I’m Still Obsessed with the Yves Saint Laurent Tribute Sandals

Yves Saint Laurent is now Saint Laurent Paris and the new website doesn’t have a Tribute shoe anywhere. There are rumour going around that the Tribute Sandal is being discontinued but according to WWD the Tribute line is being reworked and upgraded. I’m still obsessed with them and I hope they are “reworked” too much. With this upcoming design change the urgency to add a pair to my shoe collection has increased. In 2008 the YSL Tribute Sandals started to become the go to shoe for Editors and Celebrities. In my search for information regarding the Tribute’s entry to the market I came across a lot of celebrity references. Apparently, Julliane Moore was the first celebrity to start wearing them There are so many colour combinations and leather choices that I’m not particularly picky about which ones I do buy in the end. I’m not a hot pink person but these are my favourite of the bunch. The purple Tributes are second. images: lyst.com

i want: Yves Saint Laurent Tribute Sandals

I’m totally obsessed with the Yves Saint Laurent Tribute Sandals. Playing in Shrimpton Couture’s Closet has taught me that I need these shoes in my life. A towering platform paired with the ability to match with any outfit, this is perfection. Yves Saint Laurent sandals also come in all the colours of the rainbow. These green leather and coral patent ones are so fun. images: montaignemarket.com

i got: Framework: The YSL’s by Moxy Creative House

I really liked the Moxy Creative House’s Framework. It’s a series of prints celebrating some iconic eyewear of celebrities like Warhol, Johnny Depp, Kurt Cobain, Shock G of Digital Underground, Truman Capote, Geordi LaForge and Malcolm X.  I really liked the YSL version so I ordered the poster sized print. One of the most revered designers of all time, Yves Saint Laurent demonstrated a deeper understanding of aesthetic when he said, “Fashions fade, style is eternal.” This could be no truer than when looking at the man himself, a veritable icon of style. The man understood that even a simple pair of black frames can inform who we are, and more importantly, who we want to be.(source) You can purchase this print or others online at Moxy Creative House. image: moxycreative.com

Yves Saint Laurent New Vintage III

I love the idea of Yves Saint Laurent New Vintage line. This is the third collection.  It’s pretty expensive though. New Vintage, initiated by YSL’s creative director, Stefano Pilati, and Julie Gilhart, is having another go. New Vintage III’s moxie is quite simple: reclaim, recycle and sustain. “The collection is materially comprised of garments made from recycled fabric and from existing patterns instead of new ones, to start a dialogue with the market using known codes and a common language that are reassuring and familiar,” says Pilati about the 180 pieces that will be available this week. Metallic wide leg trousers, velvet tuxedo suiting jackets and leopard-print wrap dresses with a hint of disco pay a refreshing nod to Saint Laurent’s iconic 1970s designs.(source) Pilati adds, “New Vintage is meant to be part of a process, a general attempt to give a sensibility and an education to our public so that it can act consciously toward its environment.”(source) It’s available only at the Paris (38 rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré), London (173-176 Sloane Street) and …

Yves Saint Laurent Spring Summer 2011 Ad Campaign

The new Yves Saint Laurent Spring Summer 2011 Ad Campaign was shot in the gardens of the 30s, Villa Bled Roknine in Marrakech Palmeraie. Daria is out and Arizona Muse is in. I really like her look. Inez & Vinoodh are the photographers. You can read some more info about Bled Roknine here. The campaign makes the clothing look good.  I might have to revisit YSL Spring Summer 2011. images: thefashionspot.com Yves Saint Laurent S/S 11 : Arizona Muse by – the Fashion Spot.

Yves Saint Laurent Pre-Fall 2010

I haven’t really liked a Yves Saint Laurent collection since the stellar Fall 2008 one. Pre-Fall 2010 has me optimistic. I like the colour combinations and the more classic wearable looks. I’m obsessed with the white and black jacket. I think it’s fur. Hopefully Stefano Pilati will continue this course into Fall 2010. I love, love the white jumpsuit and hot pink leather. images: style.com

Following in the footsteps of Fun With Hats is Fun with Shoes. I was sitting in Holt Renfrew waiting for a friend in the shoe department and just started trying shoes for fun. Balenciaga (my favs), Christian Louboutin for Philip Lim 3.1, Balenciaga, YSL Tribute Sandal, Alexander McQueen

i want: Luxury Rebel Boots

I never did get those YSL Tribute Boots but I’m glad the shape of the boot is trickling down so that I can get another chance to snag that shape. These Luxury Rebel boots remind me of the YSL Tribute Boot style. I’m pretty smitten with them. I actually prefer the brown studded pair to the basic black. These will be available at Holt Renfrew at the end of June.

Footwear trends from Fall 2009 – 2010 from the buyers

I found this posts called The Reaction that had the buyers explaining the footwear trends from Fall 2009 – 2010 season. You can read the original articles at The Reaction on WWD.com – March 9, 2009 and The Reaction – WWD.com – March 16, 2009 Barbara Atkin, VP of Fashion Direction, Holt Renfrew Strongest Trends: “The extreme platform and sky-high heel, but also the return of the single sole. Strappy winter shoes that can transition from season to season. The overdesigned statement shoe is still important, and the ankle boot is strong with cutouts.” “Must-Carry” Styles From Milan: Gucci’s thigh-high, long stocking boots Burberry Prorsum’s rubber platform hiking boot Prada’s single-sole Mary Janes with studding and fringe Shift in Buying Strategy: “We are not going to be overly assortive, or as broad as we have been in the past. Rather, we’ll offer the most important DNA from each collection that speaks to our strong point of view.” Stephanie Solomon, Fashion Director, Bloomingdale’s Strongest Trends: “The decorated shoe, over-the-top embellishment with feathers, beads, buckles and nailheads. …

Fashion Show Videos Spring 2009

Yves Saint Laurent Spring 2009 Very pretty and wearable collection, however it didn’t grab me like Fall Winter 2008.
