Celine Ready to Wear - Fall 2010

Celine Ready to Wear – Fall Winter 2010 – 2011

Celine Fall 2010 is another sleek, wearable ride from Phoebe Philo. She’s used texture in outerwear and continued with the sleek leathers. The accessories are spectacular starting with the great riding boot with the gold block heel. I also love the orange clutch. This video isn’t is the full collection, but it has beautiful shots of the looks. It can be viewed in HD. images: style.com, thefashionspot.com

Ask a Geek:Menswear Style Inspiration Sources

Sometimes readers ask me questions. If they are of value to all my readers I post them online. If you have a question, please feel free to submit it using the contact form. I’ll definitely do my best to answer it. This question came from a Twitter friend for a friend of theirs. A man they knew was always lamenting about the number of magazines, stores and websites for women that can provide style inspiration. He wanted to know if their was anything like that for men. I’m no expert but I’ve come up with a list of websites I goto when looking for men’s inspiration. Please add your own suggestions in the comments. http://www.sneakerfreaker.com http://www.selectism.com/ http://www.highsnobiety.com/ http://showstudio.com http://hypebeast.com/ http://www.freshnessmag.com/ http://thefashionisto.com/blog/ http://thefashionspot.com http://www.male-mode.com/ http://hommestar.com/ http://thegrumpyowl.com http://thinkcontra.com/magazine/ http://www.hedislimane.com/ http://philipsparks.blogspot.com/.

Rad Hourani Ready to Wear – Fall 2010

Rad Hourani may get called repetitive but I really enjoy what he does season to season. I just wish better video would come out of his shows. There is quite a lot of detail in the line but because everything is black it’s not often represented fully in photos. I do love the androgyny of the collection. I enjoy looking through the photos and not being limited to considering only the women’s looks. That isn’t something that I really think of when looking at men’s and women’s clothing but with Rad it’s a little different. images: Pablo Ravazzani, nymag.com

Marni Fall 2010 Accessories

The clothing from Marni’s fall 2010 collection was interesting to say the least. It wasn’t relaxed and easy wearing as the Marni Pre-Fall 2010 collection. I’m sure when I see individual pieces on the rack I’ll forget about the styling nightmare I saw on the runway and I’ll be able to see the beauty in some of this stuff. That’s what usually happens with me and Marni; I need to see it in person. I really liked some of the accessories. The bags are beautiful and sleek. Marni Pre-Fall 2010

Marni Ready to Wear – Pre-Fall 2010

I know the Marni Fall 2010 collection has already been shown. I didn’t like it. I was hoping Consuelo Castiglioni would follow the path she created in Marni’s Pre-Fall 2010 collection. I love the prints, they weren’t too overwhelming.  The footware is a lot of fun too. I’m dying for the mittens, both styles. It was a nice relaxed collection that I could see myself wearing. images: style.com

Cover Critiques at Masthead Online, March 2010

Cover Critiques at Masthead Online, March 2010

Masthead.ca has a feature called Cover Critiques. It takes two magazine covers and asks members of the industry to critique them. I was asked to provide my input for the March 2010 issues of Fashion and Flare. Read everyone answers at Cover Critiques on Masthead.ca. This critique was pretty hilarious from my standpoint. I’m a subscriber to Fashion Magazine but not Flare. However, I bought the March 2010 issue of Flare because there is a picture of me in it. I’m on page 150!

2010 A Space Odyssey a film by Rodarte and Todd Cole

2010 A Space Odyssey a film by Rodarte and Todd Cole

2010 A Space Odyssey is a film by Rodarte and Todd Cole. It’s pretty beautiful and the clothing looks amazing. I get shivers at 4:26. It’s making me change my mind about the spring 2010 collection. Guinevere van Seenus stars in Aanteni, a high-fashion techno-thriller from CFDA award-winning design sisters Rodarte, shot by their friend and frequent collaborator, the photographer and video artist Todd Cole. Set in the deserted grounds of Paypal founder Elon Musks Space X jet lab in Hawthorne, California, the film was inspired by the pioneering spirit of the space race, which, according to Rodartes Kate and Laura Mulleavy, has defined generations of artists in their desire to use new mediums and question the established rules they were taught to follow. This cinematic collision between rocket science and visual daring is an apt match for Rodartes spring 2010 collection—a symphony of flesh-colored crochet knits, fluorescent fibres, leather bandages and distressed plaid. Costumed in a series of these exquisite creations, Van Seenus blurrily emerges from a shimmering seascape before running through the starkly …

i want: Alexander Wang Cat Eye Sunglasses

This photo by Tommy Ton made me change my mind about the Alexander Wang cat eye sunglasses. They looks so fun. Alexander Wang created these sunglasses in collaboration with Linda Farrow. Linda has done other collaborations with Raf Simons, Dries Van Noten and The Row to name a few. UPDATE (April 11, 2010): You can grab a pair of these sunglasses at Holt Renfrew Bloor Street images: oaknyc.com, style.com
