Interior Design Show 2009 – Photo Roundup

I attended the Interior Design Show 2009 with my photographer Paul Baik on Thursday for the opening night party/media preview and Saturday. I was really excited about this event because I had a photographer who knew what they were doing. My good friend Paul Baik is a graduate of Ryerson’s photography program. He’s also a Financial District combatant like myself. It would be nice not worrying about photos. He had a slick Nikon D3 that makes my little point and shoot look pathetic beyond belief. The Media room welcomes us with Veuve and media kits out the ying yang. There was so much to see and I’ve battled with myself as to how I want to present this. Do I do a massive post or break it up? I’ve decided to break it up. This post is an overview and you can use the two slideshows to see the photos. I will be posting about my favourite things from IDS all this week. Day 1 – Thursday Day 2 – Saturday All photos taken by …

Interior Design Show 2009 exhibit preview

I will be attending the Interior Design Show for I want – I got. I’ll have my trusty photographer, Paul Baik with me. I’m really looking forward to it. It’s rare that I have a professional photographer at my disposal. I’m really looking forward to bringing you the scoop. Here are some of the exhibits I’m looking forward to this week. 1. Concept Spaces Five of Canada’s most innovative and inspiring design firms have been assembled, each of whom represent very different design disciplines – production and retail design; industrial design, luxury architecture, luxury residential interior design, and landscape architecture. Representing a combination of emerging and under the radar designers coupled with established design celebrities, the five selected firms share some things in common – innovation, inspiration and talent…and for you this February, they will each design and create a living space that reflects their own personal notion of good design, free of client demands or budget restrictions…we hope that you enjoy the trip. 2. On Sunday I attended CupcakeCamp Toronto. It was a cupcake extravaganza and many different cupcakes were to be had for the over 400 people that passed through LabSpace. At the beginning it looked like getting Cupcakes would be hard, but eventually the crowd became more manageable and it was easy to get cupcakes.

Teck Suite of Galleries and Light & Stone: Gems from the Collection of Michael Scott

Teck Suite of Galleries and Light & Stone: Gems from the Collection of Michael Scott is now open at the Royal Ontario Museum. This by far is my favouite collection. I had to be kicked out of the gallery when it was over because I was wandering around gawking so much. Teck Suite of Galleries: Earth’s Treasures showcases the Royal Ontario Museum’s exceptional specimens of minerals, gems, rocks and meteorites, a collection among the finest in North America. The 6,900 square-foot combined gallery space fills the length of the Weston Family Wing on Level 2 and is divided into the Vale Inco Limited Gallery of Minerals, the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame Gallery and the Gallery of Gems and Gold. The fascinating displays are contextualized and illuminated by over 40 interactive touch stations, compelling video exhibits and engrossing information on Canada’s mining industry. The Vale Inco Limited Gallery of Minerals presents approximately 2,300 minerals, rocks and meteorites, exploring such areas as the classification of minerals, their physical and scientific properties, causes of mineral colour and …

i want: David Yurman Sunglasses

David Yurman Sunglasses I went to the preview of the new David Yurman eyewear line at Josephson Opticians who will be carrying the entire collection exclusively across Canada until end of March 2009. David Yurman is a famous jeweler who is taking the spirit of the jewelry collection and infusing it into the eyewear market. The result are really beautiful glasses that cost a pretty penny. The ones in this picture are about $1000.
