an i want and i got..

I’ve been feeling the ring love recently. I have a rather long history of not wearing rings. It all stems from high school when I lost one that was very important to me. Recently a good friend of mine bought we this wicked ring with a blue hummingbird on it. I loved it and of course I lost it. However, I haven’t given up and I recently picked up two costume jewelery rings. Refinery29 recently linked to Melissa Joy Manning whose jewelery is breathtaking and available in Toronto! She also runs a ethical business out of L.A. which makes these designs so much more sweet. Geology nerds are probably salivating over some of these designs.

i want…

Miranda cuff by Whitelotus Design Edina Racz is a successful Toronto jewelery designer. She has been on my posting radar for a while, but it’s just been one of those things I haven’t gotten to yet. She helped me along by emailing me about her designs. I love the colours in this bracelet, perfect for the upcoming warm weather. Edina makes them in different colours using different materials. Semiprecious gemstones and metals, silver and Swarovski crystals are the ingredients of Whitelotus jewelery.

The Honeyroom

Andrea dropped me an email to let me know about her online store, The Honeyroom. She offers eclectic accessories and tshirts. I checked out her online boutique and she’s definitely hit on some trends with her offerings. 1. Strawberries – Andrea has this covered with red and black necklaces for sale. 2. Owls – She’s tapped into the Owl trend with necklaces in gold, brass and silver. I actually own an owl necklace very similar to the silver version Andrea sells. There are some Owl earrings too. The items I want are the wide yellow belt and this Burnt Orange shopper handbag. She is currently running a promotion. You get 15% off on orders of $40 more. Just enter the code honey1978 at checkout.

i want…

Pumpkin Spice necklace by Modish I love the use of the blackberry motive in this design. I’ve seen it in other designers and it gets me everytime. It makes me happy when people email me tips. I got an email from Liz Yeung, one half of the Modish duo. She asked me to take a look at their jewelry designs and I liked what I saw. Each piece is hand-crafted and uses a combination of semi-precious stones, glass beads and pearls, all imbued with silver or gold. This Vancouver based team have found their products available in stores across Canada and the US. A very simple necklace but the stones make this necklace gorgeous. Modish is available in Toronto at Out on a Limb 1755 Avenue Road (416) 785-5592 For those of you not in the Tdot, you can order online.

i want…

Owl cocktail ring by Karen Walker Jewelery I’m not a big ring person but I’m in love with this Owl Cocktail Ring. It’s available in different metals like sterling silver (my favourite), white gold and yellow gold. Karen is definitely working the animal jewelry trend. In addition to owls she also uses lions. I really like the Lion head pendant. The product shots on her website are really innovative. I love the use of animals. I’m pretty sure the lobster was probably dead before shooting this but I’m not sure about the others.

i want: Biba Ball by Alexis Bittar

i got: Foxy Originals Necklaces

Jasmine Necklace by Foxy Originals Chai Necklace Foxy had a booth in the small vendor area at L’Oreal Fashion Week. I have looked at different designs from Foxy before but never were jazzed by anything. These two necklaces however struck me. I picked up the Jasmine in bronze colour and Chai in gold. All necklaces from Foxy are made from pewter. Enamel, stones, leather and ultra-suede are incorporated in different pieces. images: foxyoriginals.com

i got…

Ever since I did The Owl Files Series (Apparel, Jewelry, Accessories), I’ve been on the lookout for Owl necklaces. It seems that they have reached critical mass and are now readily available in local stores. These pictures are pretty horrible, but you get the idea. These two came from Want Boutique at Yonge/St. Clair. The right one is very similar to necklaces that I featured in the post. These two came from Obsessions Fashion Accessories which is located in the Path of the TD Tower. It’s a great place to get jewelry. Four necklaces is looking a lot like a collection. I’ll have to talk about my other collections in later posts. I have a collection of vintage Adidas track jackets that need their praise.
