i want: Givenchy Fall Winter 2010 – 2011 Boots

Givenchy Fall Winter 2010 - 2011 Boots

My fall 2010 dream shoes are Givenchy. They come in many different options: sequined, leather, patent leather, velvet and wool.  They also come in different heights.

Givenchy Fall Winter 2010 - 2011 Boots

The boots remind me of witches and grunge. Thankfully they have a zipper in the back of the shoe so you don’t have to lace anything up. Very smart.

I spotted these pair of Givenchy boots in the wild at Holt Renfrew. They are ridiculously gorgeous and expensive.  I’ll just admire from afar.

A.F. Vandevorst Fall Winter 2010 - 2011 Shoes

I love the clunky and armor-like boots from A.F. Vandevorst’s fall winter 2010 – 2011 collection.  You can see them in action in the A.F. Vandevorst fall winter 2010 – 2011 runway show. It’s on their facebook page. It’s the best quality one out there but not embeddable.  The video shows the different styles of the over the knee boots in grey and red.  I love the red ones.  This is a great shade of red.  The clothing is nice too, there were a few exits I liked.

Luc Kieffer in Toronto

Luc Kieffer - FW10 SS11

Luc Kieffer, a jewellery designer from Paris, visited Toronto for the first time during TIFF. A press preview party was held in his honour and I got a closer look at some of his fall winter 2010 – 2011 and spring summer 2011 collections.

Luc Kieffer - FW10 SS11

Luc has worked with many fashion houses like YSL, Balenciaga, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Sonia Rykiel. It was interesting to her Luc talk about the time he met Yves Saint Laurent in person in 1996. Luc collaborated with Yves on his final collection. The Luc Kieffer line was launched in 2006.

Luc Kieffer - FW10 SS11

Luc Kieffer jewellery specializes in high-polished resin with Swarovski crystals. Luc is a chemist by trade and that totally attracted the geek in me. That’s right people chemist = swoon in my books. Chemist turned jewellery maker is off the charts. I was told that Luc was a charmer. I wished I could speak french, it would have been nice to chat in his mother tongue.

Luc Kieffer - FW10 SS11

He worked with Yves Saint Laurent on his final collection in 1996, and has since worked with fashion houses like Balenciaga, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Sonia Rykiel. Now, Parisian accessories designer LUC KIEFFER, who launched his eponymous label with his first collection in 2006, is in Canada for his first visit. LUC KIEFFER has made a sole stop in Toronto to showcase his high-polished resin pieces. The line includes bracelets, cuffs, pendants, earrings, brooches and more recently, cufflinks.

Luc Kieffer - FW10 SS11

“The collections are designed to reflect different individual styles and each has a distinct character,’” said Luc Kieffer, who now has 23 collections. “Some of my designs are ‘un peu avant-gardiste’ but from what I’ve seen on Toronto streets and in boutiques, Canadians seem to be more fashion adventurous that what their reputation might be.”

Luc Kieffer - FW10 SS11

From an atelier based just outside of Paris, the born-and-bred Parisian LUC KIEFER and his team of talented craftsmen create resin fashion accessories that emphasize colour, luminosity and the distinct sparkle of Swarovski crystal. They mould the resin in-house, then polish it to perfection to maximize the colour and impact of the chunky crystal-embellished pieces. Resin, like crystals and fine gemstones, sublimates light and magnifies colour like a prism with an infinite spectrum of hues. Each piece is handcrafted in France, affording a true artisan touch, and making each one slightly different.

I first came in contact with Luc Kieffer at Holt Renfrew. They carried his line for awhile and I would drool over the barbed wire bracelets. Hopefully a local retailer will pick up this fun line.

CYDWOQ Fall Winter 2010 – 2011

cydwoq Fall Winter 2010 - 2011 Lookbook

CYDWOQ shoes always intrigue me I see them in the stores. They have a striking design style. They are a little bit clunky but exquisitely crafted. I was sent the lookbook and a press release that also gave me some background on California based CYDWOQ and founder Rafi Balouzian. Rafi comes from a long line of shoe-makers and he started CYDWOQ in 1996. He grew up hanging around the family factory in Armenia and made trips to Italy and France. All this time he was learning the shoemaking process from great handcrafted leather artists. Rafi’s son, Ari is the designer and Creative Director for CYDWOQ.

CYDWOQ design influences include nature, architecture, automobile design and old films. The shoes are handmade using the best Italian hand painted leather.

cydwoq Fall Winter 2010 - 2011

Natural choices dominate the CYDWOQ product. In shoe construction, the uppers are hand-lasted to the leather insoles using water-based biodegradable glues. Once inspected, the shoes are packed in distinctive cotton bags and recycled cardboard boxes. It is one of the world’s most ecologically responsible shoe firms, setting the bar for a greener shoe world.

cydwoq Fall Winter 2010 - 2011

CYDWOQ’s construction alone sets them apart. Their shoes are the only all leather shoes that have the insole (footbed) and the outsole contoured with the shape of the foot to facilitate the walking process. CYDWOQ is also distinguished from other shoe companies by the fact that its shoe components are manufactured at the CYDWOQ factory. Where other shoe companies only make the uppers and purchase the components from third parties, CYDWOQ manufactures the complete shoe with 90% of the components (heels, insoles, outsoles, wooden soles) constructed in-house. How is it done? On one side of the factory, the shoe-makers hand-cut the leather bottoms and shape the insoles and soles to the shape of the foot while other craftsmen hand-cut and sand the custom wooden heels. On the other side, shoe-makers sew the uppers and attach them to the lasts using water-based glues. Once completed, the soles and uppers meet in the center of the factory for final assembly, hand-painting, cleaning and quality control.

Philip Sparks Fall Winter 2010 - 2011 Shoes

Philip Sparks Fall Winter 2010 – 2011 shoe collection makes me wish I had bigger feet. The tall lace up boots have my name written all over them. I’ve been pining over them since the spring. Since I can’t have them I encourage my male friends to buy them.

You can purchase Philip Sparks shoes at online at PhilipSparks.com or in person at Town Shoes.

Modelgeddon, a Fashion Film by LOVE Magazine and Versace

The trailer for Modelgeddon looks awesome. It’s a fashion film from LOVE Magazine and Versace. I can’t wait to see the whole thing.

See first glimpse of a LOVE and VERSACE city, the completely original design of which was digitally created specifically for this film by Director and Designer, James Lima, with Creative Direction by LOVE’s Editor-in-Chief, Katie Grand.
Grand says: “Working with James Lima again was of course completely thrilling, and adding Versace in to the mix was very exciting. The models we used are badass cyber chicks who are so cool and fuck-me gorgeous they don’t care that the world is falling apart. James is indeed a genius.”
This city in fact does not exist; Alessandra Ambrosio, Ana Beatriz Barros, Claudia Mason, and Julie Ordon, all wearing Versace Fall/Winter 2010/11, were filmed separately, acting and reacting to the virtual world crumbling around them. Lima describes MODELGEDDON as:”Supermodels, being über bitchy, dressed in sexy Versace, shot with a RED camera, with a huge amount of computer graphic destruction, in a photo-real urban landscape”.

Hudson Collection Social

Hudson Collection Social

The Hudson COLLECTION launched at Holt Renfrew with a Social that included a DJ, mocktails and models. Hudson reps were on hand to talk about this exclusive to Holt Renfrew collection with customers and help them discover the perfect pair.

Hudson Collection Social

It was my first time seeing the collection in person and I’m a fan. I even purchased a great tank top with an asymmetrical tail on it. It reminds me of coattails and I can’t wait to bust it out. I’m thinking a pre-LGFW debut or perhaps during LGFW.

Hudson Collection Social

My favourite pieces of the collection were the D.I.Y style denim that incorporated leather into waistbands and hems. Of course these were the most expensive denim pieces, ha. My eyes and hands are drawn to expensive. There are lots of skinny leg options in the collection. The tops were versatile. The cowl neck long sleeved top and the tank can be worn in many different ways. I live for stuff like that.

Hudson Collection Social

I loved the jackets, in particular the wool jacket with the large cowl that doubled as a hood. It also can be worn multiple ways. The beautiful models posed for photographer extraordinaire George Pimentel and even took photos with fans. I don’t know how they managed to do all this in those crazy platform heels. I love heels but even they made my feet hurt just from looking at them.

Hudson Collection Social

I was there live tweeting the event. You can view those posts if you search for #hudsonCollection on twitter. I tried to showcase as much of the product on and you can find many images with me playing dress up. I didn’t try on any of the denim though and I kinda regret it now. I did have lots of fun with the jackets.

Here’s my Hudson COLLECTION Social Outfit Breakdown: Denim by Hudson, Zara tshirt, Dean Davidson necklace, Aldo Shoes, Juma blazer and scarf.

I took a little video with my Blackberry Torch of the Hudson imagery at the store. The video quality isn’t bad at all.

The Hudson COLLECTION is still available at Holt Renfrew and is available at the Bloor, Yorkdale and Vancouver locations. Prices for the line range from $145 – $995. Jeans average around $400.

ECCO Styled – October 2010

During October ECCO will have a traveling installation called “ECCO styled” that will stop at Yorkdale Shopping Centre, Sherway Gardens and the Toronto Eaton Centre. You can look at it like a little dress up installation. There will be a a wall of ECCO shoes and wardrobe options. Stylists will provide personal consultations utilizing the Fall 2010 ECCO line. You can get hair and make-up touch-ups so that you look great for the photographer that is there to capture the moment. I’ve been asked to participate in this installation and I’ll be at the Eaton Centre on October 15, 2010. You can join in on the fun on twitter by using the #ECCOStyled hashtag. Post your ECCOStyled self.

In the spring I attended the Fall 2010 preview for Ecco and I was very, very skeptical.  I didn’t think there would be anything I liked.  At this point I hadn’t ever seen a shoe at this store I liked during the rare and random times I stepped foot in the store.  I was wrong and ECCO actually made some boots a tough fashion customer like myself  can like.  I loved the boots and booties.  There were some riding and motorcycle boot influenced options.  All the boots had a nice low heel which made them very easy to walk in.  I received a gift card for my time and I held on to it waiting for fall.  I was gonna get me some boots from ECCO.

ECCO Styled - TIFF 2010 Bask-it Style Lounge
ECCO Styled – TIFF 2010 Bask-it Style Media Day

Fast forward to fall and I’m asked to participate in Ecco Styled.  I selected two items from the fall 2010 shoes and handbag collection and in return I’m to show off my ECCO Styled self.  I selected the tall Jaffna boot in a light brown colour.  These boots ended up being my TIFF staples.  In the photo above at the Bask-it Style Media day, I’m wearing the Jaffna boots, grey Zara jacket, Stella McCartney for LeSportSac bag, grey skinny pants and white sleeveless shirt ( both courtesy of Esprit).

TIFF 2010 - The IT Lounge

This photo was done by an illustrator at the IT Lounge during TIFF. I’m wearing the Jaffna’s in this image. ha ha.

ECCO Styled TIFF 2010 - ABSOLUT St.ART party

This is another TIFF 2010 shot at the ABSOLUT St.ART party. I’m wearing the Jaffna boots, Blank NYC jean leggings (Courtesy of Blank NYC), Cheap Monday white tshirt, Alexander Wang x Gap trench coat, magenta scarf and a Gap belt.

Monochrome today - Esprit Dress, Ecco boots, secret tights.

I wear the Jaffna boots to work a lot too. The above photo I’m wearing a blue Esprit dress (courtesy of Esprit), blue tights (courtesy of Secret) and the Jaffna boots. It was my blue monochrome day. Next post we’ll look at my handbag selection.

i want: NAA P-51 Flight Kit Bag by Red Canoe

NAA P-51 Flight Kit Bag

I love this NAA P-51 Flight Kit Bag from the newly released Boeing x Red Canoe collection.

Red Canoe is the first licensed collaborator to gain access to all of Boeing’s historic and acquired marks, including the archival logos of Boeing, North American Aviation (NAA), Douglas Aircraft Co., The Boeing Stearman and many more. The truly one-of-a-kind collaboration celebrates aviation icons, says Red Canoe Founder Dax Wilkinson.
“The Boeing team was highly impressed by the design, quality and authenticity of our merchandise – the partnership was a natural fit. We were so excited to visit the archives and uncover amazing imagery – from flight manuals to old pins, flags to flight suits – and breathe new life into these symbols.”

Jim Newcomb, Director, Brand Management & Advertising at The Boeing Company says Red Canoe’s Boeing Heritage line has the potential to capture the hearts of an entirely new generation of aviation and fashion enthusiasts: “This line honors the achievements of the hundreds of thousands of men and women who worked for Boeing, North American and Douglas, and who made the game-changing aircraft of their day. All of these companies are part of Boeing now, and they help to make us who we are, so we are proud to see them presented in a way that is authentic, durable and beautiful.”

The collection is 15 pieces including bags, caps, jackets and shirts. It’s available online at redcanoebrands.com and BoeingStore.com. The Boeing Stores in the US will carry the line from September 27, 2010.

Nella Bella Handbags Fall Winter 2010 – 2011

Nella Bella Fall 2010

I visited Tarek at his studio to see the fall 2010 collection from Nella Bella. The dark palette has a few spots of colour with gold, plum, red and blue. Textures fabricated this season include suede and paper.

Nella Bella Fall 2010

Tarek took me through Spring 2011 (more on that in later posts) and the current Fall 2010 collections.  He also generously loaded me up with handbags and send me on my merry way. This meeting was during TIFF so I was getting a little to used to this scenario. I love the Seattle style (pictured at top) bag. The four zippers are used to collapse and enlarge the handbag. It’s nice to have the option of three sizes. His studio building is gorgeous and I had to do and outdoor shoot.

Hudson COLLECTION Fall Winter 2010 – 2011

Designer denim isn’t dead. Holt Renfrew and Hudson have teamed together to bring Hudson Jean’s first high end collection. This collection differs from regular Hudson collections because the pieces are hand made using raw denim and the process is labour intensive.

With the new Collection I wanted to reinvent the idea of traditional denim and tops—its an anti uniform approach. Each piece has so much individuality and lets the wearer express her own style and personality. It is the roots of the HUDSON “way of life”. (lead designer for Hudson Jeans, Ben Tavernit)

Pieces in the line include jeans, tops, dresses and jackets with prices ranging from $145 – $995. Jeans will average around $400. The line is exclusive to Holt Renfrew and is available at the Bloor, Yorkdale and Vancouver locations.

Standard n. Of recognized excellence or established authority.
The common thread within Standard and the foundation of the Collection is Denim. Standard is style that comes from the classic HUDSON aesthetic in its purest form. Denim becomes the new neutral. Standard is both modern and timeless with attention to construction and design. A neutral color palette and uncomplicated washes are in harmony with clean lines and understated design.

  • Bodies: Skinny, High Waist, Baggy Skinny, Double Waistband Skinny
  • Washes: Rinse Resin, Black and Grey Over-Dye

Bespoke adj. Made to individual order.
Bespoke is rooted in the craftsmanship of fine tailoring. Overlock stitching evokes the process of hand-styling and fitting the garment, which becomes a piece of art even in its unfinished stages. Overlock stitching reveals the construction in streamlined androgynous styles. Menswear inspired suiting details such as trouser pockets and notch-back waistbands bring a touch of masculinity to the refined look.

  • Bodies: Skinny, Baggy Skinny, Trouser Skinny, Twisted Trouser
  • Washes: Rinses, Coatings, Wool, Textural

Hudson COLLECTION Fall Winter 2010 - 2011 - Bespoke

Shadow n. A dark figure cast by the body intercepting light.
A Bare minimum of details puts emphasis on the silhouette. Lightweight construction rests on the body like a shadow and accentuates its true shape. An absence of top-stitching, and darts turned inside result in technically challenging construction and a look of unparalleled simplicity. Ultra light silk, stretch and boiled wool in dark washes project a shadowy silhouette.

  • Bodies: Skinny, Baggy Skinny, High Waist
  • Washes: Denim (rinsed or unwashed), Boiled Wool, Stretch, Silk

Hudson COLLECTION Fall Winter 2010 - 2011 Shadow

Hudson COLLECTION Fall Winter 2010 - 2011 Shadow

D.I.Y. n. An activity in which one does something oneself or of one’s own initiative.
D.I.Y. is hand-styled and unique– the garment becomes infused with the wearer’s DNA. Cut and custom zippers and exposed inner waistbands convey a neo-punk vibe. The look is a reactionary response on an individual scale to modern reliance on mass-production. The emphasis is on individuality and rejecting conformity. Distressed washes and rough details imply a history of interaction with the wearer. Raw edges and exposed hardware come from an innovative attitude that shrugs off the establishment.

  • Bodies: Skinny
  • Washes: Leather, Wax Coated (Leather look), Wool, Rinses

Hudson COLLECTION Fall Winter 2010 - 2011 DIY

Tops & Dresses – HUDSON tops employ draping and a mix of textures and asymmetrical shape to play with positive and negative space. The ultra-light fabrications in black and white complement the minimalist palette of the rest of the Collection.

Alessi Watches Fall Winter 2010 – 2011

I love Alessi and in addition to quirky kitchen products they have two new watch designs for fall 2010.

Alessi Watches Fall Winter 2010 - 2011

Space-bimba (top row) is a product of designer Miriam Mirri and retails for $163. It’s to look like an alien and I think that’s very cute. NEKO (bottom row) is designed by Pritzer prize winner, SANAA. It’s a very simple watch but I like to think those are devil horns. It retails for $173. You can get the watches at the Alessi store in Montreal(2085 Rue Crescent) or online at www.alessi-shop.com.

geekiviews: Hudson Jeans

Hudson Jeans Sandra
Signature Bootcut

Over the last few years I’ve seen Hudson Jeans infiltrated many denim bars in the city. The papers were talking about the death of designer denim but Hudson seemed to be thriving. It started in Los Angeles in 2002. It brings premium denim material from the best mills in Europe and Japan. The denim is constructed and hand finished in Los Angeles. The head designer and creative director of Hudson Jeans is Benjamin Taverniti who joined the company in 2007.  Hudson’s trademark is their fit and fabrics. There is both men’s and women’s lines for denim but they are also expanding into tops, dresses and jackets for women.

Hudson has a huge celebrity following. If you look at any of the denim blogs you’ll see celebs in Hudson Jeans. I just assumed it was a denim line for skinny girls. Now before you say “Anita, you are a skinny girl”, let me explain. I’m skinny, but my history as an athlete doesn’t give me your stereotypical skinny body. My thighs and calves are muscular and the cut of some denim just doesn’t work for me. The waist is right and the thighs are too tight or the waist is too loose and the thighs are right. It’s a battle which has left me without any loyalty to any denim company. There is no one brand that dominates my wardrobe like say Juma or Complex Geometries.

Hudson Jeans Devonshire
Five Pocket Skinny/Super Stretch

Enter The Mint Agency into this story. I received a couple Hudson Jeans lookbooks from them. I like Hudson’s no frills approach to denim. There aren’t any embellishments or rhinestones anywhere in the collection. The focus is on wash and cut. There are a variety of styles: bootcut, skinny, straight, jean legging, midrise and lowrise. A discussion over what styles I liked from the fall and holiday collection and their fit resulted in three pairs of Hudson Jeans arriving at my office.   Thanks Sam at The Mint Agency!  Now I would finally be able to find out for myself if this fit is as good as their marketing is.

I’m very impressed with Hudson Jeans. The Sandra and St. Martins styles brought bootcut back into my fashion vocabulary. I never thought I would wear a pair of  jeans again before trying Hudson. I was quite content in my straight and skinny denim cocoon with no plans to emerge from it.  Now I’m trying to be like a butterfly find casual to events to wear my Hudson bootcuts at.

Hudson Jeans St Martins
Five Pocket Bootcut

Putting on Hudsons feel like slipping into an old worn out pair. The fit of the 28s were perfect for me. It had a bit of give in the waist but the thighs were perfect;  formfitting but not sausage.  Overall the waist to thigh ratio tightness ratio that I use to gauge denim was very, very good.  The pockets are placed in an area that doesn’t make you butt look funny or larger than normal.  Skinny denim sometimes looks more like jean leggings than regular jeans on me.  Hudson’s skinny jeans look like jeans on me and give me some breathing room.  I love this.  There won’t be a day where I can’t wear these jeans because my weight fluctuated a few pounds higher.  I’m looking at you Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair.  I love you but you’re not very forgiving.  So I’m drinking the Hudson koolaid.  They are some of the softest denim I’ve ever come across and the fit of the 28s rock my lower body.  The style tag says “Trust Me” on it.  They aren’t kidding.

Hudson is available at TNT, Aritiza, Over the Rainbow and Holt Renfrew.  Holt’s has a line of couture Hudson Jeans that are exclusive to the store.  They are more expensive but have additional details the standard line doesn’t have.  The regular Hudson line is in the $220 – $265 range and the couture styles are from $295 – $500.  The designer denim market may have shrunk but some players are still thriving.

Wow! Teddy Bear Sneakers by Jeremy Scott x Adidas

Teddy Bear Sneakers by Jeremy Scott x Adidas

I don’t think I have to say to much about these. Jeremy Scott has found a way to make Adidas even more crazy.  I guess the wings weren’t enough.  I find them repulsive yet fascinating. I have a feeling the 1994 raving version of me would have wanted these. I could see the whole rave scene going crazy and they becoming the “it” shoe. The men’s version will be beige. Not sure that agrees with me right now. I wonder if they will stock them at the Adidas Originals store here.

I think this solidifies the 90s revival for me.

Lanvin x H&M

Lanvin x H&M

You’ve probably heard the news, Lanvin is the next H&M designer collaboration. It’s a men’s and women’s collection by Lanvin’s artistic director Alber Elbaz and menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver. At first I was sad about it and discussed it on twitter a lot. Now I extremely curious as to how this will unfold and what is up H&M’s sleeve. I want to see how they translate this statement “the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public”. Is that some of semantic spin?

I think there is a lot of potential for the jewellery in this collaboration.  I’m speculating the clothing will be a lot of the tshirt jersey type pieces, but they may surprise me.  The collection will be released to the world on November 2, 2010 in the form of an online video at www.hm.com. It will then go on sale in North American stores on November 20, 2010 while the rest of the world has to wait until November 23, 2010.

Lanvin x H&M
image: Paolo Roversi

“H&M approached us to collaborate and see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less. I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public. This has been an exceptional exercise, where two companies at opposite poles can work together because we share the same philosophy of bringing joy and beauty to men and women around the world.” Alber Elbaz, artistic director of Lanvin.

“We are thrilled about Lanvin’s collection for H&M, it is such an exciting moment. Lanvin will bring to H&M a luxurious French tradition that is also modern and playful. It is very much a Lanvin collection, using their cut and tailoring, with sharp focus on shape and details for both women and men. The launch in November is going to be full of wonderful surprises.” Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M.

Star Wars x Adidas Fall Winter 2010 -2011

Star Wars x Adidas Fall Winter 2010 -2011 - Boba Fett

Star Wars x Adidas is coming back with a new lineup for Fall Winter 2010 – 2011. This series includes shoes from characters like Han Solo, C-3PO and R2-D2, Boba Fett, and Jabba the Hutt. I’m freaking over the Boba Fett shoes, he’s my favourite Star Wars character ever.

Star Wars x Adidas Fall Winter 2010 -2011 - Jabba The Hut

The Jabba sneaks are really cool. They are a great colour, they are high tops and I love the textured leather.  I have to admit I like them more than the Boba Fett ones.

Star Wars x Adidas Fall Winter 2010 -2011 - Han Solo

Who doesn’t love some Han in carbonite? That was the theme of these The Empire Strikes Back inspired sneakers. Of course, these won’t come in my size. :(  The collection even features a Wookie jacket.

Look for these shoes at the Adidas Originals store on Queen Street and other sneaker shops.

EDIT by Jeanne Beker Fall Winter 2010 – 2011

Edit by Jeanne Beker Fall Winter 2010 - 2011

A small group of online media joined Jeanne Beker at The Bay headquarters for a preview of EDIT by Jeanne Beker. Since everyone is doing the celebrity lines why not Jeanne. She at least has the years of fashion knowledge that makes it palatable to me. Jeanne never claims to be a designer. She’s partnered with the Corwick Group from Montreal who takes on the designer duties. It was a great experience to have Jeanne at our disposal and she talked about the industry and the changes that have happened with online. She made a crack about how everyone in the room probably weren’t of an age to remember a Pre-Fashion Television world. However, there were a couple of us that chimed in to correct her. Fashion Television is celebrating 25 years and the release of EDIT by Jeanne Beker is to  to coincide with the anniversary.

This 25 piece capsule collection will be available in 65 Bay stores in September. It consists of Jeanne’s personal selection of silhouettes and colours she feels are must haves. These are wardrobe building pieces. Classic items that you can pair with anything. Separates are chosen in a way so that the collection can serve a work and casual purpose. Casual means denim and there are Jeanne Jeans and Jeanne Jeggings to fit the bill. That’s right jean leggings. A portion of sales from the jeans goes toward Dress for Success, a non-profit organization that provides tools for career development to low-income women,

“Having worked in fashion’s trenches for 25 years now, in a career that often has a lot to do with “appearances”, I’ve learned a thing or two about wardrobe essentials and how the right choices can help not only make dressing easier, but a lot more fun. What a joy to be able to reach out to such an eclectic array of women who are like-minded, and understand fashion’s potential to build confidence, and ultimately empower us!”
~ Jeanne Beker

Edit by Jeanne Beker Fall Winter 2010 - 2011

The standout piece of this collection for me is the Camel Cape Jacket for $195. Prices range from $80 – $195 and sizes from 2 – 16. You can get a chance to meet Jeanne as she will be starting a national flagship store tour in October to promote the line.

The Fall Winter 2010 – 2011 ad campaign for Hermès is a lot darker than Spring Summer 2010 which was fairytale like.  The Avengers theme from the runway show goes hand in hand with these photos.  It’s like the lovely spy who is decked head to toe in Hermès makes her getaway with her SO Black Kelly.  She just can’t leave her wardrobe so she gets  her kindly old mentor to have them moved to her safe house by carriage.  Of course, this generous act will result in his death.  Yada, yada, yada.  I should write screenplays.  Ha

This is the SO Black Kelly that baghounds have been salivating over. I’m salivating too and I totally realize that the black packaging is definitely selling this bag.

The Fall Winter 2010 – 2011 collection from Danier is out. Some of my favourite pieces are their collaborations with John Hillifer, winner of Danier Design Challenge 2010 and the Raphael Mazzucco Mixed Media Montage collection.  The selection of pieces I like are all very motorcycle inspired.

I’m loving the leather dress and Celine inspired black leather tshirt. John’s jacket is very different from what I normally see in Danier and that’s a good thing to see them embracing different design.  Raphael Mazzucco Mixed Media Montage collection pieces have colourful linings that were created by Raphael.
