I thought the Moncler Gamme Bleu Fall 2010 Show was super cute. I found a video of the show since the photos were so charming.

Nick Knight and Gareth Pugh in Berlin
During Berlin Fashion Week Nick Knight and Gareth Pugh were involved in an exhibit at The Galerie Für Moderne Fotografie.

Nick Knight - angular series
Nick Knight took photos of a model in a beautiful handmade gown by Gareth Pugh. The model does a great job of showing off the gowns best assets with movement. God, I love Nick Knight’s photography.

Pugh then had the lens turned on himself for a series of portaits with Sølve Sundsbø.

Pugh’s portraits are so weird and so appealing. I love the shot with the Roman like helmet on. I’m attracted to anything military regardless of era.  He really does look like an alien in that last image.

i want: Christopher Raeburn Spring 2010 Jackets
Browsing cyanatrendland.com lead me to Christopher Raeburn. I love these spring 2010 jackets. They are so colourful and making use of the sheer trend.
Christopher Raeburn is a young British fashion designer, known for creating ethically-aware men’s and womenswear collections that are original in design. Utilising re-appropriated military fabrics, Christopher Raeburn creates garments that are functional, intelligent and meticulously crafted.
A graduate from London’s prestigious Royal College of Arts in 2006, Raeburn is fast becoming known for his pioneering work towards the future of ethical design.
Christopher Raeburn’s collections are highlighted for their intelligent design, high quality and extreme attention to detail. Staunchly British, all Raeburn garments are proudly ‘Remade in England’ and produced in East London.
Christopher Raeburn has jackets for both men and women. I’ve posted some of each here because I liked both styles. The colours are so vibrant. The jackets just scream fun times to me. I really like the way they pop in these trade show photos I found on the Christopher Raeburn blog.
These booths would be magnets to me. I would be drawn by the bright colour and fabric. Of course, there are no Canadian outlets for Christopher Raeburn but you can purchase online at the webshop.

More on SLIDE, Polyethylene Furniture and Lighting
At IDS10 I discovered SLIDE through their Concord based rep, Company B Inc. I grabbed their 2009 catalogue and found so many beautiful images of SLIDE products in use that I thought I would share. I thank my trusty scanner on days like this.

This swing is amazing. Must aquire old tree and backyard

Innovative, diverse and constantly updated, the SLIDE production range includes seats, tables, lamps, vases, bookcases and other items which combine just the right input of light with a lively choice of colour in a strong distinctive way, creating a unique suggestive atmosphere. Winners Spring 2010 Preview
Winners PR holds season previews. I was surprised when I received an invitation to the Spring 2010 preview. Why would an off-season retailer hold a preview for the current season when what they sell is from last spring. It was getting all confused in my head as I grasped for answers. It wasn’t forthcoming so I had to see for myself.
The showroom was well put together. There were sections that featured the themes and trends for the Spring 2010 season. There was even a little section for Stylesense. I browsed through the racks and noted items liked. I saw a lot of the following trends:
- sport
- animal print in belts, shoes, handbags
- neutrals big in clothing, shoes and handbags
- Denim – all flavours, even the jean legging
- Leather – real and faux. Lots of neutral leather
- Bright jewellery – either colour or sparkly
- bright watches a la Toywatch styles
- Belts were studded, jewelled and animal printed.
- Gladiator sandals aren’t going anywhere, if anything more embellished
- Ruffles
As I was browsing, I kept thinking about the odds of me seeing any of these pieces in a Winners store. This fact was part of my initial confusion about the preview. I’ve seen Winners ads and placements in the past and I’ve never seen any of those items in the store. An exception would be Jessica Biffi’s Project Runway Canada dress. I wonder if I’m alone, have you seen anything from magazines in Winners?
The more I looked around the more I realized the purpose of the showroom. It was a way for Winners to reach out and promote the shop through the confines of the current season. The number of items in the showroom is a drop in the bucket compared to what Winners must buy in a season. This small group of pieces are selected to give Winners a voice relevant to the season through media. They need media mentions, therefore the resources to accommodate must be available. I didn’t ask about the buying process which I regret now. I’m curious if they are given purchase direction for the upcoming season.
I can’t lie, I did see some nice pieces in the showroom. They are laid out in the pictures above. Just be prepared to find substitutes when you go hunting.
lily + jae Spring 2010 Lookbook
lily + jae is a Vancouver based contemporary fashion line created by Jude Feller. She spent seven years working in the costume department for film and television before starting lily + jae.
I like it when designers include behind the scenes videos like this one for the Spring 2010 lookbook.
I see a lot of the “On the farm” Spring 2010 trend in the lookbook and while I’m not a fan I found some looks I enjoy from lily + jae
Lily + jae can be found in Toronto at Aritzia – Bloor and Yorkdale, Charlie, Distill and Vocado.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Loves Holt Renfrew
A magenta bag was waiting for me when I returned home from work on Friday. I love unexpected deliveries from Holt Renfrew. I removed the grey and white tissue paper and was greeted by a black, white and pink box. I saw the tell tale jumbled letters, it was Marc by Marc Jacobs.
I was right, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Holt Renfrew teamed up to create a limited edition tshirt celebrating the winter season. I absolutely adore that the scene takes place on a chairlift. It’s a pretty cute tshirt. I’m wearing an x-small in the photo. I would have preferred a small just for some extra room. However, the x-small is comfy, soft and not claustrophobic in anyway. Breathing isn’t an issue in this shirt.
The tshirts are available only at Holt Renfrew all across the country. The box comes with it too but there are limited quantities available. It’s pretty sturdy and I plan on storing some jewellery in it. Danielle from Final Fashion tweeted about her package and asked an important question, Who is Marc’s artist? Do you know?
i want: Asymmetrical black leather corselet belt by Zoë Hong
Zoë Hong is a designer I’ve been following online for a few year now. It was first through her blog Verbal Croquis and now Facebook and twitter. We’ve never met in person but I’ve always thought she was talented and pretty damn cool. I was super excited when she opened an Etsy shop. Zoë makes accessories with just the right amount of embellishment and attitude.
I fell in love with this asymmetrical black leather corselet belt immediately. There is no other adjective to use but sexy for this belt. Hot stuff.

Jean Paul Gaultier Couture Spring 2010
Jean Paul Gaultier was my favourite show of the Spring 2010 couture season. It did all the right things: it was a spectacle and the details were magnificent. Mexico and the movie Avatar (which I think will be a trend influence unfortunately) inspired this collection.
I thought the multi-colour eye makeup was really beautiful looking. It was fitting for a show where the colours were rich and vibrant.
The accessories are captivating. I love the piles and piles of bracelets and necklaces. I could see Lady Gaga and the late Isabella Blow wearing the ornate hats. Perhaps Tavi will take up the reins since she likes big hats too.
I loved the woven leaf details of the handbags. I’m not a fan of cowboy boots in any way but I found myself liking the green ones.

Givenchy Couture Spring 2010
I wasn’t freaking out over the Givenchy Spring 2010 couture show. I was expecting to but found myself liking about half the collection. I loved the feathers, shorts, ruffles, beading and sheer elements of the collection.
I loved all the pieces in neutral colours but that feeling wasn’t uniform when it went the colour came out of the woodwork. The blue and green embellished jumpsuits reminded me of Christmas ornaments. I loved the purple ruffled dresses.
I missed Mariacarla’s strut, but my girl Rose was there. I wasn’t a fan the eye makeup. The shoes were very cute.
I have to one question, Ciara as Riccardo Tisci’s muse? Really, WTF. To top it all off, trying to mooch out of paying for couture pants, this isn’t ready to wear girly.
