Prada Spring Summer 2011

I haven’t talked about the Spring Summer 20111 collections much yet. TIFF really threw me off and a lot of shows haven’t wowed me. Things started to pick up in Milan and I got a bit more interested. Expect some more posts about the collections I enjoyed for Spring Summer 2011. Miuccia Prada described the Prada Spring Summer 2011 collection as “minimal Baroque” and “exaggerated simplicity.” Tim Blanks saw references from hospital scrubs and Josephine Baker. I liked a lot of the bold colour, stripes and prints. The shoes were a little suspect, but another indicator of the 90s revival in fashion. The sunglasses are growing on me. My initial reaction was WTF but now I’m thinking I need a pair of sunglasses that make my neon yellow Prada Postcard look tame. I like the two looks: nerdy and girly. I’m loving the handbags.  The satchel shape is great for bright colour and bold stripes. The full video is out. It’s the same location as the men’s show. images: style.com

LAX Diaries – Day 2

My first full day in California started with a trip to Rodeo Drive. It seems pretty fitting that my first sightseeing trip in LA would be its luxury centre. The actual road is pretty short but the surrounding blocks have other high-end and moderately priced clothing shops like Roots, Club Monaco and Gap. There were high-end stores I would have never expected to see like Harry Winston. We walked in and took at look at the celeb worn jewels but didn’t walk past the burly security guard who watched over the area where the sales staff where. I didn’t go into a lot of stores as I was a bit overwhelmed with the options. LA is a huge tourist town and I always find it funny to see people taking pictures at some cheesy Rodeo Drive landmark like a sign or water fountain. This happened everywhere, It’s that movie influence and one of the few things I find distasteful about LA. Most of the stores where fairly plain-looking. It seemed only the Prada store lived …

i want: Postcard Sunglasses by Prada

I love the fluorescent green Postcard Sunglasses by Prada. They really were made for me and they match my Blackberry case. They come in six colours that are dedicated travel destinations: Milan: green sunglasses dedicated to Forte dei Marmi; Los Angeles: light pink sunglasses dedicated to Santa Monica; Manhattan: transparent sunglasses with pink lenses dedicated to Montauk; Paris: transparent sunglasses with light grey lenses, dedicated to Biarritz; London: transparent grey sunglasses with orange lenses, dedicated to Cornwall; Lisbon: matte black sunglasses with black lenses dedicated to Setùbal. I’ve seen these sunglasses at Holt Renfrew and Spectacle in the city. You can purchase them online at Prada.com or Sunglasses Hut images: me, nitrolicious.com

Vogue Nippon May 2010 – The Girl From Atlantis

This editorial is absolutely stunning. I love the use of the Alexander McQueen’s Plato’s Atlantis spring summer 2010 pieces. It’s quite fitting in this underwater world. Other designers in the editorial include Balmain and Prada. Photographer: Solve Sundsbo Styist:George Cortina Model: Alla Kostromichova images: the Fashion Spot

Prada Menswear Spring Summer 2010 Ad Campaign

Prada Menswear Spring Summer 2010 Ad Campaign

I really like the Prada Menswear Spring Summer 2010 Ad Campaign. The images tie into the short film Prada created with Chinese artist Yang Fudong. Featuring young men gathered in Shanghai, dressed in Prada meanswear, the black and white film portrays a timeless, dreamlike realm where anything is possible. Inspired by Chinese adage that “the whole year’s works depends on a good start in the spring”, it is a bold and beautiful film represents an exciting new direction for Prada’s visual communications at the start of the season(source). images: thefashionspot.com
