Project Runway Canada – geekigirl’s verdict on Jessica’s dress

I haven’t blogged about PRC yet. I’m usually on Twitter doing the live posting thing with friends and that gets it out of my system. However, Project Runway Canada – Episode 6 had me interested. The winner would have their garment sold in Winners and said garment would be ready to be purchased the next day. Very interesting! Episode 6: Hope Springs Eternal Recap Guest Judge: Nicole Gouveia, WINNERS The designers are challenged to make a perfect spring dress for the Winners customer. The prize for this challenge could truly launch one designer’s career – the top design will be sold in select Winners stores across Canada. Iman leads the judging panel to declare who will win and who gets cut. The episode was hilarious as always, plenty of freakouts and fights. So, Jessica Biffi won and I went to Winners the next day to check out the goods. There wasn’t any black in my size so I opted for this periwinkle colour. Danielle says I’m wearing it over the wrong shoulder and that could …

Me and the Alexander McQueen Striped column dress

I first salivated over the Alexander McQueen Striped column dress during the Mens Spring Summer 2009 show. Soon afterwards, Net-a-Porter carried the dress and I went crazy again as they had some great shots of the dress. Well, I finally tried on a variant of the dress at Holt Renfrew Bloor Street. Of course I had to take a couple sneaky photos in the changeroom. It’s stunning, but it’s a shame this version missing the statement shoulder. This dress fits like a dream and feels like nothing on. It’s a serious curve hugging dress. I’m in love. However, it’s $1500!!!! A girl can dream though.

Victoria Beckham’s Fashion Line

So it looks like Victoria’s line will be similar to Roland Mouret. “The collection was inspired by the femininity and sophistication of the midcentury silhouette, Beckham explained. “I’ve always been drawn to intricate, seam-detailed designs, as their structure enhances the flattering shape of a woman’s silhouette. “I like to focus on the posture of a woman and how she holds herself, which led me to incorporate features such as modern corsetry and grosgrain details, she said. “All corsetry is made for comfort and support with the finest materials, and, in addition, there are finer grosgrain belts that are incorporated into the line of the softer constructed dresses to give this effect in a more subtle way, thus enabling women of all sizes to wear my dresses to create a magnificent silhouette. Looks include a black stretch-cotton, hand-sequined strapless dress with a corseted bodice, and a black-and-white fleck cotton paneled style with topstitched shoulder panels. The label will say both Victoria Beckham and dVb, and the collection is priced between $600 and $1,400 at wholesale. The …

i got…

A vintage dress from Stella Luna I fell in love immediately when I saw this dress. It has a bit of a cocoon shape which you can’t see in the photos. The back detail is interesting too. Oh and it’s linen, perfect for summer. That’s my cat Sagan there. 🙂 Edit: For all of you wondering what the buttons look like.
