He’s generously offered a discount for I want – I got readers. You’ll get a 30% discount with code IWANTIGOT when purchasing online.
Dolce & Gabbana Mens Fall 2010 Backstage
The kind people at Swide.com emailed me some pictures of the backstage action at the Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2010 fashion show. I thought I should share some of my favourite shots. Some are just purely eye candy, very good eye candy.
You can watch the full mens Fall 2010 collection from Dolce & Gabbana on the website. The whole collection felt very mobster. I liked the clothing and did not enjoy the presentation. It was information overload for me. I was amazed at the number of models that were cast for the show. The final walkout was insane.
Here is a video that discusses some key looks from the Fall 2010 mens collection; providing information about material and techniques.

Words escape me when I try to talk about this jacket. It’s a stunning statement of all that is good about Alexander McQueen.

INOA by L’Oreal Professional Preview
I received a black bubble envelope in the mail. I open it up and it’s an invite to the launch of Inoa, L’Oreal Professionel’s new ammonia free hair colour. Normally, I pass on hair relaxed things but I’ve enjoyed other L’Oreal presentations I’ve been privy to, so why not. The package had CD. I figured it was your typical press kit and photo combo. It wasn’t. It was a single video in English and French versions.
Video previews for an event are a first for me; I had to share.
RIP Phi
One of my favourite labels Phi is shutting down. Their amazing Spring 2010 collection never went into production. When I’m in Holt Renfrew I look at the final few pieces of Phi and mourn a little. It seemed they were just hitting their stride. For the last few seasons, Phi had been pumping out some drool worthy collections.
Seeing this Phi Fall 2009 ad campaign by Steven Meisel prompted me to write this post. Not only did Phi have great clothing, I loved the ad campaigns. Phi Fall 2009 featured my fav, Sasha.
Phi was one of the shows I saw in NYC at fashion week. It was my first viewing of the super popular models of Spring 2009 like Sasha P, Freja, Kinga, Irina, Hye, Suvi and Natasha. I was in awe of these people. It was then I learned that my instinct not to compare myself to these people was correct. They are freaks of nature (the a good way) and most people will never look like them.
How can we forgot the beautiful Art Deco inspired ad campaign for Spring 2009.
I also like the Fall 2008 campaign.

Karen Elson is just stunning. I love how her red hair stands out in these gorgeous shots.

(untitled) by Maison Martin Margiela
(untitled) is the first perfume by Maison Martin Margiela which was three years in the making. The scent itself doesn’t appeal to me but I’m very interested in its presentation.
The scent is, as Martin wished, a ‘green flash’ – an olfactory equivalent and translation of the blank canvas and cleansing visual signature ‘white’ of Margiela. It is at once, clean, fresh and astringent, eschewing the floral hallmarks of contemporary perfumes and harking back to 1970’s trends, such as Chanel’s Nº19.

The final chosen scent for (untitled) was selected by Martin himself, and went directly into production by L’Oreal (without market testing) after only three samples were created at Givaudan by Perfumer Daniela Andrier, who muses:
“I know that perfume must not follow a fashion or a trend, but an instinct. This first perfume expresses a femininity which does not fit into formal categories. I am grateful to Maison Martin Margiela for whispering the formula for this perfume into my ear.â€

I love the idea of a scent with cedar in it, but musky perfumes never work with my chemistry. They always seem okay in theory but doesn’t smell good when applied. I’m a floral girl for sure.
(untitled) scents
- Top Notes: Galbanum essence, Box green, Bitter orange blossom absolute
- Middle Notes: Lentiscus resinoid, Jasmine, Galbanum resinoid
- Base notes: Musk, Cedar, Incense resinoid
I love the look of the perfume. Martin Margiela and creative director Fabien Baron worked together to come up with the design. It encompasses the look of the 19th century and the MMM signature white.
“The development and creation of the first perfume from Maison Martin Margiela has been a marvellous experience. L’Oreal has given us all possible support in guiding us into this new world. Expressing our creativity and revealing our identity through such a special and unique essence is something we have wanted to do for a very long time. It fits in well with the consistent quality of our artistic universe, and is a natural counterpart to our collections, architectural projects, accessories and so on. We are extremely proud of the result, in all its aspects. We will waste no time in starting work on a new project, with a team of such talent and inspiration at our disposal.†– Maison Martin Margiela.
I guess this project was completed before the man left the house this year. (untitled) will be available exclusively at Colette on January 25. It will be rolled out to the US initially through Maison Martin Margiela stores in March. Within the first year they expect to have 500 outlets worldwide selling the perfume.
(untitled) Eau de parfum comes in comes in 30ml, 50ml and 75ml sizes and costs $79.70, $115.90 and $144.90 USD respectively. There is also a 200-ml body lotion and a 200-ml shower gel each at $43.45 USD.

Philip Sparks Fall 2010 Preview Video
I’m getting excited for Fall 2010 and our local designers. Here is a Philip Sparks Fall 2010 Preview video.
I’m really looking forward to Philip’s collection! I’m sure it will be full of menswear that I can’t fit into. I do own a sweater by Philip in extra small. It’s cozy.
