Akira Isogawa Ready to Wear – Spring 2009

Lovely collection from Akira Isogawa. I’m totally obsessed with the Japanese this season, Undercover, Yojhi, It’s the obi belts; almost every designer that has used them has gotten me by the heartstrings. Louis Vuitton Ready to Wear – Spring 2009

Louis Vuitton was quite stellar this year. Marc ported the obi belts and the colour palette from his Marc Jacobs collection to LV and they look fantastic. This collection reminds me a lot of YSL’s Africa collection (which I saw parts of in Montreal). I’m sure this was intentional and perhaps a nod to the dearly missed designer. Frillr has the Runway Video for Louis Vuitton up. I downloaded it and watched it on my Nano one morning going to work. You have to see it, just amazing. You can see the whole collection at Louis Vuitton Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear Collection on Style.com: Complete Collection

L’Oreal Fashion Week Spring 2009 – Holt Renfrew celebrates Canadian Fashion

After a season off the Holt Renfrew celebrates Canadian Fashion event was back on the LFW schedule. This is one of my favourite events of fashion week. It gives you the ability to see the clothing up close and meet the designers. This season it was hosted by Adrian Mainella of Fashion File instead of the free for all type atmosphere that was present in previous ventures. A clothing designer was paired up with a jewelry designer to showcase the work. There was a little Q&A session with each designer pair conducted by Adrian. First to show was partners in crime, Greta Constantine and Dandi Maestre. I’m a big fan of the designers work. They really complemented each other in the presentation, which was different from the runway show where I thought Danni’s accessories overpowered the clothing. Get rid of the handbags and what do you know, balance is once again restored. I had a bit of bias at the show too because I was lucky enough to get a preview of the Greta collection …

Ann Demeulemeester Ready to Wear – Spring 2009

I have a few favourite collections from Paris so far: Balenciaga, Rick Owens and Undercover. Ann Demeulemeester is now a the top of this list because of the sheer volume of looks I liked. Everything she did was pretty much perfection. See the rest of this collection at the Fashion Spot – Ann Demeulemeester S/S 09 Paris images: same source

geekiviews: Care by Stella McCartney

My package of Care by Stella McCartney skincare products came by FedEx today. Just in time too, I was about to make my quarterly purchase of Dermalogica products. My friends at Matchstick like me being a guinea pig. Yay! The line consists of: Nourishing Elixir, 5 Benefits Moisturising Cream, 5 Benefits Moisturising Fluid, Gentle Cleansing Milk, Purifying Foaming Cleanser, Toning Floral Water, Calming+Soothing Elixir, Radiance+Youth Elixir and the Nourishing Night & Day Cream. The packaging is pretty. I’ll be diving in and using this product instead of my regular Dermalogica products baring any allergic reactions. Watch this space for my opinions.

Balenciaga Ready to Wear – Spring 2009

At first look, I wasn’t into the Balenciaga Spring collection. I’ve looked at the collection again and seen the details. I’m now a fan. Nicolas Ghesquière has gone heavy on the Sci-Fi and I love him for it. It’s not quite like Spring 2007, my dream Balenciaga collection, but it’ll do. I’m going to name the shoes The Tron Shoes. I can’t say I would wear them, but they intrigue me because of their construction. It’s more than a sock over some shoes. images: www.thefashionspot.com, style.it
