Hotlinking isn’t cool XXXXXXXXXers!

I’ve noticed a lot of people have taken to hotlinking images from my site. It’s not cool, that’s my bandwidth you are using aXXXXXXs! I’ll be taking steps in the next few weeks to make sure that if you hotlink an image from my site, you’ll get a nasty surprise instead of the expected image. If you want to use an image you see on I want – I got, download it and host it on your own damn server! UDPATE: After thinking about it this post was a little harsh. So, I’ve edited the language abit. I just wanted to let hotlinkers know that I’m pissed. Hotlinking is NOT COOL and just plain rude. There are many free image hosting services available to everyone on the net. So, please don’t do it.

Damn people, where did you come from?

So, I took a much needed sanity break from blogging over the holidays. I still haven’t caught up with email and won’t do that until tomorrow. I did post about a lot of sales for boxing day. I checked my stats today and the traffic was ridiculous from Dec 24 – 26. An average of 3,642 unique visitors each day hit this site. Insane! I’m amazed it didn’t go down, thank you Dreamhost, you rock. Thanks to Redflagdeals for the link love. It was a major contributor.

This theme brings new stuff.

So this is my new theme for now. It brings some new features. 1. Post navigation items at the top of the page 2. Click comments, it’s the green thing with the thumbs up and thumbs down. Tell me if you like or hate the post, it’s as easy as a click. It’s mostly for “i want” and “i got” posts. 3. Going forward posts will have Tags. You can find them on the permalink pages only for now. 4. Added lightbox to make pictures look pretty. See the results below. Things that are gone 1. Socializer plugin 2. Direct Category and Archive feeds. They don’t display in the archives anymore. This I want to fix

More Network Issues

I’ve been plagued the last few days with some nasty network and server issues with my hosting company. It seems they have given the green light and everything should honky dory again. Sorry about the downtime folks. Anita

I need a good tagline

I’m really crappy at creating these things. I still really like “I want this, I want that. I got this, I got that.” but that doesn’t really say anything. I’ve changed the layout a little bit and the tagline is one thing I’ve changed, but I’m looking for better. Can any of you think of something that covers all everything that I want – I got is in a sentence?

I’m in love with Blackcomb Glacier

Blackcomb Mountain is so beautiful. In my 2005 trip, I didn’t really see much of Blackcomb. I was too busy trying to figure out which way was up. The conditions were terrible, visibility was like 5 feet, snow was blowing sideways and it was cold. I used to think Whistler was my favourite mountain but today’s trip definitely changed that. My friend Eric told me Blackcomb Glacier gives a new meaning to big. I thought he was being a bit melodramatic, I was wrong. You get the opening of this glacier and you are completely awestruck. It’s big alright, fucking big. You look down and see how tiny the other skiers are in the bowl. It took a gondola, 2 lift chairs and a t-bar to get Blackcomb Glacier from the base. We skied the glacier again but it only took 2 lift chairs and a t-bar. It’s totally worth it. My pictures will not do the glacier justice. It’s grander than grand and completely humbling; then you get to ride it. w00t! Note: this …

I’m in Whistler and you’re not

Okay, the title of this post is kinda cruel but I’m enjoying my time in Whistler, BC. I skied some of Whistler mountain on Monday and hit Blackcomb mountain today. Apparently, we are going to get a dumping of snow on Thursday, so I’m getting giddy for the powder. w00t. I’m taking a bunch of pictures but I don’t have a laptop so you’ll have to see them when I get back. I’m posting this from my friend’s Powerbook. Skiing is like riding a bike, you never forget how to do it. Those 10+ years of skiing regularly in my youth has helped me move back into black diamond territory. I’m still not brave or good enough to attempt the double black diamond runs. Talk to you soon readers. Regular blogging will start on April 8, 2007 image: kidrobot.com

Vacation

I’m away this week folks. I’ll be Whistler, BC hanging out and relaxing. I’ll try to blog while I’m there, but I’m not making promises. I’ll be back to regular blogging on April 8. In the mean time, you can check the archives for past posts.

I’m sorry IE users

The site is messed up for anyone using IE right now. I don’t often check IE because I use Firefox and I forget about the rest of the world. I’m trying to track down the problem and I hope to get it fixed soon. You really should be using Firefox though. LOL. UPDATE: I’ve fixed the problem. Thanks goes out to Scott Wallick, the creator of the plaintxtblog theme I’m using. He helped me to track down the issue. Scott Rocks. w00t!!!!

This hasn’t been fun

The upgrade hasn’t gone as smoothly as I would have liked. You will find the comments are broken. I also have to fix some things with plugins. Sigh. My friends list is pooched for now too. It will be back once I fix the widgets issue. Please email me if you see any issues. UPDATE: All functionality should be working correctly now. What a pain in the ass.

Upgrading…or not.

Please be patient as I am upgrading to WordPress 2.1 Hopefully this goes smoothly. UPDATE: Calling this off for now. It needs more planning. UPDATE UPDATE: I was wrong. Site is now WordPress 2.1. I’m fixing my themes now.

Do you like Snap?

You might have noticed the website preview on the hyper links on I want – I got. I added this new tool called Snap Preview Anywhere after seeing it on someone else’s site. I thought it was kinda neat, hope you like it. 😀 What is Snap Preview Anywhere? Snap Preview Anywhere enables anyone visiting your site to get a glimpse of what other sites you’re linking to, without having to leave your site. By rolling over any link, the user gets a visual preview of the site without having to go there, thus eliminating wasted “trips” to linked sites. Do comment on how it works for you all, I’m interested in your thoughts about it

Comments

Hi I just wanted to let readers know that if your comment goes into my moderation queue, it’s not because I don’t like you. I’ve been getting bombarded with spam, which was manageable until the trackback spam started. So I have had to add an extra layer of security on the comments. If your comment gets stuck, I will have them posted by the end of the day, my work doesn’t allow me to access my blog. Thanks for your patience and fuck you spammers! 😛

Just a reminder

Hi, I got an email today with a person requesting invoices from me. Of course I didn’t know WTF she was talking about and thought she was a scammer. I wrote back a fairly nasty email cause I hate scammers. For some reason, that baffles my mind, she thought I was associated with a particular company. Amazingly, she didn’t have the contact information for this company even though they had been billed. I DON’T WORK FOR ANY OF THESE COMPANIES. I want – I got is NOT a business. Do you see any advertising here. I don’t make money off this, it’s purely for pleasure.

Sales madness

The holiday season really brings the sales out. I’ve been listing as many christmas, warehouse and sample sales I can find. You can see all the new sales posts by viewing the Sales Category. I try to keep my Google Calender updated with information also. I invite my readers to comment on any of the sales they have attended. I don’t get out to all of these and I’m sure others would like to hear of your experiences.
