Chanel Cruise 2011

Remember Now – Chanel Cruise 2011 Full Video

Remember Now, the short film by Karl Lagerfeld for the Chanel Cruise 2011 collection looked slick and the clothes were oh so pretty but it was empty. It was a 16 minute short film that didn’t evoke an emotional reaction from me that wasn’t related to clothing. That’s too bad. The film nerd in me can’t deal with the stupid continuity issues either. I liked having all this media to consume from Chanel about the cruise 2011 collection. It’s always some grand spectacle to take a gawk at. The collection photos are up already and I’m loving about a quarter of the collection and going WTF for a quarter of it. The rest is meh. There are 80+ LOOKS!!! The first 8 looks put me in a good mood and then it when up and down. Some of the white and black stuff I liked and most of the 70s stuff I wasn’t a fan of. WWD has the full collection posted and you can see it on The Fashion Spot. I can’t wait for …

Remember Now – Chanel Cruise 2011

I’ve totally bought into Remember Now, the short film by Karl Lagerfeld for the Chanel Cruise 2011 collection. The video does look pretty slick and inviting. I can’t wait to see the whole film. EDIT: the preview video was taken down but see this post for the full video.

Chanel Rouge Coco Launch at Holt Renfrew

Chanel Rouge Coco Launch at Holt Renfrew

I saw something pretty cool at the Chanel Rouge Coco Launch at Holt Renfrew. CHANEL introduces a modern interpretation of classic creme lip colour as an homage to the rich life and legacy of ‘Coco’ Chanel. New lightweight lip colour glides on for easy application, and features a Hydratendre complex to help soften, soothe and condition lips – even boosting their ability to hold in moisture – for a plumper, smoother and healthier-looking appearance. A range of wearable shades with full-coverage finishes, from matte to pearl to soft shimmer So Chanel was launching this new lipstick line called Chanel Rouge Coco. Part of the festivities was an artist who was painting with Rouge Coco lipstick. It was amazing. I didn’t try out Rouge Coco. I’m a little intrigued though, perhaps I can find a red lipstick that works for me.

Chanel Couture Spring 2010

Chanel Couture Spring 2010

I enjoyed Chanel’s Spring 2010 couture show even though I disliked the hair. It was nice to see Karl move to a softer colour palette in the pastels and silver. According to style.com, this is the first Karl has shown Chanel without black, navy or gold buttons. It was all very ladylike with the contrast of the silver rococo heel booties. The Chanel suits were my favourite pieces. I mentioned disliking the hair. Too much Bride of Frankenstein for me, however I do appreciate the technique and effort put into it. It’s quite astonishing to see the intricacies of the back. images: style.com

Chanel Haute Couture – Spring Summer 2008

I’m having a love hate relationship with the Chanel Haute Couture – Spring Summer 2008 collection. On one hand, some of the outfits are to die for, very beautiful. However, I hate the presentation. The large tacky Chanel jacket in the background. Why the hell aren’t the models wearing heels. Check out style.it and look at how awful the collection photos are. The models don’t know how to pose in flats and it’s just plain awkward and unflattering. Devon Aoki looks like hell, as does the dress, IMO. The shoes are awful. I do love the wrap skirts and the jackets. images: thefashionspot
