Crazy Lady is now a trend

Refinery29 had me laughing with their top 13 trends from London Fashion Week Crazy Lady. Over the top, under the table. We can’t tell which it is, but we still feel a certain sisterhood with this level of eccentricity. So maybe we’re crazy, too. From left: Temperley, Topshop Unique, Aquascutum, Topshop Unique Crazy Lady is now an official trend. I wonder how this is going to play out in Spring 2009. We still have Paris to see if this trend will become entrenched or not. In New York, Marc Jacobs kicked off the trend.

Montreal 2008 – u&i

Another great shop in Montreal is u&i. It’s located on St Laurent but I didn’t manage to get any pictures. They weren’t as friendly as Thomas from Reborn so I didn’t bother to ask. From the Brand list you can imagine that it’s pretty cool.

i got: A vintage beaded bag

A vintage beaded bag This was one of my purchases in Montreal as I was told to hit up the vintage shops. I’ve been looking for a small, clutch like bag that can fit my Smartphone (Blackberry now) and my camera. This does both and is pretty, yay! This was purchased at Friperie St-Laurent, 3976, boulevard Saint-Laurent.

Montreal 2008 – Reborn

One of the coolest shops in Montreal is Reborn. Adrian from Fashion Verbatim recommended that I check it out. It’s in old Montreal and I visited it after my stop at the Notre-Dame Basilica. I had forgotten the address that Adrian had given me and I was wandering around looking and then I saw the window and I knew I found the place. Thomas (I think that is his name according to Adrian) was in the shop and he was so friendly and helpful. We talked fashion a bit and I mentioned that I was from T.O. and a blogger. Turns out he knows Tommy Ton from jakandjil.com. We are both eagerly awaiting Tommy’s photos from his travels during the fashion weeks. He’s even seen my blog before and that totally blew my mind. It still to this day surprises me when I meet people that have read this site. He showed me a lot of the great pieces in the shop like the my new obsession, the Denis Gagnon leather hoodie; it’s absolutely to …

i want: Mackage Fall 2008 Jackets

Jackets from Mackage I need another jacket like I need a hole in the head but these two from Mackage are pretty nice. The one with the architectural collar is wool. The other is nylon and packable. I like the idea of being able to pack up a jacket. I have a packable but it’s a lot more utilitarian and not very fashion. Mackage has a brand new online store now too. images: mackage.com

geekiviews: The One Hundred

Melissa from Harper Collins send me the new book The One Hundred: A Guide to the Pieces Every Stylish Woman Must Own by Nina Garcia and illustrated by Ruben Toledo. Regular readers will remember that I review Nina’s other book, The Little Black Book of Style a while back. Nina decided to write the book because she is always asked what are the classic or must have pieces necessary for one’s wardrobe. So she put together a list of things she simply cannot live without. She goes on to say that this list isn’t the be all or end all and that a lot of self editing should be applied for your own personal style. She says the list is a guide and contains items that have lasted throughout the years. Nina always stresses the individual aspect of style in all her books and I appreciate that from her. It seems she not interested fashion clones. The book is beautifully illustrated of course. What I love about The One Hundred is that it’s full of …

Rodarte Spring 2009 FTW

I don’t usually get Rodarte. I appreciate their work and the complexity, but I’ve always been meh about them. I don’t know what it is about this Spring collection that has me excited. They have basically expanded and refined the look they presented during Spring 2008 and the Fall 2008 seasons. It just looks so slick and polished for Spring 2009. The presentation of the collection was brilliant and I have to admit, I’m really loving the clothes too. Some of it is totally unwearable, but who the fuck cares. After a week of mediocre shows, Rodarte definitely stands out. Check the video! image: thefashionspot.com
