In the post geekiviews: Care by Stella McCartney, I talked about the new Stella McCartney skincare product line I’m testing out. I’ve been using the product for a month now and I’m liking it a lot. I am a little surprised that the line doesn’t have eye cream, facial scrub or mask offerings. I received a bunch of different products. Two cleansers, Three elixirs and three moisturizing creams. I love the foam cleanser. It smells great and isn’t irritating to the skin at all. It also does a very good job of cleaning and removing water based makeup. I have kept the Dermalogica practice of washing my face twice, which first removes any pollution and then gets to cleaning the skin proper. I like the results of this cleanser better than my regular Dermalogica routine. I also received a cream cleanser which I’ve had no experience with before. I wasn’t even sure how to use cream cleanser until a few months ago. I’ve used the product a couple of times. It’s great for those late …

I’m drinking the koolaid hard. The more and more I use the Ôscillation by Lancôme the more I like it. The main reason I love this mascara so much is the consistent results. My lashes look the same every time I apply. I’m not a big fan of the clumpy mascara look and I really like the application of the product. They are thin, long and separated. There is a Canadian website now, oscillation.ca. The product will be at The Bay from December 6, 2008. I missed out on the Ôscillation One Day Sale on Thursday November 20th at Lancome.ca, The Bay Queen Street and La Baie Montreal. It was sold out by the time I goto the website. Seems demand will be brisk on December 6, I hope I can get another one before they are all sold out. I have no idea when or if they will restock and I was told that supplies will be limited. I hate good ideas poorly executed. It was bad from the absolute beginning and frustrating. I received a package of items from the company My Tagalongs via Ashworth & Associates. They are the makers of a great product called Tagalongs which are disposable underwear. They are perfect to keep around for a variety of reasons. I keep a pair at the gym for those days I forget to stock up my locker and I’m left with no underwear after coming out of the shower. Those days are not fun and Tagalongs have saved my ass before. The first item was the Emergency Valet for $30 bucks. It includes a metal crush-proof Tampon Tube (it looks like a cigar holder), portable Eco-Chic Tote, Sticky Notes To Go (different sizes in one pad) and a 911 Tin (a sewing kit, pre-cut double-sided clothing tape, tweezers, a nail file, a hair elastic, band-aids and individually wrapped flossers). I tend to avoid mascara that requires two products to work. Too time consuming and I think that it’s a bit of overkill. The product should deliver results without the white base coat first. I had a day off work so I attend the preview of the new Lancôme mascara. Ôscillation, Mascara by Lancôme. So the whole buzz about this mascara is that it vibrates. That knowledge brought out a lot of comments about eye poking and other injuries from most people. It’s not actually like that. The technology is nothing like your electric toothbrush. The brush oscillates at 7,000 vibrations per minute. Partner this action with a specially made formula and there you go. The oscillation aspect of the brush was chosen in order to mimic the way professional makeup artists would apply the product. Jean-Louis Guéret, the designer of all Lancôme brushes gave a short talk about the product and the history of mascara. It was fascinating to be honest and it made me regret not getting into Chemistry when I had the chance. Could you imagine the R&D lab for Lancôme mascara!!!! My package of Care by Stella McCartney skincare products came by FedEx today. Just in time too, I was about to make my quarterly purchase of Dermalogica products. My friends at Matchstick like me being a guinea pig. Yay! The line consists of: Nourishing Elixir, 5 Benefits Moisturising Cream, 5 Benefits Moisturising Fluid, Gentle Cleansing Milk, Purifying Foaming Cleanser, Toning Floral Water, Calming+Soothing Elixir, Radiance+Youth Elixir and the Nourishing Night & Day Cream. The packaging is pretty. I’ll be diving in and using this product instead of my regular Dermalogica products baring any allergic reactions. Watch this space for my opinions.

Melissa from Harper Collins send me the new book The One Hundred: A Guide to the Pieces Every Stylish Woman Must Own by Nina Garcia and illustrated by Ruben Toledo. Regular readers will remember that I review Nina’s other book, The Little Black Book of Style a while back. Nina decided to write the book because she is always asked what are the classic or must have pieces necessary for one’s wardrobe. So she put together a list of things she simply cannot live without. She goes on to say that this list isn’t the be all or end all and that a lot of self editing should be applied for your own personal style. She says the list is a guide and contains items that have lasted throughout the years. Nina always stresses the individual aspect of style in all her books and I appreciate that from her. This is the second post in a series about the Zune. You can read the first post here. To recap, I’m a guinea pig testing out the Microsoft Zune – 8G. I have Matchstick to thank for this. I’m one of 300 people in Canada in the program. So I’ve been fully immersed in the Zune for the last couple of weeks. I have a lot to say, but I’m going to talk about the Zune Premium Headphones right now. All headphones provided with media players are crap, so I was pleased when I was provided the upgrade. I have a pair of Shure Headphones which I love to death, so these would have to be pretty good for me to be impressed. The Zune Premium Headphones are a step up from the standard but they aren’t my Shures, that’s for sure. (bad pun!).
