IDS10: I want – I got Favourite Things Part 3

I love wandering the aisles of The Interior Design Show floor scanning for things that catch my eye.  This year Paul and I avoided the products.  We were on a tight timeline and learned what to focus on from last year.  Sleek kitchen appliance and tiling are not things I’m too interested in or have use for on I want – I got.  This is the final post in my three part series called IDS10: I want – I got Favourite Things. Andrew Richard Designs x Bustle – Designers pairing up with Designers for a range of outdoor furniture based on the Spring 2010 Collection. Smash – I loved the mismatch bookshelves with strategically placed lights Balance Glassworks – What a novel concept for display and space saving.  Note: This image was incorrectly tagged as Tsunami Glassworks in Part 2.  The correct image now displays so visit Part 2 to see. Slide – The glowing lamps attracted me. The lookbook has more goodies that I will scan and share soon You can view all the …

IDS10: I want – I got Favourite Things Part 2

I love wandering the aisles of The Interior Design Show floor scanning for things that catch my eye. This year Paul and I avoided the products. We were on a tight timeline and learned what to focus on from last year. Sleek kitchen appliance and tiling are not things I’m too interested in or have use for on I want – I got. This is the second post in my three part series called IDS10: I want – I got Favourite Things. Rado x Jasper Morrison – Beautiful watches. Love the sleek, black and minimal design. EDIT:  Jan 29, 2010 late night blogging.  Not good.  Wrong picture was attached originally.  Corrected picture is above. Tsunami Glassworks – It was the first thing I saw as my head peaked over the escalator stairs. It’s an attention grabber and reminds me of a large lava lamp minus the glass and fluid. Jamie Hayon – I was sad to miss his talk on Trade Day. I also left the party at Jonathan + Olivia party as he was …

IDS10: I want – I got Favourite Things Part 1

I love wandering the aisles of The Interior Design Show floor scanning for things that catch my eye.  This year Paul and I avoided the products.  We were on a tight timeline and learned what to focus on from last year.  Sleek kitchen appliance and tiling are not things I’m too interested in or have use for on I want – I got.  This is the first post in my three part series called IDS10: I want – I got Favourite Things. Foscarini x Diesel – I couldn’t believe any of these gorgeous fixtures were associated with Diesel. I’m impressed. Tahir Mahmood – This was my absolute favorite artist of the night. The wood mortal and pestles are so beautiful. The fact that Tahir can move from wood to ceramic lamps with ease is amazing. Cubeshops – I can’t believe I didn’t know this store is on Baldwin Street in Toronto. It’s super kawaii and I squealed like a little girl with every new discovery. Science & Sons – This radio totally tugged at the …

i want: Design + Conquer Jewellery

Someone from the Design + Conquer Jewellery twitter account send me a message alerting me to their line. I’m assuming it was the designer, but you never know these days. It took me a couple days to see the message because I don’t look at the I want – I got account for replies that often. I was pleasantly surprise and then drooling when I opened the Design + Conquer website. Morgan Mallett, the designer, has an extensive art education. She started Design + Conquer in 2008. The pieces in the picture are made out of flexible polymers which make the jewellery durable and light. The large neckpiece is available for custom order only.  Neck measurements are part of the transaction. It’s my favourite piece out of them all, what a conversation piece. Design + Conquer also partnered with Jessica Biffi for her Spring 2010 collection creating an exclusive pair of earrings. Design + Conquer Jewellery has an Etsy Store where you can buy the designs online and at Corktown Designs in the Distillery District …

Andy Thê-Anh Gets a New Look

Lots of changes are going down at Andy Thê-Anh. He’s moving his Yorkville store from 83 Yorkville Avenue 27 Bellair Street. He’s also heading north and Bayview Village location has been added at 2901 Bayview Avenue. In addition to the new stores, Andy had re-branded. Why Andy Thê-Anh is launching a new visual identity? For the brand, it will mark a new milestone: we want to embrace our past, but look to the future.  Our new identity will enable us to continue positioning ourselves in the high-end market and have a visual look that matches our growth ambitions. It is also important for us to have a logo that doesn’t necessarily need our brand name to identify our collection and our accessories in the eye of the public. What is the image you want to convey with that new identity? Our new identity will mirror the high-end, sophisticated image of Andy Thê-Anh’s creations. It is important at this stage in our development to have symbols and colors that identify us clearly and that people can …

Dandi Maestre Spring 2010 Lookbook

Toronto based, Dandi Maestre’s colourful Spring 2010 jewellery caught my eye at the Holt Renfrew Pop up shop. I loved seeing this burst of colour in her designs. She recently send me her new lookbook and it’s stunning. The line is branching from jewellery to include more accessories that still fit with her signature style. I love it. There are a lot of photos but I can’t help but share this with you all. Dandi Maestre can be found at Holt Renfrew, the AGO, Thieves Boutique and Ziliotto Designs in Toronto. Check out the website to find other locations across Canada and the US. images: courtesy of Dandi Maestre

The House of Constantine: Our Girl Anita Clarke

I get a message from the @gretconstantine twitter account telling me to check out their blog. The first post on the site is called The House of Constantine: Our Girl Anita Clarke. It’s this beautiful tribute post to me from everyone at the House of Constantine. They posted photos that were taken of me in the studio and out and about. These people know me; they got the pose, beer is my alcoholic beverage of choice and the I love the word Fuck. I started crying, thank god I was home at the time. It was really touching and beautiful.
