I love the new spring 2007 coats at Club Monaco. First they came in black and khaki with wide cropped sleeves. They look amazing on the mannequin. Then I spotted the slicker version. Grey patent, this would be a standout coat. Unfortunately, I realized that I couldn’t pull it off. I put this coat on and it looked like a big plastic bag wrapped around me. Sigh, no patent jackets for me. 🙁 The black one was okay, but looked much better on the mannequin.
It’s taken a few seasons but I’ve come to like Marni a lot. My favourite partsof the collections are the wonderful coats. Here is a selection of the coats from the Marni Spring 2007 collection.
I wrote about wanting this Marc Jacobs cape in the fall. I happened to see a few of them at Holt Renfrew yesterday on sale. It looks like they didn’t sell to well because there were few left over. They even had one in my size, sigh. It was still not cheap enough for me to buy it.

Previously I’ve talked about wanting a Smythe Les Vests sailor jacket. The Fall 2006 collection is pretty fun and has a red version of the sailor jacket I loved. This black wool trench is so perfect. I love the length and high waisted belt.
Passenger Pigeon, the affair continues… I have a coat fetish, big time. I have a double closet dedicated to them. Most of them are vintage, a few are military. There is also my prized possession, Anita. The Bell coat (pictured above) is made from a woolen army blanket. This summer I loved the wrap dress and this fall is no different. I love the Jersey wrap dress made from cotton and bamboo. Instead of birds this one has tree stumps. However another dress has added itself to the mix, the Herringbone Mod Dress. This one is made with bamboo, linen and lined with 100% silk, nice! The tree motive is a big trend with the fall 2006 collection.
I’m not a Marc Jacobs fan to be honest. Some of the LV monstrosities are just too much for me. So much so, that I don’t even get around to looking at his other endeavors. I didn’t like his Fall 2007 LV show much when I saw it on style.com. This picture from the spring show doesn’t do anything for me. I write it off as more over-sized shapeless blah. It’s weird though, I saw this Marc by Marc Jacobs cape in person recently and it gives off a totally different vibe. I loved it. Holt Renfrew has it on a third floor mannequin and it looks fantastic. It even looks good on the hanger. I’m into the cape this fall. I might even break out the vintage one I bought years ago but never use. I call it my Sherlock Holmes jacket because it reminds me of something he would wear. It’s nice that it’s in style now. I was walking by Black Market on Tuesday and spotted a beautiful grey wool coat on the racks outside. I can spot a military jacket from 10 paces and blindfolded. It was my lucky day, I discovered a stash of RCAF Air Cadet overcoats. They are also referred to as Greatcoats The jacket also includes RCAF gold buttons, sweet. Price, you ready for this. 10 bucks. $11.50 with tax. SCORE! The best thing about this coat is the fit. The were made for adolescent boys, which translates to correct sizing for an adult woman with a military fetish. It’s not easy to find authentic military gear for a size 4. It’s a shame that this pictures make the coat so dark. The closest picture from the Internet I could find was this Picture taken from eBay If you are in the area you should take a look for yourself. There were about 10 more and in perfect condition. It’s just too bad it’s getting warm. Great find for next winter though. Black Market MEGA WAREHOUSE …
