So, Proenza Schouler has been my favourite Pre-fall 2011 collection so far. Zero + Maria Cornejo pre-fall 2011 collection is also among my favourites. I think it’s all about the print for me right now.
Zero + Maria Cornejo always has fashion forward cuts that don’t forget wearability and comfort.
You can find Zero + Maria Cornejo at Holt Renfrew and Jonathan + Olivia.
Jason Wu and I have similar shaped heads. I can’t get that thought out of my mind whenever I look at this picture. I met Jason when he came to The Room for a Trunk Show and cocktail party in his honour. Jason Wu’s bio reads like one of the those prodigy kids. At 16 he was well on his way to becoming a designer creating couture like clothing for dolls at Integrity Toys. At 17, he became the Creative Director of Integrity Toys.
Jason studied fashion design at Parson and started his namesake label in 2006. He created Michelle Obama’s ivory inaugural gown which pushed him into the limelight and made him a household name.
I never appreciated Jason’s collection until I saw it up close. His style is very ladylike; socialite wear if you’d like. The details and fabrics that make his clothing interesting aren’t noticeable in photos. I was really surprised at some of the luxurious fabrics he used in the collections. All clothing is manufactured in the United States.
I do find Jason Wu’s collections are a bit of a hodge podge of looks. I can never seem to grasp an underlying theme or style that stands out as Jason Wu in my mind. Regardless the man does make some pretty clothing with interesting details.
I wasn’t able to interview Jason but I found a video where he talks about his inspiration for Fall Winter 2010 – 2011
These Devon Open Toe Booties by Alexander Wang are fun. Playing with Alexander Wang shoes was a little detour I made while in the mist of playing with Todd Lynn in the personal shopping area of Holt Renfrew. I love the colour and reptile treatment to the leather. I’m not usually a suede fan but I like the contrast it provides. They are pretty comfortable with a reasonable heel height.
The shoes are available at Holt Renfrew Bloor street and online at shopbop.com and net-a-porter.com.
I’m not usually one to like fur on shoes but I like the restraint used with the first two shoes pictured. It does seem a little weird to be selling fur lined sandals for pre-fall though. The shoes are really inventive and I’m loving the green creeper/Dr. Martens influenced shoe. The handbags are to die for. Totally classic and ladylike.
Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2010 is a dream. It serves as a reminder of what we have lost. The best was still ahead for Alexander McQueen. We have pre-fall 2010 and the upcoming fall 2010 to soak up all that is McQueen before the house loses it’s soul.
I’m speechless when it comes to this collection. Great details with the handbags and the shoes. I love the incorporation of the men’s fall 2010 print into the women’s collection.
Oooooh wartime Dior, I’m down. This totally feeds into my military fetish and marks the first time I’ve been interested in Dior in many years. Wow, what is pre-fall 2010 doing, first YSL and now Dior. The light baby blue ruffled dress is my favourite. Oh and I’m loving the leather.
I’ve bashed Dior a fare bit on the site lately. The last time I had something positive to say was Dior Fall 2008 Couture.
I haven’t really liked a Yves Saint Laurent collection since the stellar Fall 2008 one. Pre-Fall 2010 has me optimistic. I like the colour combinations and the more classic wearable looks. I’m obsessed with the white and black jacket. I think it’s fur. Hopefully Stefano Pilati will continue this course into Fall 2010.
I love, love the white jumpsuit and hot pink leather.
Viktor & Rolf went from crazy cutouts to more of their classic menswear inspired looks for the Pre-Fall 2010 collection. The black and white focused collection had two spots of colour, fuchsia and teal. They are cute jumpsuits too.
I even like the little hat. I wonder if it’s styling or part of the collection.
There are a couple of looks from the Jason Wu Pre-Fall 2010 collection that has me interested.
The weird knot detail on these two first pieces are intirguing to me. I really would love to see it in person and get a look at the construction. The rest of the collection is your standard fare for Jason, short cute dresses and coats.
