The adidas Originals x Star Wars collaboration always gets me excited each season. I’m so curious to see what new combinations they will come up with. I love the Wampa Sneakers from the adidas Originals x Star Wars Fall Winter 2011 – 2012 collection. Total Wookie action. They are even made from faux pony hair.
SHOWstudio has two brilliant videos about Yohji Yamamoto. The first video is called In Conversation with Yohji Yamamoto. It’s a one and one interview with SHOWstudio.com fashion director Alexander Fury. This interview has me excited for the upcoming documentary, Yohji Yamamoto: This is my Dream.
The next video is called In Conversation, About Yohji Yamamoto.
Photographer Nick Knight, art director Marc Ascoli and graphic designer Peter Saville discuss their work on Yamamoto’s seminal 1980s catalogues in a one-off conversation chaired by Madga Keaney, captured on film and edited by Ruth Hogben.(source)
Adidas is a collaboration monster. They’ve paired up with Diesel again to come up with a limited edition sneaker collection. Diesel and Adidas first joined forces with a denim collection in 2008. The Diesel x Adidas sneaker collection features five classic Adidas styles re-designed by Diesel. They were launched on January 20th 2011 and there is only 10,000 pairs available globally.
ZX700 Diesel
Thus Stefano Rosso, responsible for Strategic Brand Alliances of Diesel (and son of the company’s founder): “I am a huge fan of adidas, they inspire me and they were my myth when I was growing up. After the amazing denim collaboration, when Diesel’s know-how was infused by adidas’ spirit, we are now starting a new chapter of the partnership: the heritage of the two brands will come together applying our spirit on adidas classic kicks!â€
Stan Smith Special
An adidas spokesperson commented: “Our two brands continue to share a great relationship built on our mutual respect and admiration for each others business and expertise. Following the recent collaboration in which we used the Diesel expertise in denim to create a new segment for Originals, this new sneaker project allowed us to approach the product creation in reverse. Working together with Diesel always results in a positive sharing of ideas. Their perspective makes for great products and gives us a better understanding on how others would interpret our collection.â€

I have a feeling this is a men’s line but maybe they will stock sizes small enough for women. That’s some wishful thinking. However, I do like the Forum Mid Diesel Txt, Stan Smith Special and the ZX700 Diesel styles the best. Forum Mid Diesel Txt
You can head online at diesel.com to purchase the shoes or try the Diesel store in Yorkville on January 27, 2011.
The Star Wars and Adidas collaboration is going strong. The Spring Summer 2011 collection is full of some fun clothing that is heavy on the Boba Fett. I wasn’t all that jazzed about the shoes except for the Imperial Guard ones. They are beautiful.
I don’t think I have to say to much about these. Jeremy Scott has found a way to make Adidas even more crazy. I guess the wings weren’t enough. I find them repulsive yet fascinating. I have a feeling the 1994 raving version of me would have wanted these. I could see the whole rave scene going crazy and they becoming the “it” shoe. The men’s version will be beige. Not sure that agrees with me right now. I wonder if they will stock them at the Adidas Originals store here.
Star Wars x Adidas is coming back with a new lineup for Fall Winter 2010 – 2011. This series includes shoes from characters like Han Solo, C-3PO and R2-D2, Boba Fett, and Jabba the Hutt. I’m freaking over the Boba Fett shoes, he’s my favourite Star Wars character ever.
The Jabba sneaks are really cool. They are a great colour, they are high tops and I love the textured leather. I have to admit I like them more than the Boba Fett ones.
Who doesn’t love some Han in carbonite? That was the theme of these The Empire Strikes Back inspired sneakers. Of course, these won’t come in my size. :(Â The collection even features a Wookie jacket.
Look for these shoes at the Adidas Originals store on Queen Street and other sneaker shops.
Sometimes readers ask me questions. If they are of value to all my readers I post them online. If you have a question, please feel free to submit it using the contact form. I’ll definitely do my best to answer it.
I want – I got reader Mel wrote:
Message: Hey how are u doing? Im really feeling those adidas u bought from vegas. Can u plz tell me the name and possibly where to cop them from. Thanks for any help.
Hi Mel,
My Vegas Adidas, the mere mention of them brings back debauchery filed times in Las Vegas way back in 2008. I originally purchased these at a store in the Venetian. They are my favourite Adidas kicks ever. I can’t remember the name of the sneaker shop but it was in The Venetian. Normally I would respond to this question with a “you’re shit out of luck answer” but I’ve tracked them down on ebay. If you are serious, bid on them now.
This World Cup themed film for the Adidas x Star Wars collaboration is so much fun. Snoop Dog and a lightsaber. I’m freaking dying.
adidas Originals invites you to join David Beckham, Daft Punk, Snoop Dogg, Franz Beckenbauer, Noel Gallagher, Ian Brown, Ciara, Jay Baruchel, DJ Neil Armstrong and some of your dear, old friends for an intergalactic 2010 FIFA World Cupâ„¢ viewing party that you’ll never forget.
Are you watching the FIFA World Cup? Who are you teams? I’m an Italy fan with Germany being #2.
I’m a bitter Star Wars fan. I loved episodes 4 – 6. I felt insulted by episodes 1 – 3. I wasn’t a fan at all. I tried and now I’m a bitter Star Wars fan. I don’t take much joy in the Star Wars universe. However, I blogged about the Adidas x Star Wars collection. I thought it was well executed and I would totally love the Tie Fighter sneakers.
This new promo video brought back that love I had before episodes 1 -3.
It was the scene where Dark Vader walks out that got me. Magic.
I attended the Adidas Spring 2010 preview day where I saw the Adidas Originals Spring 2010 collection. I also saw the adidas by Stella McCartney and Jeremy Scott for Adidas Spring 2010 collections during the same visit.
There wasn’t too much from the Originals collection that grabbed me. I love the yellow hi tops and the patchwork poncho.
I attended the Adidas Spring 2010 preview day where I saw the Jeremy Scott for Adidas Spring 2010 collection. I also saw the adidas by Stella McCartney Spring 2010 collection during the same visit.
Jeremy Scott for Adidas is outrageous. At first, I wasn’t really sure what to make of it all. After digesting his design style and wearing some of his stuff for a photoshoot, I have to admit I like some of the ideas Jeremy comes up with. I guess this runs in the it’s so bad it’s good territory. I also like that the line is fairly androgynous.
The shoes are my favourite part of the line. They are so ridiculous. I would get a kick out of wearing them.
I attended the Adidas Spring 2010 preview day where I saw the adidas by Stella McCartney Spring 2010 collection. This season Stella expands to include Triathlon and Cycling. I had no idea that there has been Golf clothing in the line for a few seasons.
I’ve always really liked the Adidas by Stella jackets and sweaters. There are always some interesting details. This season zippers and metallics caught my eye. It’s funny that she’s even following the jean leggings trend except her leggings aren’t denim.
Adidas by Stella McCartney is available at Holt Renfrew.
If you haven’t heard Adidas is doing a Star Wars collection. People are going going crazy for the adidas x Star Wars Spring 2010. I’m liking the graphic tshirts a lot. I’m also a fan of the Tie Fighter, Stormtrooper and Millennium Falcon sneakers.
I got a phone called from Rea McNamara who wanted me to be part of her monthly fashion column for Toronto’s Eye Weekly called Inspiration Point. The print version is available now, grab it (8/6/09 – 8/12/09). I’ve got some I want – I got exclusive outtakes from the Inspiration Point photoshoot to share with you all.
The concept: Wanted to not only celebrate Grace Jones’ iconic style but also her impact as a transgressive performance artist who challenged racial and gender stereotypes by interrogating preconceived notions ’round the black body. Similar to Josephine Baker, Jones flipped the ‘Black Venus’ script by fucking with ‘primitivist’ ideas (ie. dark black female as animalistic, ‘jungle’ etc) in very much a postmodern context (by doing it herself, it became about empowerment). While I think it’s GREAT that Jones was this big F/W 09 influence, her talent as a performer seems to be ignored. Stuff that I wanted include but couldn’t: her mom was a seamstress that did handmade Givenchy patterns for Grace, her 1970s Paris modelling career (she and Jessica Lange and Jerry Hall were roommates when they strarted out) and her tendency to sometimes nog interviewers open-mouth.
I couldn’t say no to channeling Grace so I got my haircut at Mike’s Scissors (976 Bloor St W.) by Merv, my brother’s barber. I was having a lot of anxiety about it because he wasn’t my usual guy. Cecil is an incredible barber but he’s out by Downsview way and he’s popular. However, Merv did a great job and I provided him with pictures of my usual cut.
Final shot used in Eye Weekly
The makeup experience was interesting. I was exposed to the new generation of High Definition makeup from Kett. I found it a little strange that the day before I was checking out the story Hi-Def Makeup on style.com. Roxanne airbrushed my foundation on pretty heavily. Yes, that’s right, I said airbrush. Kett Hydro Foundation is applied like a graffiti artist, it’s pretty cool. She made me a number of shades darker. You can see the difference in skin colour in the last shot with the Pink Cobra vest on. It was pretty dramatic. The shot above is the one that was included in the print version.
Wearing Jeremy Scott x Originals Jacket from Adidas
The false eyelashes where another strange experience. I was a fake lash virgin until this point. They felt really heavy at first, but then the glue dried and they were pretty light. For the next big event I go to I’m going to have to hit up the Shu Uemura counter at Holts. The price of lashes include free application.

With this picture we tried to recreate the Slave to The Rhythm album cover. Since I’m not a smoker I couldn’t get it to dangle correctly. And of course, here is the video

If you’re in the mood for Grace inspired fun check out Bang The Party. It takes place every second Sat of the month at The Boat with DJs Todd-Rodd Skimmins and Andy Capp (Gang of Two).
Look for another editorial featuring Rea, Roxanne and Alyssa in the upcoming Fall Winter issue of Worn Fashion Journal. Alyssa and Rea collaborate on Century 66, a storytelling project exploring the closeted history of Toronto fashion.
I have been eying these boots after I first posted about the fall 2006 Stella collection from Adidas. I think they are more obnoxious than my white Sorels. Capezio came through for me in the end. I got the last pair of 8s in the store.
So as I was browsing press.adidas.com for my slides, I found the latest collection for Stella McCartney. She’s gone and made winter jackets and boots! The ad campagin is typical of Stella for Adidas, the wolves are a nice touch though. Check the press kit for fun photos and stuff.

I snagged these on sale when the selection was still awesome at B2 about a month ago. I’ve grown less fond of the flip flop and much prefer something stylish like this.

In Spring/Summer 2006 Adidas Originals brings back an iconic footwear concept that celebrates the touchpoints of self expression, customization and unlimited personal involvement: adicolor. In two main bursts the Sport Heritage division re-introduces a classic collection of customizable footwear and takes a step forward by adding apparel and accessories to the capsule collection.
The original adicolor concept was launched onto the sportswear market at the Ispo Fair in Munich in 1983. At this time Adidas offered pure white footwear models with specially created quick drying and weatherproof pens. This innovative approach to training shoes allowed every consumer to interact and produce their very own pair of sneakers. For this reason the shoes from this collection have achieved cult status.
To reflect the endless style possibilities of adicolor, the range of 2006 will be enhanced by a set of comprehensive, sophisticated customization tools ranging from felt-tip pens to spray paints and more. In addition, the adicolor collection will be divided in two major parts, the White Series which refers back to the original concept and the innovative Colour Series. The latter will feature a number of collaborations as Adidas Originals has teamed up with a diverse group of partners, all icons from the world of fashion and art.
As the authentic customization concept, adicolor stands for personal expression that encourages creativity.
The adicolor products are rolling out in retail over the course of three months, starting on March 4th, 2006. The different models are available through various distribution channels and cover a range of price levels. (source)
So you can get shoes already pre-designed or get yourself a blank canvas and paint your own. If I was artistic I totally would get a blank pair.
These are the new funky Adidas I bought. I love Adidas, it’s one of my favourite brands. I wanted a new addition to my collection as I had to retire a pair of Adidas that I owned.
