I attended the Adidas Spring 2010 preview day where I saw the Adidas Originals Spring 2010 collection. I also saw the adidas by Stella McCartney and Jeremy Scott for Adidas Spring 2010 collections during the same visit.
There wasn’t too much from the Originals collection that grabbed me. I love the yellow hi tops and the patchwork poncho.
I attended the Adidas Spring 2010 preview day where I saw the Jeremy Scott for Adidas Spring 2010 collection. I also saw the adidas by Stella McCartney Spring 2010 collection during the same visit.
Jeremy Scott for Adidas is outrageous. At first, I wasn’t really sure what to make of it all. After digesting his design style and wearing some of his stuff for a photoshoot, I have to admit I like some of the ideas Jeremy comes up with. I guess this runs in the it’s so bad it’s good territory. I also like that the line is fairly androgynous.
The shoes are my favourite part of the line. They are so ridiculous. I would get a kick out of wearing them.
I attended the Adidas Spring 2010 preview day where I saw the adidas by Stella McCartney Spring 2010 collection. This season Stella expands to include Triathlon and Cycling. I had no idea that there has been Golf clothing in the line for a few seasons.
I’ve always really liked the Adidas by Stella jackets and sweaters. There are always some interesting details. This season zippers and metallics caught my eye. It’s funny that she’s even following the jean leggings trend except her leggings aren’t denim.
Adidas by Stella McCartney is available at Holt Renfrew.
It’s this beautiful tribute post to me from everyone at the House of Constantine. They posted photos that were taken of me in the studio and out and about. These people know me; they got the pose, beer is my alcoholic beverage of choice and the I love the word Fuck. I started crying, thank god I was home at the time. It was really touching and beautiful.
2009 was the year of speaking engagements for me. The lovely Rea McNamara created The Style Council (she also got me glammed up as Grace for Eye Weekly). She asked me to facilitate a session on fashion blogging and also give a demo of fashion styling tools: Polyvore, Looklet and Shmmoter.
The Style Council is a fashion media program that brings together a collective of emerging writers, stylists, and photographers in documenting their own style, as well as what they see on the very streets they walk.
Watch us create Toronto’s first community-driven Stylebook, which will focus on the unique styles of the Dufferin Eglinton / Oakwood Vaughan communities.
The Style Council is a pilot program of Art Starts, an arts-based community development organization that has been operating in Toronto since 1992.
It was very relaxed atmosphere for this presentation. The girls sat on couches while I talked and showed examples on the projector. I used a shorter version of my Queen’s talk (which I’m still angry about not recording, too nervous). The new aspect was the demo of Looklet, Shmotter and Polyvore.
I had to do some research on all those tools before hand. I was familiar with Polyvore because I use it in contests a lot. Most of these type of sites don’t interest me. I can see the value of them for other people. It’s not the way I like to deal with information and frankly I’m sick of creating ANOTHER profile for something. I think Looket is the best out of the 3 tools. It had good model choices, clothing displayed on real bodies, multiple views and poses and a good selection of clothing. Looklet has a blog which adds another layer to the site.
Here are some photos from my session
Each session included documenting fashion inspirations directly from everyone’s outfits
I was one part of a larger effort to disseminate relevant information to these young women in order to create their stylebook. The Style Council tumblr blog documents that journey. The stylebook made its debut at the Hi-Style Holladaze party and fundraiser for Art Starts. At that party Singer/songwriter Saidah Bab Talibah sang. She’s mindblowing.
The Style Council stylebook is really well done. I wasn’t involved in putting together the book so the reveal was a total surprise. Great photos, interviews and articles that gave me some insight about the young women on The Style Council. I’m impressed, proud and honoured to be part of it all.
The Style Council Stylebook is available for purchase for $4 at 69 Vintage Collective (1207 Bloor St. W.) & Art Starts (1746 Eglinton Ave. W.). All $$ goes towards the Style Council.
Some of the trends forecasting reports for Spring Summer 2011 are coming out. I know, I know, ALREADY! It’s true. Come back to this page with updates as more trend stories come up.
If you haven’t heard Adidas is doing a Star Wars collection. People are going going crazy for the adidas x Star Wars Spring 2010. I’m liking the graphic tshirts a lot. I’m also a fan of the Tie Fighter, Stormtrooper and Millennium Falcon sneakers.
Mark Fast was in town last week for a Spring 2010 preview. I wasn’t able to attend the preview during the day but I went to Ame for a cocktails in his honour. Mark is from Manitoba originally. He studied at Seneca College in Ontario briefly before going to London. He attended the prestigious Central Saint Martins and got his BA and MA.
Mark designs by hand on a domestic knitting machine. His work is formed onto the body as he knits, and he has devised innovative stitching techniques, blending lycra with viscose, angora or wool. He is inspired by the endless possibilities of lycra yarns, sculpting areas of tension and areas of volume over the body. Mark’s fascination with the cinema drives his creative process as he channels the energy of the characters who inspire him into his knits. Obsessed with texture, Mark’s most recent work explores the relationship of garments to the wearers body.
I didn’t realize the work that goes into a Mark Fast dress until I saw the models milling about in them. Wow, the details are insane making the dresses very delicate. You have to be careful putting them on for sure. When I talked to Mark briefly, he mentioned the delicate nature of the dresses make him very selective in who he lends things too. He’s a very sweet and soft-spoken man.
Mark Fast x Louboutin Spring 2010 shoes
This season he partnered with Christian Louboutin to design his Spring 2010 footwear
Seeing Mark’s clothing in person totally blew my mind. I have a lot more respect for what he does after touching the garments and learning about his technique. I touched everyone in Mark Fast that night. His clothing has texture and dimension to it.
I remember the first time I saw Pastel Supernova. It was at the AGO Massive Party and I was seeing Fritz Helder and The Phantoms perform for the first of many times in my life. She was and still is an enigma. In true enigma style, she has a pin up calendar.
