new purse that can be carried by hand or using a chunky shoulder strap.

I’m loving the tweets with neon accents and the pant shapes in this collection.

i want: Hermes Editeur Scarves by Hiroshi Sugimoto

If had a few tens of thousands lying around, I’d be buying Hermès Editeur scarves by artist Hiroshi Sugimoto. Hermès Editeur is a limited edition collaboration with visual artists who take their craft and interpret it into a Hermès scarf. They are all very beautiful and expensive.

i want: Hermès Editeur Scarves by Hiroshi Sugimoto

You are basically buying a piece of art on silk with the Hermès Editeur items. Hiroshi Sugimoto’s line is a limited edition run of 140 scarves at $7000 each. The colours are simple but so vibrant and stunning.

Hermès Editeur Scarves by Hiroshi Sugimoto

Hiroshi Sugimoto is a celebrated artist from Japan.

Born in Tokyo in 1948, Hiroshi Sugimoto moved to the United States in 1970 to study photography at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, earning a B.F.A. in 1974. There he absorbed the tenets of Conceptualism and Minimalism that continue to inform the technical and intellectual rigor of his work. In 1974 he moved to New York City. In his photographic series, as well as his experiments with sculptural objects, architecture and exhibition design, Sugimoto attempts to highlight and expand our perception of such abstract qualities as time, light, space, movement, spirit – and the nature of reality itself. His work has been exhibited internationally in solo and group shows. He was the recipient of the Mainichi Art Prize in 1988, the Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography in 2001, and in 2009 he was named the Praemium Imperiale Laureate in the category of Painting.

There is a long statement by Hiroshi about the work on the Hermes Editeur site if you are interested in reading more about the work. It’s way to long to recreate or sum up here.

I love some of these behind the scenes shots that give you a look at the design and creation process. Look at this huge printing machine. Amazing!

I’ve only posted the scarves that attract my eye, but you can check them all out on Hermès Editeur On-line gallery for Hiroshi Sugimoto.

Rodarte at The Room

Rodarte at The Room

Rodarte designers, Kate and Laura Mulleavy visited Toronto for a Personal Appearance and party at The Room in The Bay. The excitement was building up in the weeks preceding the event because Toronto hasn’t had any major designer visits recently (No, that Kim K person doesn’t count as a designer).

Rodarte at The Room

As with most of these events, I don’t care about what everyone is wearing because I’m touching the designer’s samples. I love the opportunity to feel the garments and examine the workmanship. Rodarte’s clothing is so well made and the materials are lush.
Rodarte at The Room

I didn’t even speak to Kate and Laura. I had no interview questions. I didn’t want to do the “I really like your work” and subsequent photo opp. I feel a bit sorry for designers in these situations as I liken it to being in a Zoo. They seemed happy to meet fans and take pictures before being whisked off to dinner with VIPs
Rodarte at The Room

I really like the Van Gogh print dresses from the Rodarte Spring Summer 2012 collection. The Fall Winter 2012 – 2013 collection didn’t invoke the same feelings but I love their shearling jackets.

Check out the rest of my photos from the event in the slideshow.

I was wearing the bright neon dress that got me spotted in Refinery29. I managed to find myself in coverage by The Backseat Stylers, Flare, Fashion Magazine and Jason Hudson.

Earlier this year I snapped some beautiful Rodarte dresses that were on display during the Anna Dello Russo event. I’ve never posted them and it seems appropriate for this post. These dresses are stunning.
