Flare Magazine x Nadege Macarons

Macarons and fashion are always mentioned together. I should be over everything related to macaron but I’m not. They are just too damn tasty to ignore. Flare and Nadège teamed up to create macaron based on shades from the fall winter 2012 – 2013 collections. You can see all 10 of the creations at Flare.com.

Toronto’s top macaron maker Nadège Nourian, of Nadège Patisserie, has created one-of-a-kind shades just for FLARE inspired by the season’s hottest hues. “This is one of the most challenging projects I’ve ever worked on,” shared Nourian while on set for our macaron photo shoot, “but it was incredibly fulfilling and so much fun to do.” See these delicious confections paired with top looks from the international runways for a sweet visual treat.

Four of the ten custom marcaron created for the editorial are available for purchase at Nadège Patisserie for a limited time. The flavours are (top to bottom in above photo): Chocolate cherry, inspired by Givenchy , Grand Cru chocolate from Brazil, inspired by Balenciaga; Cotton candy, inspired by Stella McCartney and Rose, inspired by Alexander McQueen. At the time of writing, I have eaten the Stella McCartney macaron and it was delicious. I can’t wait to eat this box over the next couple days.

Stella McCartney Ready to Wear – Fall 2010

Stella McCartney Ready to Wear - Fall 2010

I don’t normally talk about Stella McCartney on I want – I got but the fall 2010 collection perked my interest. Stella McCartney has always been a collection that I love in person. She’s good but not someone I’ve vocal about.

Stella McCartney Ready to Wear - Fall 2010

That’s changing with Fall 2010. She went very minimal and sleek with the collection but managed to add some details I didn’t expect: sheer organza, paillettes, and embroidery. There are a few misses, I’m not in love with the fuchsia items and some of the jackets just don’t work. Not a fan of the jumpsuit either.

Stella McCartney Ready to Wear - Fall 2010
I’m noticing a trend with what I call the fashion mullet. Yup, that’s right people, it’s the short long dress. I first noticed it when Coco Rocha debuted that dress from her collection. I wasn’t a fan, it was a bit too costumey. I’m not sure I like the trend and I think it might be gaining speed. Stella wins me over with most of her fashion mullet pieces. I think that is what amazes me most about this.

Adidas by Stella McCartney Spring 2010

Adidas by Stella McCartney Spring 2010

I attended the Adidas Spring 2010 preview day where I saw the adidas by Stella McCartney Spring 2010 collection. This season Stella expands to include Triathlon and Cycling. I had no idea that there has been Golf clothing in the line for a few seasons.

Adidas by Stella McCartney Spring 2010

I’ve always really liked the Adidas by Stella jackets and sweaters. There are always some interesting details. This season zippers and metallics caught my eye. It’s funny that she’s even following the jean leggings trend except her leggings aren’t denim.

geekiviews: More thoughts on Care by Stella McCartney

IMGP0868

In the post geekiviews: Care by Stella McCartney, I talked about the new Stella McCartney skincare product line I’m testing out. I’ve been using the product for a month now and I’m liking it a lot. I am a little surprised that the line doesn’t have eye cream, facial scrub or mask offerings. I received a bunch of different products. Two cleansers, Three elixirs and three moisturizing creams.

I love the foam cleanser. It smells great and isn’t irritating to the skin at all. It also does a very good job of cleaning and removing water based makeup. I have kept the Dermalogica practice of washing my face twice, which first removes any pollution and then gets to cleaning the skin proper. I like the results of this cleanser better than my regular Dermalogica routine.

I also received a cream cleanser which I’ve had no experience with before. I wasn’t even sure how to use cream cleanser until a few months ago. I’ve used the product a couple of times. It’s great for those late nights when you just want to fall into bed but you know you should wash your face. You just rub some in and then tissue it off. It’s very moisturizing since it’s cream based.

The elixirs have different uses. The Calming and Soothing elixir is cream based. The Nourishing and Radiance & Youth elixir are oil based. I really don’t pay attention enough to notice the difference between the Calming and Soothing and Radiance & Youth elixirs. However, the Nourishing elixir is just that. You use it at night and it’s super moisturizing. Perfect for Canadian winters and my dry apartment.

There are 3 types of moisturizing creams, a fluid, cream and night cream. The night cream is used with the Nourishing elixir. The fluid moisturizer is a lighter version of the cream moisturizer. The differences between the cleaners and moisturizers are all about personal preference. I prefer the foam and the fluid myself. All of the products in the line are quite gentle. I like the matte finish of the Stella products as the Dermalogica ones were always a little shiny.

Well readers, I’ve been given a coupon for Care by Stella McCartney that you can redeem at The Bay. Just print it off, it expires in January, 2009

Stella McCartney for LeSportsac is at Holt’s

I saw the a few select pieces at Holt’s Bloor Street on the weekend. They are pretty nice bags. They have a lot more structure to them than normal LeSportsac bags. I’m really in love with the large camera bag in grey quilt.

They didn’t have my favourite bag of the collection though.
