It’s fucking freezing in Toronto right now and it has me thinking about fur. Rick Owens fur. Of course, I like to look at what the designers are creating and the jackets often cost more than a car or a down payment on a house. Some are amazing feats of cut and colour and others are pretty garish. Ideally, a vintage fur jacket is on my list of must haves. It’s cheaper and I like the look of vintage fur. Whenever I’m vintage shopping I check out the fur racks, in case I find that magical piece.
Rick Owens Hun Jacket
The Rick Owens Hun Jacket is made of Fisher fur jacket and has leather sleeves. It wouldn’t be great for -30 at all considering it’s from the Spring Summer 2014 collection but man it’s a very stylish and modern looking fur coat. Fur done cool, the only way possible in the land of Rick Owens. This puppy cost $31,752 and is available on RickOwens.eu.

I am super stoked for Givenchy accessories. Shoes, handbags and jewellery oh my! Holt Renfrew will also be carrying my denim obsession, Current Elliot x Marni. It looks even better in person. Rick Owens shoes are coming, I die!!!!
I was coming home on the subway after Canada beat the US for gold and I ran into a friend Arieh Singer. He had obviously been partying during the day and was taking drunken photographs of his wife and her sister on the subway. He asked me if I wanted to take part and of course I said yes. Here is the result of that fooling around.
I’m in love with this picture, but I happen to love photos where I’m jumping for some reason.
I’m wearing: Hunter boots, Rick Owens Jacket, Alexander Wang snood, Elizabeth and James pants.
Rick Owens drapey leather goodness with a dash of jersey to round it out. I would wear this alone as a mini dress but I could also see it with a pair of super bright colourful tights or leggings.
I have some trend forecasting posts for Spring 2010, but I realize that doesn’t help anyone looking for what is going on after the shows have happened. Here is a post to help those who are getting directed to the Fashion Trends Forecasting Spring Summer 2010 post. These are the trends that are hitting the streets for spring and summer 2010.
Lingerie on the outside – Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Jean Paul Gaultier
My obsession with Rick Owens, the man and the clothes, has driven me to make this post. There have been many Rick Owens interviews and videos on the internet in the last month.
Providing an intimate portrait of Rick Owens in his own words and his own clothing, this filmic diptych, shot live during the action on set, explores Nick Knight’s monograph of an American fashion legend
The images, also part of the portrait, are from Nick Knight’s editorial for Arena Homme Plus. The Showstudio site has more images, I’ve selected my favourites to post here. The top one is now tiled on my desktop. 🙂
Fall 2009 – 2010 has been pretty boring to me. I haven’t posted as much as I have in previous seasons because nothing has really grabbed me. Paris has had better shows than Milan and NYC. One of those shows is Rick Owens. He eschewed traditional black and send greys of all shades down the runway. It was a fabulous collection as always. I shall be salivating over his jackets once again this fall.
How freaking hot is this leather jacket by Rick Owens. It’s has more volume compared to most of his sleeker leathers. He keeps the signature slim sleeves with high armholes that makes a Rick Owens jacket a dream to wear. It’s cropped and it reminds me of a bomber jacket put through the Rick Owenantor.
I love this collection. Thank god for Paris, I get giddy. The only thing I don’t like too much is the zippered pants. I can’t believe Rick has changed my opinion on the aesthetics of fur; it’s possible for it to look good and not tacky. (sorry peta freaks, I’m not sorry I said the fur looks good. And yes I know what happens to them, thanks)
Now or Never has been very good to me this season (It’s over for this season people). I managed to get this Rick Owens Funnel Neck Jacket for 75% off. It was the last one on the rack and it fit perfectly. I was in love. Initially, I walked away from the jacket and left the store, but I kept talking about it which was driving MJ nuts. I couldn’t get it out of my mind. A la Trent Reznor, it kept calling me, kept on calling me!
So, I went back and the rest is history. Afterwards, MJ informed me that this jacket sold out completely, everywhere.
This jacket fits amazing. The arms are a very slim cut but they are lined in silk so that it’s easy to put it on. The underside of the arms is made from a knit material which also adds to the sleekness of the arm. The double collar is drool worthy and I love how high it stands up. It’s like urban armour and I can block out humanity properly.
It’s funny because I almost bought this Rick Owens piece a TNT that day, but decided against it. However, fate would bring me back to Rick proper.
