What is there to say about Celine accessories. They are totally covet worthy and getting better and better each season. Spring Summer 2010 is no exception. I love how Celine might have more muted and neutral colours but totally plays up the colour with accessories.
The ROOTS X DOUGLAS COUPLAND collection includes apparel for women/men/children, accessories, leather goods, design items, furniture, limited editions, original art and a series of pop-up stores. This is the first time Douglas Coupland has designed fashion wearables. He is best known as the internationally best-selling author of “Generation X”, “JPod” and “Generation A”.
“For more than 10 years I’ve been intimately exploring what it means to be Canadian,” says Coupland. “This partnership with Roots is an amazing opportunity to keep that dialogue going with an even wider, more diverse audience.”
The theme created for the ROOTS X DOUGLAS COUPLAND collection is “Canada Goes Electric” and brings together Douglas Coupland’s recognizable perspective with the Roots reputation for quality goods and craftsmanship.
“For the first time in our history, we stepped back and left the design to an outside designer,” explains Don Green, Co-founder of Roots. “Visually the collection is strong but beyond that, Douglas Coupland has once again shown his trademark humour and brilliance in exploring a new medium, in this case fashion. He has put forth a hopeful and positive message about this great country of ours and the results are impressive.”
The Holy Grail is this duffle bag that I spotted on Lisa Tant’s twitpic stream. I can’t find it on the website so it must only be in the pop-up shops that are happening in Vancouver and Toronto until July 24th. The collection will be available to all stores after the 24th.
EDIT: I found out details about the Toronto Pop up Shop
Toronto Location: 680 Queen Street West
Date: July 8th until July 25th
Open: Thursday through Sunday
Hours: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 11am-7pm, Sunday 12pm-6pm.
There was a launch party the night before the A To Zane Pop-up Store opened at Chasse Gardee.
It was there I met Ron Wan a filmmaker who was shooting the party. I’ve discovered the film on his website. I do a little handbag modeling and chatting with Evan Biddell in it. Check it out at his post called A to Zane Pop-up Shop, at Chasse Gardée.
The Toronto based online Handbag shop Atozane.com is having a physical pop up shop this weekend at Chasse Gardee (see post for details). I attended the launch party Thursday night and got to see the handbags up close.
I wrote about my love of the Manon Mini Bag by Tila March previously. Seeing it in person only solidified my desire of this bag. It’s the perfect small sized bag. It has enough room to carry a bit more than the essentials and multiple compartments for storage. I love the chain. It has a shoulder strap that makes it comfortable to wear on one shoulder or crossbody.
The A to Zane Pop up shop is on till June 20, 2010 at Chasse Gardee.

I rediscovered the Chanel Fall 2010 – 2011 ice-cube bags because of a series called Object Fetish on the site Showstudio.com.
Examining key pieces from next seasons international collections, Object Fetish trains obsessive attention onto next seasons not-so-obscure objects of desire – namely the choicest accessories from fashions favourite names, metaphorically unpicked through film and text.
This show was so overwhelming with the glacier and the faux fur all over the place. I didn’t notice any of the accessories. The video really worked up my handbag lust. I love the idea of these bags. They make me laugh because they are so ridiculous, but at the same time I’d love to own one. I enjoy that combination of absurdity and lust. I can’t wait to see these in the stores.
I learned some interesting facts from the Showstudio video about Chanel.
Chanel is one of the very few houses that is entirely privately owned rather than managed by a luxury goods conglomerate, and the house is consistently profitable. This is not just through traditional leaders such as perfume, but accessories, clothing and even the haute couture division at Chanel turns a profit.(source)
