Marc by Marc Jacobs Loves Holt Renfrew

Marc by Marc Jacobs Loves Holt Renfrew

A magenta bag was waiting for me when I returned home from work on Friday.  I love unexpected deliveries from Holt Renfrew.  I removed the grey and white tissue paper and was greeted by a black, white and pink box.  I saw the tell tale jumbled letters, it was Marc by Marc Jacobs. I was right, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Holt Renfrew teamed up to create a limited edition tshirt celebrating the winter season.  I absolutely adore that the scene takes place on a chairlift.  It’s a pretty cute tshirt.  I’m wearing an x-small in the photo.  I would have preferred a small just for some extra room.  However, the x-small is comfy, soft and not claustrophobic in anyway.  Breathing isn’t an issue in this shirt. The tshirts are available only at Holt Renfrew all across the country.  The box comes with it too but there are limited quantities available.  It’s pretty sturdy and I plan on storing some jewellery in it.  Danielle from Final Fashion tweeted about her package and asked an important …

Asymmetrical black leather corselet belt by Zoë Hong

i want: Asymmetrical black leather corselet belt by Zoë Hong

Zoë Hong is a designer I’ve been following online for a few year now. It was first through her blog Verbal Croquis and now Facebook and twitter. We’ve never met in person but I’ve always thought she was talented and pretty damn cool. I was super excited when she opened an Etsy shop. Zoë makes accessories with just the right amount of embellishment and attitude. I fell in love with this asymmetrical black leather corselet belt immediately. There is no other adjective to use but sexy for this belt. Hot stuff. image: etsy.com

Jean Paul Gaultier Couture Spring 2010

Jean Paul Gaultier Couture Spring 2010

Jean Paul Gaultier was my favourite show of the Spring 2010 couture season. It did all the right things: it was a spectacle and the details were magnificent. Mexico and the movie Avatar (which I think will be a trend influence unfortunately) inspired this collection. I thought the multi-colour eye makeup was really beautiful looking. It was fitting for a show where the colours were rich and vibrant. The accessories are captivating.  I love the piles and piles of bracelets and necklaces.  I could see Lady Gaga and the late Isabella Blow wearing the ornate hats.  Perhaps Tavi will take up the reins since she likes big hats too. I loved the woven leaf details of the handbags.  I’m not a fan of cowboy boots in any way but I found myself liking the green ones. images: style.com Isabella Blow

Givenchy Couture Spring 2010

Givenchy Couture Spring 2010

I wasn’t freaking out over the Givenchy Spring 2010 couture show. I was expecting to but found myself liking about half the collection.  I loved the feathers, shorts, ruffles, beading and sheer elements of the collection. I loved all the pieces in neutral colours but that feeling wasn’t uniform when it went the colour came out of the woodwork.  The blue and green embellished jumpsuits reminded me of Christmas ornaments.  I loved the purple ruffled dresses. I missed Mariacarla’s strut, but my girl Rose was there.  I wasn’t a fan the eye makeup.  The shoes were very cute. I have to one question, Ciara as Riccardo Tisci’s muse?  Really, WTF.  To top it all off, trying to mooch out of paying for couture pants, this isn’t ready to wear girly. images: style.com

Chanel Couture Spring 2010

Chanel Couture Spring 2010

I enjoyed Chanel’s Spring 2010 couture show even though I disliked the hair. It was nice to see Karl move to a softer colour palette in the pastels and silver. According to style.com, this is the first Karl has shown Chanel without black, navy or gold buttons. It was all very ladylike with the contrast of the silver rococo heel booties. The Chanel suits were my favourite pieces. I mentioned disliking the hair. Too much Bride of Frankenstein for me, however I do appreciate the technique and effort put into it. It’s quite astonishing to see the intricacies of the back. images: style.com

i want: Space Invader Handbags

Lana, an I want – I got reader, emailed a link to the London, Ontario based fashion eshop, Dress911.com. I get sent a few links and sometimes they intrigue me and sometimes they don’t. The concept of our store is clothing that is both vintage inspired and presented by smaller designers. Our selection ranges from garden picnics to cocktail parties, styles from movie stars of yesteryear to the latest revived fashion on magazine covers, liberating indie designs to humble simplicity. Each piece is unique and is a statement. I was trolling the site which features a lot of vintage inspired clothing, when I noticed these great Space Invaders Handbags. I love! If I saw a Galaga version of the handbag, I would have freaked out with excitement.  Galaga is my favourite video game ever. images: dress911.com

IDS10: I want – I got Favourite Things Part 3

I love wandering the aisles of The Interior Design Show floor scanning for things that catch my eye.  This year Paul and I avoided the products.  We were on a tight timeline and learned what to focus on from last year.  Sleek kitchen appliance and tiling are not things I’m too interested in or have use for on I want – I got.  This is the final post in my three part series called IDS10: I want – I got Favourite Things. Andrew Richard Designs x Bustle – Designers pairing up with Designers for a range of outdoor furniture based on the Spring 2010 Collection. Smash – I loved the mismatch bookshelves with strategically placed lights Balance Glassworks – What a novel concept for display and space saving.  Note: This image was incorrectly tagged as Tsunami Glassworks in Part 2.  The correct image now displays so visit Part 2 to see. Slide – The glowing lamps attracted me. The lookbook has more goodies that I will scan and share soon You can view all the …

IDS10: I want – I got Favourite Things Part 2

I love wandering the aisles of The Interior Design Show floor scanning for things that catch my eye. This year Paul and I avoided the products. We were on a tight timeline and learned what to focus on from last year. Sleek kitchen appliance and tiling are not things I’m too interested in or have use for on I want – I got. This is the second post in my three part series called IDS10: I want – I got Favourite Things. Rado x Jasper Morrison – Beautiful watches. Love the sleek, black and minimal design. EDIT:  Jan 29, 2010 late night blogging.  Not good.  Wrong picture was attached originally.  Corrected picture is above. Tsunami Glassworks – It was the first thing I saw as my head peaked over the escalator stairs. It’s an attention grabber and reminds me of a large lava lamp minus the glass and fluid. Jamie Hayon – I was sad to miss his talk on Trade Day. I also left the party at Jonathan + Olivia party as he was …
