L’Oreal Fashion Week

Yay. I’m excited as I got my media pass to L’Oreal Fashion Week confirmed yesterday. Be sure to check blogTO.com for my report from the runways. I really want to see a lot of Tuesdays program but I’m booked with my software quality group TASSQ that day. I can’t decide what to do. sigh

i want…

Pedro García Shoes I’ve been looking for a great black flat shoe. Something I can wear to work with a suit and perhaps even with a skirt. I don’t want a ballerina flat, I have those. I’m not looking for a deck shoe either, there are lots of them around. Some of the flat shoes I see are just horrendous like these two. However I struck the mother load last night when I saw this shoe. Perfection, exactly what I’m looking for. Of course these are way out of my price range. Pedro Garcia has some other great shoes also.

we are overrun with these things

This made me laugh on craigslist. This bag is so damn popular in Toronto right now, of course many of them are knockoffs. I used to think it was a nice bag (in black only) but now I’m just sick of it now. Knockoff or no knockoff, get an original bag people. Stop doing the sheep thing. Shudder. image: craigslist.org

Hepburn Cape by Desperately Different I saw this jacket at the Little black Dress shop and had to try it on. The above link takes you the collection picture. Check out the back after the jump

strange days and Variety Magazine

Today was a strange one. I spent a lot of time preoccupied with an event, an unveiling even. I have an article out in the Daily Variety from Variety magazine. I’ve been sitting on this news for a few months, but it’s finally arrived. I can now call myself a professional writer. It’s baffles my mind really. It comes as a surprise to friends and family I’ve told because they don’t understand how I got to this point. I don’t talk about blogging much in the real world, it’s kinda cliche. Anyways, the Daily Variety is on newsstands now. If you are a subscriber you can view the content (without graphics) online. Non subscribers can sign up for a free trial and check it out too. You can read all about it on blogTO.com

Hawking Wears

I don’t do this to often. I have a pair of almost new shoes that I am selling. I love them but they are just a tad too small for me. I’ve worn them twice. They are platforms from Nine West. Check the Craiglist ad. Local pickup only.

i got…

I’m not really a trend person, but I did latch on to the “white dress” phenomenon of S/S 2006, take this example from Chloe. I spent pretty much all spring and summer looking for that perfect white dress. Unfortunately, many I saw were too expensive, not quite right or just plain awful. I finally found what I was looking for on a recent trip to Stella Luna. I had always heard about this store, but just never made it to parkdale. This is by far the best vintage store in the city. I saw many items I liked.

i want: A Fake Diamond Ring

A Fake Diamond Ring People that know me have heard about my complete distaste for diamonds. However this fake diamond ring I can get into. Danielle Maveal, a local designer, emailed about her jewellery. It’s awesome when research comes to me. You can buy Danielle’s stuff online at her Etsy shop or at Made You Look in Toronto.

The summer sourge

People that know me understand how much I wish I could rid the earth of these things. Those damn chinese slippers. You know the ones. Mesh slides with tacky ass beads and sequins glued on. They were all over Toronto last summer like a plague and I’m still seeing them this year. If you are reading this blog and you own a pair of these, get rid of them. The only people I should be seeing this stuff on is little girls, and even then it’s pushing it. Thanks to Paul my lovely photographer.

Wellys in downtown

EDIT: I have a new post as this is old and busted. It was updated April 15, 2008. Please follow. I’ve found a store the sells the original wellington boots in downtown Toronto. Yay! Lee Valley Tools carries the original Wellys in green and blue. Lee Valley Tools – Downtown opens April 3, 2006 590 King Street West (416) 366-5959 Lee Valley Tools – East 1275 Morningside Ave. Scarborough (416) 286-7574 Fax: (416) 286-8174 Lee Valley Tools – West 5701 Steeles Ave. W. Weston (416) 746-0850 Fax: (416) 746-8474 Thanks the to the Constant Shopper. They also have a tip for lower cost options for boots. I would talk about them here but I don’t like them. LOL. The 2 above links are from The Star. You will need to register to view the articles, or you can use Bugmenot EDIT (10/24/2006): Hunter Wellingtons can be found just about anywhere downtown now. They have become very common. I will note that I haven’t seen too many people wearing them around though. Wait for sale time …

i got: Air Cadet Overcoat

I was walking by Black Market on Tuesday and spotted a beautiful grey wool coat on the racks outside. I can spot a military jacket from 10 paces and blindfolded. It was my lucky day, I discovered a stash of RCAF Air Cadet overcoats. They are also referred to as Greatcoats The jacket also includes RCAF gold buttons, sweet. Price, you ready for this. 10 bucks. $11.50 with tax. SCORE! The best thing about this coat is the fit. The were made for adolescent boys, which translates to correct sizing for an adult woman with a military fetish. It’s not easy to find authentic military gear for a size 4. It’s a shame that this pictures make the coat so dark. The closest picture from the Internet I could find was this Picture taken from eBay If you are in the area you should take a look for yourself. There were about 10 more and in perfect condition. It’s just too bad it’s getting warm. Great find for next winter though. Black Market MEGA WAREHOUSE …
