Catherine Malandrino x Lacoste Spring Summer 2011

Yes, yes, I know. More collaborations. I like this one between Catherine Malandrino and Lacoste for spring summer 2011. It’s the little pleated tennis dresses. LACOSTE has partnered with world-renowned French designer Catherine Malandrino to create a romantic and youthful new women’s collection for Spring 2011. The pairing couldn’t be more perfect, blending ultra-femininity and “joie de vivre”, the core of each brand’s philosophy. The LACOSTE + MALANDRINO Collection begins with an unexpected encounter of two worlds with a shared French heritage. The fusion of masculine sportif with a feminine perspective creates a new aesthetic – sensual, strong and Paris/New York chic. A wardrobe of fundamental, timeless pieces designed for a feminine, active life. Catherine Malandrino’s classic dress-making techniques of draping, shirring and a unique cut to accentuate the curve of a woman’s body are applied to the iconic LACOSTE polo. A new dimension of lifestyle-wear for a woman in motion. These two looks are my favourite.  I’m all about the maxi length right now.  The classic tennis outfit never finds itself on my bad …

Inside the Macallan Scotch Tasting

I was introduced to Macallan Scotch Tasting through a tasting event at The Hazelton. It was a great experience and I learned to appreciate scotch. Over the course of the years I ended up at two more scotch tastings with Macallan. I took some video of the last one so you could get an idea of what these tastings are all about.

i want: The Dynasty Barbie Dolls

Most of you know that Barbie ain’t my thing.  However, I grew upon Dynasty (not reruns) so I do want these dolls.  They are awesome. In honor of Dynasty’s 30th anniversary, Barbie® celebrates two of the show’s iconic characters. Embodying the sass and wicked streak in Alexis, Barbie® makes a bold statement in her golden gown and glittery jewelry. Brown wavy hair and dramatic face paint perfectly capture the character’s allure and deviousness. Embodying the chic style and glamorous beauty of Krystle, Barbie® wears a stunning white gown inspired by the show’s original Nolan Miller designs. Blonde, sleek, and oh so stylish, she sparkles in jewels that dazzle and delight. Of course Alexis is my favourite. They got into some pretty wicked catfights. Thanks to Style Collective friend, I’m the It Girl for tweeting about them. images: barbiecollector.com

Oliver Spencer Spring Summer 2011

Oliver Spencer is a British menswear label that recently opened a store on Queen Street West. I stopped by the opening party to check it out. It was pretty packed so I didn’t get to see a lot of the clothing. I did end up buying a beautiful Il Bussetto bifold wallet in vibrant green leather. I did manage to snag the Spring Summer 2011 lookbook which I’ve scanned. Queen Street is turning into the menswear strip with the addition of Oliver Spencer. There are a lot of great shops along Queen for you guys. Oliver Spencer 962 Queen Street West Toronto 647 348 7673

Prada Fantasy Motionbook for Fall Winter 2010 – 2011

I’m all over Prada Spring Summer 2011 right now. I love the collection and accessories. The video ad campaign is on loop at my house. Prada is good at the marketing that goes into the brand. The spring summer 2011 collection sold me on the runway. The video and print ad campaign turned it into lust. Prada had a great lookbook for fall winter 2010 – 2011 which they recreated in video form. I’m hoping something like this happens for spring summer too.

I love Pierre Hermé Macaron

The Oracle always brings me back Pierre Hermé macarons when he returns from Paris. The macaron are the best thing I’ve ever tasted. It’s a small box of 7 macaron and you can’t have them sitting around for days. You have to eat them within a day or too for maximum freshness. There are all kinds of seasonal flavours so it’s always a different experience. I haven’t tried Foie Gras macaron but I would. images: pierreherme.com

Classic Cocktails: A 1960s Soirée with Janie Bryant

The LCBO presented Classic Cocktails: A 1960s Soirée event which was held The Carlu in Toronto. Janie Bryant, the Emmy Award Winning Mad Men costume designer was in attendance and talked about the impact of 1960s fashion on current pop culture. I attended the event and managed to get some video of Janie talking. The lighting is so bad in the Carlu so please forgive how dark it is. I’m not going to apologize for the loud and rude crowd that talked over Janie Bryant the whole time. Poor form Toronto, poor form. I didn’t know what Janie looked like before the event and she is beautiful. She’s someone who can make St. John’s look hot because I would have never suspected they did her dress.

Vogue Italia February 2011 – The Black Allure

I’m not going to get all analytical about this shoot, the fashion industry and race. I do enough of that outside this space.  I’m just going to enjoy this beautiful spread and share it with people. When I cut my hair many people asked if I would ever go blonde. The answer is no but it looks good here.  The contrast is much nicer with her skin tone than mine.
