The classes focus on advanced techniques for building traditionally constructed custom corsets. At the end of the course you will have sewn your own corset made to fit your personal measurements. The style of corset being taught is a 19th century Victorian hourglass. The construction is medium to heavy making the end product appropriate for tight lacing, however, students can modify the information they take from the course to produce lighter garments. People interested in theatrical costumes, historical re-enactments, tight lacing and high fashion will all benefit from the material taught in this course. 8 week course 20 hours of instruction Classes are held Thursday nights from 6:30-9:30pm The total cost of the course is $375 GST = $393.75. My obsession with Rick Owens, the man and the clothes, has driven me to make this post. There have been many Rick Owens interviews and videos on the internet in the last month. SHOWstudio created a Rick Owens Portrait. It’s a combination of video and images. It is lovely. Be sure to click the link to see the videos Providing an intimate portrait of Rick Owens in his own words and his own clothing, this filmic diptych, shot live during the action on set, explores Nick Knight’s monograph of an American fashion legend The images, also part of the portrait, are from Nick Knight’s editorial for Arena Homme Plus. The Showstudio site has more images, I’ve selected my favourites to post here. The top one is now tiled on my desktop. 🙂 There are some interviews online. Vice Magazine interviewed Rick for their fashion issue. Hint Fashion Magazine Blog had a video interview with Rick. And the Rules of Style: Rick Owens from Mens.style.com.

Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent Olympia Black Leather Sandals You wouldn’t know by the weather in Toronto but it’s Springtime and I’m getting sandals on the brain. I’m kinda over my gladiators. I barely wore them last year as I didn’t have the heart. There were too many bad knee-high gladiator boot sandal things going on and in horrible colour schemes too. I’m now looking for more interesting sandals to fill the void. This is where these Olympia Black Leather Sandals from Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent come in. You can purchase these sandals through the Canadian online retailer S|Sense. Shipping is free for Canada.
