Holts Gives Contemporary a New Bold Look

I had seen some evidence of changes happening at Holt Renfrew Bloor Street last Wednesday, some of the areas were getting a makeover. Yesterday, I received a tour of the new Contemporary Space on the 3rd floor from John Gerhardt, Holt Renfrew Creative Director. Inspiration for the space was kicked off by his green Comme des Garçons wallet. Influenced by the growing need for optimism, Holt Renfrew Creative Director John Gerhardt’s design inspiration stemmed from a bright green wallet he received as a gift. “It’s interesting how people respond to colour, particularly bold colours,” said Gerhardt. “I found myself looking at the wallet and feeling happy. It’s amazing how colour transforms our mood.” The Contemporary Space is now an explosion of colour and I love it. It’s a visual feast. The space now integrates accessories with clothing which moves it away from the separated Department Store feel to a more boutique shop experience. The more I see of these Melissa Shoes, the more I like them. The plastic thing does throws me off for anything other than an sandal. The heels have a padded footbed though, they might be comfortable. However you can’t complain about beautiful shoes like these. I love the colour and shape I’m also a fan of the pair designed by famous Architect, Zaha Hadid. They have an unusual shape too. Hello Kitty On the Prowl Nail Lacquer by M·A·C Cosmetics I didn’t think much of the Hello Kitty line from M·A·C until I met someone wearing the On the Prowl Nail Lacquer. It was grey and matched my Oakley sunglasses perfectly. I had to have some. I received some tips from M·A·C insiders that told me that it’s selling out quick and to get my but to a store. I was successful in my attempt. I would call ahead nearest M·A·C store to check availability if you are still looking. Limited edition shades of Nail Lacquer in a bottle featuring Hello Kitty and M∙A∙C and Hello Kitty logos. The promotional video for the line is interesting. Gotta love half naked men with Hello Kitty Heads.

IDS09 Favourite Things – Atelier Jacob

A friend of mine runs Atelier Jacob. I was in love with this booth setup. I though it was one of the best of the show. It radiated a nuclear-like glow paired with minimalist design. Toss in the beautiful duo of Team Atelier Jacob and you have the makings of an amazing fashion editorial. The prototype chair on the right (duh) left is my favourite. Marco is working on fabrication materials and it should be put into production soon.
