Converse Music Collection Spring 2010

Converse Music Collection for Spring 2010 brings us Blondie and The Clash. The Music Collection are “sneakers inspired by iconic bands who defined what it means to rock.” The Blondie styles are made for women. I’m a fan of The Clash so I was super excited about their offerings. The white leather London Calling chucks are amazing. I ended up getting the red skull and bones Hi Tops thanks to the kind folks at Converse. I can’t wait till the weather is nicer so I can wear them.  I seem to be amazing a little Chuck Taylor collection at home, this pair will be number four.  The others were purchased by myself and not gifts, I love my Chuck Taylors. Theda by Anita Quansah, exclusively for Shrimpton Couture

i want: Jewellery by Anita Quansah, exclusively for Shrimpton Couture

Trolling Shrimption Couture is always fun. I have been hearing about Anita Quansah’s jewellery for the last week so I had to check it out. She also shares my name and I’m totally curious. Rasia by Anita Quansah This silver tone multi chain neckpiece features vintage faux pearl mixed with silver and gunmetal chains. An oval metal tone faceted bead and clear facet stone charm have been wrapped around rows of a cascading ring design. Four large purple floral embellishment and 2 silk handmade corsage where then added, all held in place with 2 silver tone pin’s from a vintage kilt! As you can see Anita’s jewellery is very ornate and large. They are an uber statement piece so you’d need to wear simple silhouettes and neutral colours with these. They look like fun. Hera by Anita Quansah Hera is a spectacular creation that features cascading gun metal chains mixed with rhinestones and grey, black & gold faceted beads, all arranged in a mesh design, that drapes loosely like a collar around the neck. Hanging …

i want: Louis Vuitton Spring 2010 Accessories

Something is very wrong with me, I like some of the handbag offering from Louis Vuitton this season. I’m usually someone that only likes the Damier Azur canvas. I don’t know, maybe it was the music from the Spring 2010 show or the colours, but some of these bags are looking good. Forget about the price for a moment as they are astronomical and just look at the fun design. I think it’s the colour schemes that gets me. The colours are vibrant and well matched. images: nitrolicious.com

WUYORK Accessories

i want: WUYORK Accessories

I was reading WWD.com and came across these WUYORK handmade bowties. I was surprised to discover that Taiwanese designer York Wu spends his time in New York and Toronto. He is also an interdisciplinary artist/designer and Interior Designer. His bowties are quite beautiful and unusual. These bowties can move between traditional usage and jewellery. The WUYORK website contains more product and campaign images. There is also photos of the packaging, which is just as beautiful. images: wuyork.com

I want – I got Studio Tours – Dean Davidson

This is the beginning of a new feature I’d like to introduce to I want – I got, the Studio Tour. I’ve had the pleasure of visiting the studio space a few local designers. I’m fan poking around creative types working spaces. I find all their tools fascinating. The mood and inspiration boards give me insight into their brains. I figured other people would be interested too, so why not blog about it. The Studio Tours isn’t really a formal interview; more a conversation. It’s a way to get a look into a creative mind in their workspace. First up, Dean Davidson. “You worked in agriculture before you became a jewellery designer”, I replied to Dean. My jaw hit the ground before the words got out. It wasn’t the beginning I expected to hear from Canadian jewellery designer Dean Davidson. For 8 years Dean would travel to different farms and evaluate them in order to explain to the farmer what was needed in order to create the yield they were looking for.  Dean was all …

Asymmetrical black leather corselet belt by Zoë Hong

i want: Asymmetrical black leather corselet belt by Zoë Hong

Zoë Hong is a designer I’ve been following online for a few year now. It was first through her blog Verbal Croquis and now Facebook and twitter. We’ve never met in person but I’ve always thought she was talented and pretty damn cool. I was super excited when she opened an Etsy shop. Zoë makes accessories with just the right amount of embellishment and attitude. I fell in love with this asymmetrical black leather corselet belt immediately. There is no other adjective to use but sexy for this belt. Hot stuff. image: etsy.com

i want: Space Invader Handbags

Lana, an I want – I got reader, emailed a link to the London, Ontario based fashion eshop, Dress911.com. I get sent a few links and sometimes they intrigue me and sometimes they don’t. The concept of our store is clothing that is both vintage inspired and presented by smaller designers. Our selection ranges from garden picnics to cocktail parties, styles from movie stars of yesteryear to the latest revived fashion on magazine covers, liberating indie designs to humble simplicity. Each piece is unique and is a statement. I was trolling the site which features a lot of vintage inspired clothing, when I noticed these great Space Invaders Handbags. I love! If I saw a Galaga version of the handbag, I would have freaked out with excitement.  Galaga is my favourite video game ever. images: dress911.com
