i want: Knits by Sacai

Knits by Sacai. I’ve been turned onto Sacai recently. Abe Chitose worked at Comme des Garçons and Junya Watanabe for 10 years before starting Sacai in 1999. Her knitwear is amazing. Holt Renfrew carries the line and you should really go into the Bloor street store to and check the stuff out, especially if you haven’t had the pleasure of looking at Japanese design up close. I’m in love with the above cardigan, it’s all about the collar and shoulder. The one that Holt’s carries had burgundy in the ruffles. This season was all about the ruffle and it was incorporated throughout the collection. images: the Fashion Spot – sacai F/W 08.09

Linda and Prada, not pretty

I mused about the Fall Winter 2008 – 2009 ad campaign for Prada in a post called “Linda and Prada, hmm”. The results are out and it’s not pretty. click for larger images. The blue shoes in picture number 3 are stunning! The shoe shots are amazing though. See the all the images here.

Jil Sander Fall Winter 2008 – 2009 Ad Campaign

I’m loving the Jil Sander Ad Campaign. I was a fan of his collection this season. His architectural take on the collar had me hooked. Lara Stone looks amazing in these. I’m not a big Natasha fan, but I like her profile shots. via the Fashion Spot – Jil Sander F/W 08.09 : Natasha Poly, Lara Stone & Matvey Lykov by Willy Vanderperre images: same source

Heidiwood Fall 2008

Longtime readers must know by now that I don’t do celebrities on this blog. I don’t really frequent celeb style blogs and I can’t stomach to write about the topic. I do read some gossip blogs (dirty habit) and I came across this lookbook photo: I can’t take it. Seriously! via ohnotheydidnt: Heidi Montag’s second collection for ‘Heidiwood’ Look Book image: same source

m0851 Fall 2008 Preview

I got a sneak peak at m0851’s fall collection and it’s very nice. I’m particularly in love with the purple bags and wool jackets. m0851 is Canadian and based out of Montreal. All of their goods are designed and manufactured in Montreal. For those of you that don’t have a problem with leather, you’ll wanna eat up the whole store. More photos here: m0851 Fall 2008 Preview

Christian Dior Haute Couture – Fall-Winter 2008

John redeemed himself to me with this couture collection. Now if we can ween him off the New Look kool-aid everything will be great. Don’t get me wrong, I love New Look but it’s time for him to move on or do a neo-New Look, 😛 click the thumbnail below to see a larger version of the dress above, gorgeous. The video is out already view it here: Video, Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall-Winter 2008 . 2009 on Frillr. You can also view the Resort 2009 collection video.

TFI New Labels 2008 – Style Shots

Canadian jewelery designer, Karen McClintock looks lovely. Hot shoes! There are a few people in Toronto that make my style icons list. One is Mary from Holt’s and the other is journalist Nathalie Atkinson. She looks amazing all the time and is a huge supporter of Canadian fashion. She was a ravishing display of colour that night. Here is a run down of her outfit. glasses by Rapp (handmade in Toronto!) garden insect necklace of vintage buttons and charms, made custom to theme by the amazing Clare Ramen of Buttercup Days vintage fabric clutch by Bennie & Olive silk drape skirt and silk draped top both by Véronique Miljkovitch of Montreal (bought at the MADE show last season, but you can buy her stuff at Model Citizen and Basia in town) shoes by Chie Mihara – not Canadian Andrew Sardone rocked the yellow shoes. Linda and Prada, hmm

This could be interesting. Linda and Naomi for Fall 2008. Rumor has it that Prada is set to join in on the resurgence the 90s supermodel. Often touted for being on the forefront of trends Prada could follow in the foot steps of Chanel and Louis Vuitton by using a 90s supermodel. Prada campaign photographer Steven Meisel is shooting Linda Evangelista reportedly for the Prada Fall-Winter 2008.2009 campaign. A trusted source tells us not to get over excited as Linda Evangelista could also be shooting a Vogue Italia Cover. So what do you think …..about Linda Evangelista for Prada? via Linda Evangelista For Prada Fall 2008 Ad Campaign? on Frillr

What does Barbara think?

I was reading the Buyers Report from WWD on the Fashion Spot and noticed that Barbara Atkin, vice president, fashion direction from Holt Renfrew talks about the collections from a retail perspective. Milan “Although Milan started as a somber season, it ended on a high note by offering a variety of beautiful and luxurious clothing with an infusion of newness. We saw a combination of the strict and subdued juxtaposed against a kaleidoscope of color, print and detail, all adding up to a decadent, luxurious bohemian style. We saw influences from the Seventies with long, lean silhouettes and covered-up clothes playing against the short and swinging. The ‘separates’ dressing that had its roots in the Seventies is making a strong return. We will be looking for luxurious coats; cropped or shapely jackets with accented shoulders; soft, folkloric dresses, blouses and skirts; cardigans and sweater coats; skinny and cropped pants, and man-tailored suits. We will be slightly increasing our budget over last year, as we believe our customer will continue to come to us looking for …
