Jay Ahr came in from Paris for a personal appearance at Holt Renfrew where he showcased his Spring 2009 collection. Jonathan Riss, designer, makes some really beautiful and expensive gowns. Here are a couple of articles in style.com and conceptny.com for you to learn a bit more about Jonathan.
Rick Owens Wool funnel neck coat
Miu Miu Lightning bolt heel boots These are amazing!!!!!
After seeing some friends wearing their Comme des Garcons stuff from H&M, I’ve changed my mind. Now I think I might make my way down to grab a few things. These are what I’m thinking of. Comme des Garcons at H&M Canadian store locations

I posted about my lust for Hermes scarves way, way back in 2006 and I’ve decided to revisit that. The Fall Winter 2008 – 2009 collection is influenced by India and there are lot of elephant motives everywhere. My Mom would be dying, she loves elephants. I’ve reposted the history of the Hermes scarf and some facts. It takes 2 years and 250 silk cocoons to make a 90 centimeter square scarf. The details are behind the cut if you are interested.

Racked LA has some more shots of The Comme des Garcons for H&M. They were taken at the H&M showroom. I’m still not seeing anything to get up early for. This was posted on The Fashion Spot, yawn Check this post out to see which H&M locations will carry Comme in Canada. EDIT: LouLou has some pics too

I talked about the shoes at Chloe in March and now they are available. Chloé Suede panel shoe boots Chloé Raised leaf boots
Les Chiffoniers Sequin leggings They are available online at their website also.
Jackets from Mackage I need another jacket like I need a hole in the head but these two from Mackage are pretty nice. The one with the architectural collar is wool. The other is nylon and packable. I like the idea of being able to pack up a jacket. I have a packable but it’s a lot more utilitarian and not very fashion. Mackage has a brand new online store now too. images: mackage.com
This time I’m in the National Post in the story called: Fall fashion wishlist: What I want right now It’s that time again. You know, “season of mists and mellow fruitfulness.” But for many of us, it’s also hunting season. Fall fashion-hunting season, that is. September’s fashion mags are full to bursting with images of impossibly lanky people – with apparently bottomless pocketbooks and no end of leisure – striding forth into the brisk autumn air dressed in riding boots, designer jackets and loads of cashmere. Who are these people and how can they afford this stuff? Do they not have day jobs? It’s not that we can’t enjoy the fantasy, but what we really want to know is what stylish people with real jobs intend to buy this fall. So Vivian Vassos asked more than a dozen fashionistas across the country, from editors to stylists to retailers, to fill us in on their personal shopping lists for the season. Click the link to read the article and see what I’m lusting for this fall.
It’s interesting to watch the progression of a trend. Example the Balenciaga Lego shoe. I’ve been wondering how long it would take to filter down to mass market level. Here is a rough timeline: Feburary 2007 – Balenciaga debuts the shoe during the Fall/Winter 2007 – 2008 runway show. June 2007 – Beyonce is spotting in the C3PO leggings. A few months later she is sporting the lego shoes; paparazzi fodder. I groan. April 2008 – Steve Madden did the more literal version of the Balenciaga Lego shoes, they are absolute monstrosities. Today – September 2008 – Now good old Aldo is doing the inspired version. So can still see the influence though.

Alexander McQueen and Puma shoes The collaboration seems to be doing very well. It’s expanded to include many style for men and for women. I’m a fan of these 3 styles. Yup, this shoe is pretty tame in my books. I wear my Vegas shoes a lot and they are way more obnoxious. The dude in jacflash noticed them; he was an Adidas head too. There aren’t too many of us around. I haven’t seen them here and I kinda like that. images: alexandermcqueen.puma.com
Balenciaga Edition Fall Winter 2008 – 2009 This sounds very interesting and very expensive. The Fall Winter 2008 – 2009 Balenciaga Ready-To-Wear Collection has developed a line “Balenciaga Edition”. The design studio selected ten designs from the house archives of Cristobal Balenciaga’s Haute Couture collections dating between 1940 & 1967. Their development is focused on a meticulous research of the original fabrics and construction and replicating them with current manufacturing techniques. Each piece will carry a special label and tag stating the original date of design to identify this collection.” images: balenciaga.com

You can get the Melissa – Joy + Alexandre Herchcovitch oxfords at jacflash. I can’t remember what they were going for. I’m not too sure about the plastic shoes. images: melissaplasticdreams.com

Jonathan Saunders silk skirt and shirt I love this skirt and shirt combination by Jonathan Saunders. The draping on the skirt is fantastic along with the colour combination. It’s looks a lot better on Net-a-Porter than did it on the runway in the spring. Jonathan Saunders is actually available in Toronto at Scarlet Boutique. More info on Scarlet Boutique here on Toronto Life. images: net-a-porter.com, style.com
The Miu Miu campaign is out and while Vanessa looks beautiful, she can’t help make those clothes look any better. I do love the shoe ads though. The first ones are obnoxious enough. I wonder if they are too forward for T.O. and I’ll see these come Now or Never. via the Fashion Spot – Miu Miu F/W 08.09 : Vanessa Paradis by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot images: same source
