geekiviews: Jean Leggings by Joe’s Jeans

I received a package containing a pair of Zip Ankle Jean Legging in Black by Joe’s Jeans from Holt Renfrew PR just before Christmas. Jean Leggings were never something I would have tried before this package arrived. I hate to say it, I’ve drunk the koolaid, I like them. When I pulled them out of the magenta bag, they looked a little small. I’ve come to realize that you need to buy them smaller than you think. They are denim and do stretch a bit. They are comfortable, it was the first thing that surprised me. They are like wearing non-denim leggings. The fabric is stretchy and soft. The zippers on the side make it easy to put on and remove. I checked out the stash at Holt’s. They have a ton of different styles included distressed denim, acid wash and  tie dye. The price range is $116 – $140. The pair I have are $128. Oh New Year’s Eve, what a hilarious party. I didn’t take any photos myself but a photographer named Will took a ton of photos and posted them on his website Lost in the WILLDERNESS. My mask is creepy as hell isn’t it.  When I showed it to my cats they were hissing like crazy at me. I’m loving Photoscape.  It’s a great freeware photo editor and it allowed me to combine these photos with ease. images: lostinthewillderness.com

She Takes on the World Women of the Year 2009

On December 31, I received an email with this subject line, “You are a Woman of the Year Honoree.” WTF is this, I thought. Woman of the Year?  Is someone playing a joke on me. It has to be spam, like that Princeton Premier stuff. It was real and it shocked me. There are many large publications that publish an annual Women of the Year list and I’m always disappointed when I see the lists populated with female celebrities and women who already have a very high profile, not to say these women haven’t had notable accomplishments. She Takes on the World Women of the Year pays tribute to a diverse group of women ranging from teachers to social innovators to entrepreneurs. These are women we have been inspired by this year in our every day lives. They may not be celebrities -although some of them are well on their way -but one thing is for sure: these bold, fearless women are taking on the world. I attended the Adidas Spring 2010 preview day where I saw the Adidas Originals Spring 2010 collection. I also saw the adidas by Stella McCartney and Jeremy Scott for Adidas Spring 2010 collections during the same visit. There wasn’t too much from the Originals collection that grabbed me. I attended the Adidas Spring 2010 preview day where I saw the Jeremy Scott for Adidas Spring 2010 collection. I also saw the adidas by Stella McCartney Spring 2010 collection during the same visit. Jeremy Scott for Adidas is outrageous. At first, I wasn’t really sure what to make of it all. After digesting his design style and wearing some of his stuff for a photoshoot, I have to admit I like some of the ideas Jeremy comes up with. I guess this runs in the it’s so bad it’s good territory. I also like that the line is fairly androgynous. The shoes are my favourite part of the line. Adidas by Stella McCartney Spring 2010

I attended the Adidas Spring 2010 preview day where I saw the adidas by Stella McCartney Spring 2010 collection. This season Stella expands to include Triathlon and Cycling. I had no idea that there has been Golf clothing in the line for a few seasons. I’ve always really liked the Adidas by Stella jackets and sweaters. There are always some interesting details. This season zippers and metallics caught my eye. It’s funny that she’s even following the jean leggings trend except her leggings aren’t denim. The House of Constantine: Our Girl Anita Clarke

I get a message from the @gretconstantine twitter account telling me to check out their blog. The first post on the site is called The House of Constantine: Our Girl Anita Clarke. It’s this beautiful tribute post to me from everyone at the House of Constantine. They posted photos that were taken of me in the studio and out and about. These people know me; they got the pose, beer is my alcoholic beverage of choice and the I love the word Fuck. I started crying, thank god I was home at the time. It was really touching and beautiful.

Art Starts presents The Style Council

2009 was the year of speaking engagements for me. The lovely Rea McNamara created The Style Council (she also got me glammed up as Grace for Eye Weekly). She asked me to facilitate a session on fashion blogging and also give a demo of fashion styling tools: Polyvore, Looklet and Shmmoter. The Style Council is a fashion media program that brings together a collective of emerging writers, stylists, and photographers in documenting their own style, as well as what they see on the very streets they walk. Watch us create Toronto’s first community-driven Stylebook, which will focus on the unique styles of the Dufferin Eglinton / Oakwood Vaughan communities. The Style Council is a pilot program of Art Starts, an arts-based community development organization that has been operating in Toronto since 1992. It was very relaxed atmosphere for this presentation. The girls sat on couches while I talked and showed examples on the projector. I used a shorter version of my Queen’s talk (which I’m still angry about not recording, too nervous). The new aspect …
