i got: Fashematical by Fashematics aka Jonathan Zawada

Fashematical by Fashematics aka Jonathan Zawada Fashematics is the brilliant website by Jonathan Zawada. It a blog that combines math and fashion. I’m so in love with it. Jonathan created an amazing zine recently and I immediately ordered it. This book was published to commemorate the 50th fashematics equation created for Zawada’s fashematics.com blog. Jonathan created this zine of his favourite looks from the Spring/Summer 2010 runway shows, reinterpreting the models as part of either a horde of zombies or an army of robots. It is a flip-flop zine that reads inwards from both covers beginning with either a Zombie Karl Lagerfeld or Android Lagerfeld sticker. Features clothes by Prada, Bernhard Willhelm, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Chanel and more… $16 (AUD) for international shipping. BUY IT HERE! I’m loving the robots more than the zombies but it’s all a lot of fun. images: fashematics.com

i got: The Sartorialist by Scott Schuman

When I saw a quick preview of Scott’s book at his Holt Renfrew Party, I knew I had to own it. Well, a few weeks ago back I found it at Chapters and picked it up. There is not much to say about the book except that it is full of interesting people (some of which I actually know!) in beautiful clothing. Scott also talks about some of his subjects and the circumstances behind the shots. It gets my thumbs up. You can order The Sartorialist by Scott Schuman on Amazon or grab it in your local bookstore.

India Diaries: Bracelet Overload

When I was in India, I went crazy and bought at ton of cheap bracelets from the Dilli Haat market. I basically have sleeves of bracelets in different colours. Here are some of my finds that I’ve been posting on twitter. I’m wearing two sets here. The set that looks blue is actually purple. My friend Sonja got a good picture to some of my bracelets on the weekend. I bought a lot of blingy bracelets in India because they were bright and fun. I came home with sets of bracelets but I still wish I bought more.

i got: A Fun and Firty Summer Dress

I actually bought this dress last year. I noticed it in the window display of Zara. I was immediately drawn to the print. The Oracle though it was a good find and so I rushed in and got a sale associate to find me the dress. I wanted it at any costs, even if she had to get in there and strip it off the mannequin. It’s only things I have from Zara that was full price. I love Zara during sale time. When I got this picture back from Sangria Saturday fun this past weekend, I realized the power of the print on this dress. I haven’t had any pictures that displayed the print like this, so I never really noticed. I felt compelled to share it with you. It was very windy when this photo was taken, there is no New Look skirt action happening here. This dress can be a challenge in the wind, lol.

i got: A Weekend Bag by m0851

My Weekend Bag by m0851 is one of my favourite bags and gets a lot of usage. It has a laptop storage pocket holds my EEE Pc and still has room to spare for the multitudes of crap I manage to bring with me daily. This bag is a year old now but I’ve noticed that it’s very popular with some of my friends. So popular that I’ve decided to take photos when I run into someone with one. Mine is the Robin’s egg blue version. I was salvating over the purple one too, but alas that is not mine but Monique from Moonrox’s. The brown version belongs to Andrew Sardone from Now Magazine. The bag’s popularity really lies in it’s versatility and minimal design. The buttery m0851 leather helps also. It’s utilitarian design is something that both men and women can use. It lacks a gender, which I find very appealing. Even though the bags are produced season after season, m0851 changes the colours each season. m0851 is a Canadian company that still designs …

i got: Neon Nails

I went with friends to their regular nail salon in the Yonge and Lawrence area called Cozy Nails. It’s not in my area of town but I was curious and the price was right, $40 + tax for a mani and pedi. I always get the obnoxious nail polish. It used to be the metallics and dark blues. I went super obnoxious, the Essie neon collection. Perky Purple and Funky Limelight were like beacons guiding me to the colour wall. Funky Limelight for the hands and Perky Purple for the toes. The service at Cozy Nails was excellent. There were two girls working on me at once so it was very quick service. We sat in large black chairs with all the massaging extras. A number of drinks are available for purchasing including teas and smoothies. They also have a nail drying station with fans for both hands and feet. I was very pleased with my manicure and pedicure. The pedicure is still looking fresh a week later. The manicure doesn’t unfortunately and it was …

i got: Lumieres de Paris a Scarf by Hermès

So I’ve been drooling over Hermès scarfs for a long time on I want – I got. Containing 65 grams of silk from 250 cocoons, 90 centimetres square, the Hermes scarf has become a standard for good workmanship and discreet luxury. It requiring up to two years of work to produce one of these wearable art that is an expression of its style and luxury. From 1837, Thierry Hermès made harnesses and saddles for a privileged clientele. Boots, jewelry, home decor items, and silk scarves were added to the company’s range. In 1920, his grandson Emile included luggage. The first scarf square to accompany the Hermès collection was produced in 1928, inspired by that worn by Napoleon’s soldiers. It was a big success that resulted in a workshop, then a factory, for scarf production being set up at Lyon in 1937. Each Hermes design requires: * nine to twelve months of research and development; * fifty-odd designers, * ideas drawn from styles such as baroque, * contributions from artists such as Matisse. Six to eight …

i got: A Raglan Printed A-Line Tunic by Juma

This image is a little different to most of the i got posts I make. I decided to switch it up and add an action shot. I’m wearing a Raglan Printed A-Line Tunic by Juma. I’m wearing it as a dress here, but it would look great with skinny pants or leggings. My friend Naomi is wearing a cute Tshirt dress and belt from the Gap. The ring is Toni Cavelti. Since she was in the photo I thought you’d might like to know what she is wearing too.

i got: A Marni Bracelet

I was treated to belated birthday gift, A Marni Bracelet. I’m in love. You could imagine how excited when I saw this box. I’m convinced that half the retail cost of luxury goods are for packaging. The packaging was pretty cool. Not only was the box wrapped in grey ribbon, there was a pouch for the bracelet inside. I’ve always liked Marni’s jewellery. It’s clunky and colourful. Definitely statement making and it will wear you if you don’t have the personality to match. This bracelet is more subdued than others, I love it’s simplicity and colour scheme.

i got: A Necklush

Necklush.com I was browsing through Etsy one day and discovered the Necklush. It’s part scarf and part chunky necklace. I needed to have one. So, I put in my order. I also found them on twitter and told them I was excited to receive my Necklush. They told me that each one is made to order and that I should expect it soon. I kinda wish I bought a thicker stranded Necklush. I would suggest that anyone who is interested in buying one to get the thicker versions. The colour schemes are varied enough to suit everyone’s taste whether it’s a neutral or a bright colour. I had a very, very hard time deciding which one to choose. So hard, that I’m already scoping out my next purchase. Perhaps the Supreme Necklush :). The Necklush can be worn in a number of ways and they even produced a video for customers. Necklush is made from cut cotton loops. We screenprint the designs ourselves, making the multicolored ones very limited. Necklush can be worn as a …
