What, I can’t hear you.

I don’t understand. I ventured into the new Abercrombie & Fitch store in the Eaton Centre. Man, was the music loud it was like being in a club. Lets say that tshirts, tank tops, sweats and denim aren’t enought to get me excited about A&F, boring. But I’m not really their target demographic either. I didn’t even see any hot boys with no shirts on, boo! To me this stuff is just like American Eagle, Gap, Hollister and Old Navy. I would add too Roots, but at least they make some damn decent leather bags. related: The man behind Abercrombie & Fitch – shudder.

i got…

I’m not really a trend person, but I did latch on to the “white dress” phenomenon of S/S 2006, take this example from Chloe. I spent pretty much all spring and summer looking for that perfect white dress. Unfortunately, many I saw were too expensive, not quite right or just plain awful. I finally found what I was looking for on a recent trip to Stella Luna. I had always heard about this store, but just never made it to parkdale. This is by far the best vintage store in the city. I saw many items I liked.

Secrets from your sister

So I decided to get a bra fitting on the weekend. Since I was in the Annex I ended up at Secrets from your sister. It was quite busy so there was a wait. It was well worth it. The staff are awesome. Friendly and helpful, their motto is “you won’t leave here with a bra that doesn’t fit”. I had lots of fun trying on many different bras. I also made some new friends Princesse Tam-Tam from France Charnos from the UK Liz from Brazil Calvin Klein used to be my favourite. No more, Princesse Tam-Tam has won my heart. Hollister what are you hiding

I went in the Hollister store on my trip to the Eaton Centre last night. I had to see what all the hubbub was about. I hated it. The most annoying part was how dark it is in the store. You can’t see anything. Even the dressing room area is poorly lit, what the hell. I can only assume that they have something to hide, they don’t want you to see the clothes properly. Not until you get home that is and are too lazy to return it. From what I could see, there was nothing special, nothing worthy of grabbing my attention. Nothing that screamed “YOU MUST OWN ME”. Boo urns Hollister, boo urns.

Etsy.com, My newest obsession

I discovered Etsy.com on boingboing.

Etsy is an online marketplace for buying and selling all things handmade. Etsy lets you shop by color, place, time and material.

You can read more about Etsy.com here.

I can browse this site for days on end, there is just so many different things to look at. For example I purchased this tank top from Little Odd Forest out of Singapore.
Blue Owl Tank Top
When I opened this package I was so suprised by the presentation of the product, it was extremely professional and inlcuded some goodies (a button, some postcards and stickers)

Get out and Accessorize

There is a new British import in Canadian retail and it’s Accessorize. Open for about 2 weeks now I decided to take a quick look at their new Queen street store this morning. I was pretty impressed with the selection as it totally overwhelmed me when I walked in. It’s not a big store people, but it’s packed to the gills with product. I was also happy with the layout of the store. They organize items by colour combination, making it easy to find items that will work well together. They have a ton of handbags, scarfs, shawls, hats, earrings, and necklaces. Everything in the store is private label and you won’t find it anywhere else. The selection changes weekly so accessory nuts will always have something to look at. Accessorize is huge in Britain and Europe, and are doing well in Canada. I was told their expansion goal is 10 stores a year in Canada. So far the GTA, Vancouver and Ottawa are lucky enough to have stores. After some googling, I found out …

New additions to Queen Street

If you work around Queen Street you may have noticed that some stores have been closing down. Vice and Pegabo come to mind right away. However some new shops have moved in, Oakley and Stoneridge. The Oakley store I’m very curious about. I love their sunglasses (even if they are way to expensive) and their clothes look promising. Once I actually check out the inside of the store I’ll post a review. LOLStoneRidge (an Aldo company) is a good shoe store, much better than Pegabo. So I look forward to getting my Diesel finds from another store on the Queen street stretch. toronto, fashion, shopping

Wanna Frock Grand Opening party

I was invited to a grand opening party for Toronto’s newest retailer, Wanna Frock. Situated in the Beaches, Wanna Frock carries only local designers. This was my first invite to a store opening and it was a fun time. The store space is fabulous and for you local film buffs it was a location in this movie. Here are a few choice pictures; you can view the full set here Wanna Frock carries accessories, clothing and jewelry. Designers include Amie Scott, Denise David, Bjoolz – Insanely Cool Jewelry and Untitled Clothing. I picked up 2 items that I will talk about later. Shoppers get your hands on Toronto Life

A good guide to shopping in Toronto is published by Toronto Life magazine. I bought the 2005 Shopping Guide this year for the first time. You can find all kinds of shops to suit everyones style. For fashionistas, this guide is a must. It has a lot of entries and the catagories cover: fashion, beauty, home, garden, books and music. The guide should be available at your local magazine seller or online. There is an online version of the shopping guide, I am unsure of how much it differs from the print version. It is included in the City Guides section of the site. There is tons of great information that includes food, restaurants, fitness, kids, entertainment and getaways. I also just noticed a great little monthly shopping column on the site called The City’s best loot. toronto, shopping
