Ji from Luxirare is one of the best fashion bloggers out there. She has a website that talks about food and fashion and uses the best photography to explain her point. It’s drool worthy and inspirational. Ji creates fashion and food that leaves her readers in a frenzy. Ji has started selling some of her designs online to the enjoyment of her many fans including me. I’m talking lux leather jackets and handbags. Right now I’m eying the Luxirare Minivest. This minivest is the perfect accessory to carry your most important items with you, without having to carry a bag. Or you can just wear it as a stylish accessory to add another layer to a jacket or a shirt. Carry your phone, cash, keys, lipstick and credit card with you. The back of this minivest is rendered with a flattering racer back style. Each vest part is connected with belt straps that are integrated for full adjustability. This vest fits women of all sizes. There are a few things from Gap’s spring summer 2011 collection I have my eyes on. I love the Pale Denim ruffle top. It reminds me of Lanvin a little bit. The Chambray denim hooded parka will be a good substitute for that Lanvin x Acne denim jacket I never bought. The white skirt is heavily influenced by Jil Sander’s spring summer 2011 silhouette. It wasn’t a silhouette that I liked at first but it has been growing.
I saw Paris Li’s new spring summer 2011 collection at the launch event for Ukamaku, a Toronto based online retailer specializing in Canadian fashion. I really liked the print pieces from her collection. Easy dressing for summer with a bright pop. Paris Li can be found online at Ukamaku or at York Choice in Bayview Village, 2901 Bayview Avenue. Private appointments can also be made. images: courtesy of Paris Li
I saw the news of the new H&M Conscious Collection. I didn’t think much of it until I saw this campaign shot. I need this dress, it’s just got summertime written all over it. I think the snow is already getting to me. Sustainability is a long term trend at H&M and this April as part of the focus on sustainability H&M will introduce the Conscious Collection – The collection which is for women, men and children is made from enviromentally – adapted and greener materials such as organic cotton, Tencel® and recycled polyester. H&M’s designers have been inspired by different shades of white, one of the most important colours this Spring. A minimalist, tailored look is combined with romantic lace, Broderie Anglaise, frills and draping. The Conscious Collection will be on sale in all H&M stores from 14th April. “It’s not just about organic cotton any more, the possibilities for creating a complete fashion statement with eco smarter materials are huge now. By designing recurring Conscious Collections we have the opportunity to show in …
Toronto based Iris Clothing is a locally made menswear label that is available online and at Uncle Otis in Yorkville. Merv Maranan is the man behind Iris Clothing. Merv cut my hair once. I cheated on my first and long-term barber with Merv because he was way closer to home at Mike Scissor’s. He’s also a friend of my brother’s who facilitated my infidelities. I attended the Spring 2010 launch party at Uncle Otis earlier in the year and really liked his collection of well crafted classics. My brother is a big fan. I’m tempted to call my brother a muse to Iris Clothing as he gets special one of a kind styles that aren’t available to the public. That seems pretty muse worthy to me. My brother has great style and is immaculate in his dress. I’m sloppy while he is perfect. He’s a jeans, t-shirt, button up, hoodie, hat, jacket and sneakers person but looks really good. Merv directed two short fashion films for the Iris Clothing Fall 2010 collection and they are …
The Hudson COLLECTION launched at Holt Renfrew with a Social that included a DJ, mocktails and models. Hudson reps were on hand to talk about this exclusive to Holt Renfrew collection with customers and help them discover the perfect pair. It was my first time seeing the collection in person and I’m a fan. I even purchased a great tank top with an asymmetrical tail on it. It reminds me of coattails and I can’t wait to bust it out. I’m thinking a pre-LGFW debut or perhaps during LGFW. My favourite pieces of the collection were the D.I.Y style denim that incorporated leather into waistbands and hems. Of course these were the most expensive denim pieces, ha. My eyes and hands are drawn to expensive. There are lots of skinny leg options in the collection. The tops were versatile. The cowl neck long sleeved top and the tank can be worn in many different ways. I live for stuff like that. I loved the jackets, in particular the wool jacket with the large cowl that …
Fall 2010 – 2011 is now available on complexgeometries.com. I’m really loving the sheer pieces this season. Fawn (my favourite store) has also seen some fall delivers, I wonder if Kasha bought any of the sheer pieces this season. Complex Geometries is getting big. Finally Style.com has decided to mention Clayton’s line in their Spring 2011 preview. Congrats Clayton, I’m so glad to see my favourite designers getting recognition by the top players in the fashion industry. Good luck with your show in NYC. images: complexgeometries.com
I love this top by All Saints. It has all the design elements that attracts me. It kinda reminds me of Complexgeometries in a way. You can purchase the top online at the All Saints store. image: allsaints.com
When I visited Fawn a few weeks ago I was introduced by a great line out of New York called SHIN. Shin is a FIT 2007 alumni and was a finalist in the Gen Art 2008 Style completion. You can find SHIN at Fawn 967 Queen St W Toronto (647)334-4703 images: shinnewyork.com
