geekiviews: The Slanket

Gary Clegg sent me a message and asked me to review his product, The Slanket. I was surprised at first. Why would someone want my opinion. So I decided to give Gary what he asked for, my opinion on the Slanket. He had the decency to ask and he was the first to do so. First off, what the hell is a Slanket? Basically, it’s a blanket with sleeves. It’s not a cuddle wrap. There are no buttons and zippers. It’s dubbed “The best blanket ever”. I have to agree. I fell in love with the Slanket at first sight, it hadn’t even arrived at my house yet. I have a cuddle wrap. It’s broken because the snaps have come off. No snaps, no arms. The Slanket didn’t have the limitation and the arm holes are much more advanced than the crude cuddle wrap. Gary had me sold. All he needed to do was delivery on the quality side of the equation. The blanket is made from 300gsm (grams per square meter) polar fleece. It’s …

Fall Winter 2006 shoes from Maloles I featured Maloles shoes before and I just discovered their fall line up. I love the asymmetrical opening on these boots. I bet they sit nicely against the leg and look great with skirts. I’ve seen a lot of these box toe ballerina flats, I love them. These ones look like they have a little face.

i want: Urban Soft Flowers by Hunter by Bonder boots

Urban Soft Flowers by Hunter by Bonder boots That fact that I love these modified Hunter Wellingtons is proof that I am totally insane. It makes no sense why I like these. None at all. I like these obnoxious things. Check out the details. The covering reminds me of cheese cloth? Well, you’ll never see me sporting these. They cost a wopping $808. They don’t have much function as a rain boot either. Maybe they are for fashionable gardeners.

i want…

One piece swimsuit by Vix Swimwear I don’t usually salivate over swimwear. It’s never really been on my radar. I don’t swim all that often and I certainly don’t lie on the beaches of Lake Ontario. I normally only care about swimwear when I’m heading to Barbados is visit family. Once you’ve experienced beaches in the Caribbean it’s hard to look at anything up here with any real concern. However, the lusting changed after I saw this great one piece suit. I love the one shoulder configuration and my god the back of this suit. HOT, it totally sold me. I thought the gold hoop on the front was a nice touch also. I’m not a bikini person, they don’t seem very functional to me and that’s very important. I do like the tankini though. This swimsuit is available at online retailer More Swimsuits. They have a large selection of swimwear and cover ups by companies like Vix Swimwear, Blue Brazil, Ujena, Berrydog and Melissa Odabash. Many women today are turning to online shopping to …

i want…(Chic Blesk Krasota)

Chic Blesk Krasota skating jackets I want to live out my inner figure skater with these fun jackets. This is so great with the tail. I’m not really a velour wearer, but I could be persuaded with these jackets. I could live out my figure skating fantasy on Rollerblades. There is only one retailer in Canada Vertina 525 West Georgia street Vancouver BC Canada V6B 1Z5 604 632 0132

A bag by Renee Davide I love the shape and minimal nature of this tote. The colour is amazing and I love the white thread detail. A red bag is classic and paired with some red shoes, love that. I have a perfect pair of boots to go with this bag, sigh

Threadless ts and contests

It’s another Threadless post. Kevin, a reader and fellow computer nerd told me about an interview with the creative director of Threadless Jeffrey Kalmikoff. His site is also having a contest where you can win a Threadless t. Now onto the ts. Our Radio

i want: Smythe Fall 2006 Coats

Previously I’ve talked about wanting a Smythe Les Vests sailor jacket. The Fall 2006 collection is pretty fun and has a red version of the sailor jacket I loved. This black wool trench is so perfect. I love the length and high waisted belt.

i want: Passenger Pigeon clothing

Passenger Pigeon, the affair continues… I have a coat fetish, big time. I have a double closet dedicated to them. Most of them are vintage, a few are military. There is also my prized possession, Anita. The Bell coat (pictured above) is made from a woolen army blanket. This summer I loved the wrap dress and this fall is no different. I love the Jersey wrap dress made from cotton and bamboo. Instead of birds this one has tree stumps. However another dress has added itself to the mix, the Herringbone Mod Dress. This one is made with bamboo, linen and lined with 100% silk, nice! The tree motive is a big trend with the fall 2006 collection.
