Sanrio 50th Anniversary – Sanrio x Demeter Fragrance Library

Sanrio 50th Anniversary

Sanrio and Demeter teamed up to create signature fragrances for various characters. The Sanrio Demeter Fragrance Library will initially feature scents from Hello Kitty, My Melody and Little Twin Stars. More scents are planned for the future including a scent inspired by the Sanrio Boutique. It seems like Sanrio gum and scented erasers.

You can purchase the fragrances online at DemeterFragrance.com, urbanoutfitters.com (Hello Kitty, My Melody, Little Twin Stars) and Sanrio Boutiques.

As a “thank you” to their ever-loyal fans, SANRIO plans to unveil special co-branded collections, starting this summer with SANRIO x Dr. Martens. Signature Dr. Martens 8-eye boots & mary jane strap shoes will be bestowed a trademark Hello Kitty bow for this limited edition collection. Collaborations with a diverse group of brands including Brunswick, Girl Skateboard Co., Aerial7, Lomography, Demeter Fragrance, Mimobots, and Build-A-Bear Workshop will launch a plethora of amazing products at retail partners worldwide, featuring an assortment of SANRIO characters. A benchmark of SANRIO’s 50th Anniversary will include iconic characters appearing together for the first time ever (outside of SANRIO’s Harmonyland and Puroland theme parks in Japan), on products including the 8-eye Dr. Martens boot, a Brunswick bowling ball, iPhone cases, apparel, accessories and many other unique products. There will be plenty of signature “small gift” items at market as well, including pens and notebooks, coin purses, key caps & lunch cases, all carried in the 95+ SANRIO stores located across the country and at www.sanrio.com. “Our retail partners and licensees are equally as excited to be part of our 50th Anniversary celebration,” says Ms. Hsu. “We are working with each on targeted programs to mark this special occasion.”

i want: Chanel Fall 2010 – 2011 Ice Cube Handbags

Chanel Fall 2010 Cube Bag
I rediscovered the Chanel Fall 2010 – 2011 ice-cube bags because of a series called Object Fetish on the site Showstudio.com.

Examining key pieces from next seasons international collections, Object Fetish trains obsessive attention onto next seasons not-so-obscure objects of desire – namely the choicest accessories from fashions favourite names, metaphorically unpicked through film and text.

The series is quite good and I love the in-depth discussion around the objects. View the Object Fetish: Chanel Handbag video.

Edit: I found the video on YouTube

Chanel Fall 2010 Cube Bag

This show was so overwhelming with the glacier and the faux fur all over the place. I didn’t notice any of the accessories. The video really worked up my handbag lust. I love the idea of these bags. They make me laugh because they are so ridiculous, but at the same time I’d love to own one. I enjoy that combination of absurdity and lust. I can’t wait to see these in the stores.

I learned some interesting facts from the Showstudio video about Chanel.

Chanel is one of the very few houses that is entirely privately owned rather than managed by a luxury goods conglomerate, and the house is consistently profitable. This is not just through traditional leaders such as perfume, but accessories, clothing and even the haute couture division at Chanel turns a profit.(source)

Adidas x Star Wars Cantina 2010

This World Cup themed film for the Adidas x Star Wars collaboration is so much fun. Snoop Dog and a lightsaber. I’m freaking dying.

adidas Originals invites you to join David Beckham, Daft Punk, Snoop Dogg, Franz Beckenbauer, Noel Gallagher, Ian Brown, Ciara, Jay Baruchel, DJ Neil Armstrong and some of your dear, old friends for an intergalactic 2010 FIFA World Cupâ„¢ viewing party that you’ll never forget.

Are you watching the FIFA World Cup? Who are you teams? I’m an Italy fan with Germany being #2.

Sanrio 50th Anniversary – Sanrio x Dr. Martens

Dr. Marten paired up with Sanrio to celebrate their 50th anniversary. I saw a sneak preview of the shoes at the Fall 2010 preview and I was freaking out. It’s just so damn cute. I’ve loved Sanrio characters for a long time in my life and to see them in Dr. Martens form is awesome. Just for record, Keroppi is my favourite character.

Sanrio 50th Anniversary – Sanrio x Dr. Martens

I’m really smitten with the multi-print boot that features a plentiful cast of Sanrio characters. I might even have to add them to my growing Dr. Martens collection.

Little Burgundy will be carrying the Black with Pink Bow boot ($175), Multi-Print Boot ($205) and Black with Pink Bow Mary Jane ($160) in Canada and they will be available on August 1, 2010.

Amanda Lew Kee Fall Winter 2010 – 2011

Amanda Lew Kee Fall Winter 2010 - 2011

“Who are those scenester kids?”, I wondered. I was at Derek Blasberg event. A group of four people all dressed in black arrived. Now don’t get me wrong, I love the scenester kids. Someone has to take this stuff seriously because I know it’s not me. I recognized the guy in the group. It was Trash Helder. The women were wearing clothing with a similar style. This wasn’t random chance, it smelled calculated to me. Carefully planned to produce the following reaction: who are you and who are you wearing? The photographers ate it up and the quartet received a lot of attention. They commanded the room, it was amazing to watch. I loved every second of it.

I would later find out that later that Amanda Lew Kee, a recent graduate of Ryerson’s School of Fashion orchestrated the scenester kids scene was . I went to the Fall Winter 2010 preview of her namesake woman’s line. I got to meet Amanda and I gushed over her stunt and its brilliance.  It was perfect because the clothing lived up to the attitude they brought.

Amanda Lew Kee Fall Winter 2010 - 2011

The preview first presented the Fall 2010 fashion video created with Felix Wong. I enjoyed the film and its stark white set.  It really allowed the dark, sexy designs of the collection to stand out and convey the feeling of the collection.

Amanda Lew Kee Fall Winter 2010 - 2011

After the short film a parade of models all decked out in Amanda Lew Kee’s Fall Winter 2010 – 2011 collection came out for photographs. It was a bit of a scrum getting photos initially but that calmed down.

Amanda Lew Kee Fall Winter 2010 - 2011

I liked the collection. It featured lots of leather, PVC and sheer fabrics.  Strong shoulder and bodycon silhouettes played heavily in the collection.  It was heavily gothic inspired streetwear.  It’s a very youthful collection but I could see a lot of the jackets crossing the age barrier.

Drake Hotel General Store x Shared

Drake Hotel General Store x Shared
It seemed like yesterday that the Drake Hotel General Store expanded to into Rosedale. Here they go expanding again with a new storefront at Bathurst and King. Well the storefront isn’t new, it’s an expanded version of the Shared storefront. Carlo Colacci and Joyce Lo decided it would be a good idea to combine the Drake General Store and their Shared location. An additional 200 square feet was added and it really makes the place feel a lot larger.

Drake Hotel General Store x Shared

This Drake General Store x Shared space focuses on clothing and home decor. For the first time all the antique fixtures that everyone drools over in the store will be available for sale. Carlo and Joyce are serious vintage hunters, you can expect their one of a kind finds to be top notch.

Drake Hotel General Store x Shared

Shared clothing is prominent in the shop with additional labels like Levis, Cheap Monday, Insight Swimwear, Happy Socks, Sessun, Kostym and Fortnight.  You can still expect to find kitschy items like fabric cacti and mini flasks that make great gifts.   Also check out the mini digital camera by Digital Harinezumi, pretty neat.
